More Papal "blah, blah, blah..." on the matter of Sacred Music and Sacrosanctam Concilium. But what about Tra le sollecitudini and the Chirograph on Sacred Music?

It seems that at the weekly papal audience, Pope Leo XIV has made some comments about sacred music.

General Audience of 19 August 2026 - Catechesis. The Documents of the Second Vatican Council. III. Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium. 7. Sacred Music

How marvellous.

Does anyone remember this?

Chirograph for the Centenary of the Motu Proprio Tra le Sollecitudini On Sacred Music (December 3, 2003)

Why do our Bishops of Rome, from St. Pius X to Pope Leo XIV, continue on this track and remain ignored by the overwhelming majority of liturgically ignorant bishops and priests throughout the Latin Rite?

In the case of the "Metropolitan" Archdiocese of Toronto and the glorious St. Michael's Cathedral, has anyone noticed the banal dumbing down of the liturgy and music program?

Deacon John Griglio asks for prayers.

Friends,

If you follow this blog's blog-links on the left column, you may have seen this:

The site has been very helpful to me, and I am sure, to many of you. It is owned by Deacon John Griglio, a retired Deacon of the Diocese of Brooklyn. Deacon Griglio has a few other blogs and WordPress pages as well.

He posted this yesterday.

Dear Friends, yesterday we began hospice at home because of my cancer, as my body seems to be shutting down. I am quite weak and will try to post to you when I can. I have plenty of care, with nurses and caregivers attending to my medical and living needs. Our new pastor, Fr. Wright, visited me, and I received the Anointing of the Sick and Holy Communion. I also have my wonderful family who will nourish me. I look forward to being in heaven soon, in the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, with all the Angels and Saints, singing praises to the Most Blessed Trinity for all eternity! I just ask for your prayers as I struggle with this time of my life. God bless us all ✝️

Deacon John Giglio

God bless you, Reverend Deacon. Thank you for your service to our Lord Jesus Christ, His Church and His people, including this sinner.

The Metropolitan Archbishop of Moncton on the Traditional Latin Mass

When? When, my fellow Canadian Catholics, have you ever read anything like this from a bishop? May God grant his grace and long life to Metropolitan Archbishop of Moncton, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Guy Derochers, C.Ss.R.

His Excellency the Most Reverend Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R.

Sunday, July 19, 2026

Dear Faithful,

As Bishop of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Moncton, I consider all Catholics, whether practicing or not, following either the older Latin rite of Mass or the reformed rite since Vatican II, to be part of the one flock that Jesus entrusts to me and to my delegates, his chosen priests and deacons, to govern, sanctify, and teach our brothers and sisters, so that all may one day enter the kingdom of God and be fully part of his one and glorious family in heaven.

I give my apostolic blessing to Fr. Donoso and pray that, in his ministry, he will be a living witness to the love and mercy of God for you. I pray that he will always be a beacon of divine light and spiritual comfort to all of you and to all who will be entrusted to his pastoral care. May all of us, dear people of God, always remain united as a family, through the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, living in divine charity and respect for one another at all times. As Jesus said: « Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. » — John 13:34–35

Finally, I ask our beloved God to bless each of you, and I assure you of my prayers and fraternal support.

Welcome to our Diocese, Fr. Donoso! May you bear many spiritual fruits in your priestly ministry.

Metropolitan Archbishop of Moncton,

Most Reverend Guy Desrochers, C.Ss.R.
