What happens when you write to Salt + Light?

A number of years ago, I wrote to info@saltandlighttv.org, to express my regret that the Executive Producer called Catholics names such as "extremists" and "Taliban Catholics." Up to that point, I had no contact with anyone there. I did not expect a response but got one from the Executive Producer, himself.

I see that the theme of that response remains the same, only the recipient is changed. I have a whole collection of these kinds of petty insults and derogatory comments. Some day I should release them all.

Does Mr. Gagliano, who has given millions of dollars of his hard earned money as an apostolate know that this is what the executives there write to people on the business email?

What kind of business or television executive responds like this to a viewer. What kind of papal spokesman mocks people like this. What kind of priest dismisses people and insults them in this manner.

I can imagine how the recipient felt upon receiving it. I remember my own reaction.

When Pope Francis was talking about the "peripheries" and the "scent of the people" who was he speaking about?

Dialogue, eh?

From the combox (and as it was made public by one of the recipients and given to me posted in the combox)

Vox,
Thank you for standing witness to truth and educating some of us who have been blinded by deceitful men in the Church. I decided to write the email address at "Salt + Light" this past Saturday wondering if the email would get back to him. I am not sure if the exchange was ever between he and I or one of his spokesmen. Here is the exchange (the initial email was to info@saltandlighttv.org):
Veritas Augustine: "What Fr. Rosica is speaking is pure evil and folly!!! It is shameful! But, praise be to God for the Blessed Mother's apparitions that have forewarned of these wolves in sheeps clothing!
It is utterly scary what is being preached by men like him. The only place he is wanting to meet people is on their path to the eternal fires of hell. It is false mercy he is preaching!
In Christ, VA

Response from Thomas Rosica (rosica@saltandlighttv.org): "Go to confession before you go to mass (if indeed you go to Church!) It doesn't sound like it. I will celebrate mass for you tomorrow morning here at the Vatican. May God help you since you don't know what you are doing, what you are writing, and even what you are believing.
Fraternally yours in Christ,
Fr. Thomas Rosica
Rev. Thomas Rosica, CSB
Chief Executive Officer "
Lastly, I did write two more emails and he provide no response to either.
In Christ,
Veritas Augustine

I've seen the "you should go to confession" thing before. Weirdly, it seems to only come from "liberals", who as far as I can tell, don't think very much of confession anyway. God shall not be mocked.

Vox, I want you to watch this video about the attack by radical feminists on my City Cathedral that happened last night. I was there. It was like seeing Hell. I thought that we are going to die. We were praying since their objective was to burn it down. Its in spanish, but the images are stunning (warn about them)
This is Argentina. This are the "peripheries", but I don´t see any of the Bishops Fathers there.

This coming from a man who claims that the "Love the sinner, hate the sin" won't cut it any more, as in the case of sodomites the sinner's supposed sin is his very identity. He sends others to confession, as though he knew right from wrong - or cared to know. Same could be said about compulsive serial killers or pedophiles.

Well, VA did call Fr. Rosica names, so what kind of response did he expect?

Still, Fr. Rosica's IMHO snide and phony response was not befitting of a priest. I say phoney because I doubt he had VA in his Mass intentions. Had Fr. Rosica really had VA's spiritual well-being in heart, he would have directed him to someone who could help him with his "writing," "thinking," and "beliefs." To my mind, this someone would have been a solid Catholic priest. Am I the only one that finds it odd that Fr. Rosica didn't give him any such reference after taking the time to write back?

Although people who call themselves Catholics semi-agree to disagree with each other in the aggiornamento - only Christ and His Bride are right. Although I would never refuse coffee with someone who disagreed, I could never disagree with Holy Mother Church. The VII heresiarchs contradict the Pius Popes. Both cannot give grace.

Dear Anonymous,
Yes. You are correct. I do believe I did call him a name. But, my attempt was to admonish a sinner. Please keep in mind this priest chooses to be a celebrity of sorts (i.e. yucking it up on the Steven Colbert show, etc.) Perhaps, it was a time for this priest to instruct me as to why I was in sin and in his mind in need of confession? I certainly, as a man that desires the truth in teaching more than anything, would have welcomed his guidance. And, I don't believe there is anything in Canon Law or Church teaching (unless Vox could provide some guidance...I am sincerely open to it) that tells us we must not ever say anything to a prelate of any kind. In my opinion, one of the reasons that this non-sense of the "feminization" of attitudes today is that, men and women (not all...but most) are afraid to say a word. And, I am just not sure why. After all, as I heard a priest say recently, if something other than what has already been revealed and taught as truth by the Church (which it has), we have no other duty then but to resist! Error has no rights. I do of course believe the Bible as another instrument of God's truth: Matthew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves".....Also, read Galations 1:6-9

Dear Veritas Augustine,

Far be it from me to claim any authority, but; it would seem to me that there was no sin in your letter. There was emotion, which is not a sin, anger, which if holy and righteous is not a sin. You used no profanity, you did not wish him dead. You expressed the frustration of myself and other commenters here and he responded.

Yes, it was him, trust me.

My first contact with him (after minor contact around 2000) was in 2011 as I wrote a similar letter to the same address. I received a similar but even nastier response.

Maybe I should publish it.

Dear Vox,

Thank you for your response as I was sincere in asking for any guidance. My note and expressions to him were indeed intended as holy and righteous. Without defenders of the faith and other bloggers like you, I would feel alone (no doubt). That said, please keep the faith.

If you feel up to it, it would be good to see, and perhaps for others to see, his response to you.

In Christ,

VA
