Maker of the World, King Eternal. Have mercy upon us!

Here, listen to this, pray and chill out!

Sunday, November 6, 2016

Prior to the Council of Trent, in many missals the Kyrie was troped. The "troped" Kyrie was common throughout the Middle Ages and it consisted of a phrase that was used prior to the Kyrie, eleison/Christ eleison/Kyrie eleison to embellish and highlight the Kyrie in a rhetorical sense. They were done away with then, but made a minor return in Penitential Rite B (not that I support anything other than "A") in the modernist liturgy, "Lord, you were sent to heal the contrite of heart, Lord, have mercy."

Today, I, as with many others in the traditional liturgy and those who care to bother to do the Novus Ordo rite, right; will sing the Orbis Factor Kyrie. The Kyrie, and the names of the "Masses," though not written as a unit, were combined as such and assigned numbers and with that, names based upon the troped Kyries. Thus, we have Missa Orbis Factor, or Missa Cum Jubilo. Note that Missa de Angelis is of late composition, probably 15th c French, not Gregorian, and was never troped. This Orbis Factor Kyrie is from the 13th century Graduel d'Alienor De Bretagne.

The world is in dire straights. The American election is two days away. A man who is flawed as all of us are and a woman who has embraced evil are the options. He has said rude things and has led a life of power and self. He is redeemable. She is too, whose advisors may be given over to disgusting satanic rituals and sexual deviancy; a woman herself who has committed evil acts against the American people and who advocates the murder of babies in the womb up to the moment of birth, and the question remains if the flawed man is not a better choice than the woman who promotes evil.

The cultural marxist culture must be battled. It can only be battled if we are armed with Christ.

On this day, when all seems so dark, when the Church who should lead has abandoned Her duty because she is overrun with sodomites and freemasons, let us remember to cry out to heaven.

Orbis Factor, Kyrie eleison.

1. Orbis factor rex aeterne, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.

8. Patrem tuum teque flamen utrorumque, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.
9. Clemens nobis adsis paraclite ut vivamus in te, eleison. Kyrie, eleison. Kyrie, eleison.

English:

1. Maker of the world, King eternal, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us. Lord, have mercy upon us.

Yesterday I was inventing liturgy in my head:

Priest: Holy Father, have mercy upon us.
Congregation: Holy Father, have mercy upon us.
Priest: Holy Father, bless, protect, and rule us.

Priest: Holy Son, have mercy upon us.
Congregation: Holy Son, have mercy upon us.
Priest: Holy Son, guide, teach, and redeem us.

Priest: Holy Spirit, have mercy upon us.
Congregation: Holy Spirit, have mercy upon us.
Priest: Holy Spirit, sanctify, confirm, and perfect us.

Priest: Holy Trinity, Divine Creator.
Congregation: Holy Trinity, Divine Creator.
Priest: Holy Trinity, Divine Creator, grant us Thy creatures every spiritual blessing, that we might abide forever in the Infinity of Thy Love.

Priest & Congregation: AMEN.

Do you think I'll be able to write liturgy one day? :)

"Reveal to the faithful the wolves which are demolishing the Lord’s vineyard."
(Pope Clement XIII, Encyclical Christianae Reipublicae, n. 2)

"The declared enemies of God and His Church, heretics and schismatics, must be criticized as much as possible, as long as truth is not denied. It is a work of charity to shout: “Here is the wolf!” when it enters the flock or anywhere else."
(St. Francis de Sales, Introduction to the Devout Life, Part III, Chapter 29)

"You have to defend the glory of God and the salvation of your neighbor; and with the object of your strife before you, neither courage nor strength will be wanting. It will be for your prudence to judge by what means you can best overcome the difficulties and obstacles you meet with. But, as it befits the authority of Our office that We Ourselves should point out some suitable way of proceeding, We wish it to be your rule first of all to tear away the mask from Freemasonry, and to let it be seen as it really is; and by sermons and pastoral letters to instruct the people as to the artifices used by societies of this kind in seducing men and enticing them into their ranks, and as to the depravity of their opinions and the wickedness of their acts."
(Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Humanum Genus, n. 31)

You live in Canada.
Mind your own business. Go kiss Justin's feet.

My, my, my. Isn't Satan angry today. It seems that he's out to comment about the young man wanting to take his own life (a few below) and on this calling for the Lord's mercy upon all of us and America in particular.

I kiss only my wife's feet, friend. And if Jesus was here, I would kiss His and hope to one day.

Yes, I live in Canada and as America goes, so goes us.

As for the apostate Trudeau, you already know what I think of him.

Get out of here, lurker.

I'm not in the mood to take anyone's bunk.

This was great. Thank you. As for anony "mind your own business", reminds of Scrooge's retort to those asking for money for the poor. May I say to you, anony, vade retro me, satana.

The priest who asked if we would vote for Cyrus or Antiochus had it absolutely right. We can choose a man who will begin the rebuilding or a tyrant intent on massacring (literally) and persecuting God's people, especially the unborn. Listen to the priest's homily at:

God bless you Vox. Could I ask, what recording is this? I absolutely love it, and would love to know the name of the schola or group that created it. It's amazing.

May God have mercy on us in America, to not elect a woman straight out of Hell.
If she gets in, it will be at least in part due to the silence of our Bishops and the USCCB. They can expect deserved resentment. Not that they will care. They have their reward from Pope Francis and Marxist billionaires and the US government, and don't need us any longer.

Thanks Vox, a most beautiful trope of the Kyrie. It made me weep for the destruction that has befallen the liturgy.

After holy mass at my parish, the majority of congregants forget that we are in a sacred space and star talking away about everything under the sun. The Church, st Tim's in North York, Toronto has a fan shape with a shallow apex, resulting in the tabernacle being closer than usual to the front pews The pastor has moved it to the centre and the altar is laid with the traditional arrangement of candles. However not even that seems to be a sufficient enough reminder of whose presence they are in.People don't quieten down even if they notice others trying to spend quiet time in prayer.

I think i am going to play this trope aloud after mass on my phone. If it doesn't act as a call to reverence, to those nearby, then at least it will draw me into prayer, instead of getting frustrated and upset at the lack of regard for Our Lord.

We're going to need all the "mercies on Us" we can muster now that we know how Rome and Pope Francis plan for the Fatima Centenary...

http://www.romereports.com/2016/11/06/just-short-of-pixar-the-new-movie-about-the-fatima-apparitions

Who wants to bet this cartoon precisely represents how the Modernists actually see Fatima?

Keep your kids away from this monstrosity.

Ok I am just now learning about "tropes". I have no idea how people have learned such things. Where do you all get your in-depth knowledge of such things! This Kyrie is sublime. I love the (now I know) Greek influence in the prayer. At first I would believe it was Arabic, but now believe it is Greek in origin, Byzantine, actually. Someone will now come here and trounce me for my ignorance, but this is the latest info as far as I know. I looked for this online, Amazon, the usual places, and can only find this as a recording for $30.00. What on earth?
Do you all have stockpiles of prayers like this beautiful Kyrie stored away? On what may I ask? And how did you all learn of such things? Why am I so unversed in our musical heritage, and how did you all find out about it but I did not? Can you detect frustration in my typing? You are not wrong, I am frustrated. While you are listening to this heavenly prayer, we are listening to TASTE AND SEE, and we are fed up with it.

Kathleen,

Your first hunch is correct, Arabic not Greek, but really not Arabic as they were Bedouin and at the time in Arabia, but Syriac. The medieval sound you hear is that of early Roman chant which was Syriac in its sound. There were four main churches, Rome, Byzantium, Syriac and Alexandrian. The Syriac chant is the oldest and it is what our Gregorian comes from. I downplay Arabic for obvious reasons, my people on Mt. Lebanon, along with the Aramaics/Syriacs and Chaldeans and later the Copts were of course, Arabised by the Islamist invaders.

Google Gregorian chant, early Roman chant for other examples.

As for your frustration, you have every right. Your liturgical patrimony was stolen from you.

Ooh... what a great idea! I wish I'd thought of it.

Thank you Vox. I've come back time and time again to listen to this trope. It's more than lovely, it sounds an appropriate way to address God, if that describes it. I had better purchase it, because I'm going to miss it when you take it down. Thank you for educating me on the origin.
