To mask or not to mask, that is the question for Catholics attending the Latin Mass!

This post is not to debate the merits of wearing a mask or not. Any comments in the combox about it will not be published.

It is simply a warning to you, my dear Catholic.

In Canada, (I am not certain of the legal structure in the United States of America), the Catholic diocese is what is known as a "corporation sole." It allows the structure of the corporation to pass without interruption from one to another, as when a bishop is appointed. The bishop "Is" the "corporation."

If you come into my house, you follow my rules. If I tell you to put on a mask to service my furnace, you do it. If the bishop tells you to put on a mask to attend Mass, you do it. Or don't, but don't go to Mass there. If the State tells you in a public interior space over which it has normal power to regulate occupancy, fire code being one example, it has the "legitimate authority" to do that. Catholics are obliged to obey legitimate authority.

For those attending the traditional Mass who continue through arrogance, pride, selfishness and obstinance to refuse to wear a mask, you are putting your communities continuance in jeopardy.

In spite of warnings, including by this writer who was consulted, two communities in the Diocese of Hamilton have now been shut down, Owen Sound and Kitchener.

I told them, "this is not the sword to die on."

They chose to die on it, regardless.

Shameful.

In most, if not all, jurisdictions of the States a Diocese is a corporation sole just as in Canada. And I agree with the point of your post.

Vox
Do you know the what diocesan authority suspended the offering of Holy Mass? The priest offering the Mass? Episcopal vicar? The bishop?

The parish priests. They were not unfriendly to the Mass.

You are so right! Too many choose to die on that sword. They fail to see the long term picture. When it comes down to it, it's all about them. Humility is a rarity these days.

Vox, I agree with you, this is not the hill to die on. Wearing a mask, even if you don't like it, is a simple act of charity.

Tot homines, quot sententiae. I understand and do not condemn your point of view, But this American will miss Mass before he will wear a mask to church. I am still fuming because my granddaughter had to receive her First Communion in the hand, a decision of the archbishop.

Our Holy Mother's prayers have unmasked for us just how extremely compromised Joe Biden and his family are to Communist Blackmail. This is why they pushed for early voting for Biden. This is why Kamala Harris called her run "Thr Harris Administration". Pelosi , the FBI ,the CIA , the DOJ all have copies of Hunter Biden's hard drives since December !!!!!

What is the sword to die on? Nonsense. Bunch of sheep. Allow also communion in the hand then. Stand up to the bishops. Where are he men of the Catholic Church. Typical drivel. I expect this from liberals.

Hey Vox, you would make a good dictator! Haha.

These traditional communities are going to die. Shame on the bishops forcing these masks on people and sham on people going along with this garbage. Wearing a mask is a simple act of charity? Being made to wear a mask in Church is ludicrous. I feel sorry for these communities.
Vox, it would suck coming to your house. You and Doug Ford must be friends.

Shame on you Vox for his garbage post.

Simple: not to mask.

100% not to mask.

10000000000% not to wear.

Thank God for Archbishop Lefebrve!

Reading comments above just confirm my decision to have nothing whatsoever to do with anything or anyone associated in any way with the Novus Ordo.

Never worn a mask. MSM and all the PTB are from the dark side, and not to be followed like mindless sheep. Isn't your muzzle/mask protecting you if you want to wear one?

addendum: no one in my parish got sick.

As a person with a compromised immune system I have a real interest in this debate. My medical specialist (a practicing Catholic btw) says that if I contract Covid my outcome will not be good. His estimate is that masks are about 70% effective. In August I attended mass because the precautions taken were adequate to minimize my health risks and the new cases were low. Since the resurgence of Covid in the GTA this fall I have again stopped going to mass. Fortunately, our parish mass is live streamed. I hate wearing a mask but I always don one when going indoors. I do not on my daily walks in my sub-division. I have curtailed visits to stores and do not attend pubs with friends (alas) or restaurants.

This is not a "liturgical rights" issue. It pains me not to b able to receive Our Lord on my knees and on the tongue, but these are exceptional circumstances. Wearing masks is a small irritation and sacrifice that protects fellow parishioners who are elderly or have compromised immune systems like me. It really is an act of charity and I merely ask everyone opposed to them to consider this before criticizing. I look forward to being in Heaven with Christ, but perhaps not just yet.

I attend the Latin Mass in Ontario and the local authorities have received "complaints" re: non-compliance at the Church I attend. I don't know if these came from neighbours or from certain parishioners. The pastor has posted several notices that we risk losing access to the sacraments if this continues and as a result ompliance has increased. I agree this is not the hill to die on.

At some point however, we will need to make a decision if continued mask compliance is not because of "the science" but rather a political control tool to subdue the human spirit. We are not there yet, but we need to be ready to take a stand.

President Trump's own Physicians came to the microphone all with surgical masks . His Physician states, "We wear these masks to protect others and to protect OURSELVES."
Wearing a mask in closed spaces is patriotic according to President Trump.
The population controllers including Gates, The Club of Rome and the WHO, all hope to see the older generation die off. Why? Because Borgoglio and the globalists want to see a
"soft Marxist" government in the Gobalist New World Order.

In America we already know the early voting was to capture the stupid youth vote for Biden. Pelosi already had the 3 hard drives linking the Biden family with Communist and Russian communists making him easily black mailable.

Giddy with delight at the prospect of the presidency , Kamala Harris already referred to their win as the "Harris Administration".

Can you please share some proof of the warnings you indicated were given to the Owen Sound TLM? Who gave the warnings? To whom did they warn? Specifically please?

If I were told to fix the furnace at the house of someone like you, I'd refuse and tell them to send someone else.

Vox is correct. The sword to die on is vaccines made from a line of aborted fetal cells.

Ridiculous to quibble about wearing a mask. Where is your charity towards the elderly that the communists are trying to eliminate?

If people like yourself and others can't do some research and come to the conclusion that this corona virus is a 'plan'demic and a scam then shame on you. Stop fear mongering. I expected this from mainstream media but not faithful and devout Catholics.
There are so many scientists, doctors, virologists out there to show how this is over exaggerated. Stop overreacting and shame on you Vox for shaming people who don't want to wear masks especially in the Church. Sick and tired of this garbage.
Where is hierarchy? Where are the bishops? Just going along with this scam?
The faithful deserve better than this. Charity to wear masks? Pfff! B.S.
People should not be forced to wear masks in the Church.

Look, none of you, except John the Mad, whom I know are invited over. The HVAC guys on Friday wore masks, I didn't even need to ask them.

I am no liberal. I have a MAGA hat.

Masks are not 100% to prevent passing on or getting it. They reduce the risk.

You all missed the point. The communities were warned by the parish priests who are not radical modernist heretics. They were obstinate. The EF was said by a chaplain not be either parish priest. The people were "guests."

Whether you agree with mask wearing or not is irrelevant. They reduce the spread. The diocese has asked people to cooperate. These people refused and got what they deserved.

The Bishop has the right, you might not agree, but he has the right.

Una Voce Toronto and Una Voce Canada advised these people not to draw this line in the sand, they were told, "this will end, you lose the Mass you may not get it back."
