Step right up folks and grant yourselves your own annulment

From the just can't make this stuff up file:

Gloria TV is reporting:
On Friday Cardinal Müller, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, said to the Passauer Neue Presse that there are cases when Catholics can decide on their own with a confessor that their marriage is null. This opinion has been condemned by the Council of Trent as a heresy. Quote: “If any one saith, that matrimonial causes do not belong to ecclesiastical judges; let him be anathema.”

Along with that, we find that the Bishop of  Rome has asked:
Anne Hidalgo, the Socialist mayor of Paris who is an atheist, has received a letter from Pope Francis in which Francis thanks her for her participation in a meeting in the Vatican. The letter concludes: "I kindly ask you to pray for me, or to think well about me and to send me a positive wave."

Again, a certifiable dunce.

The Cardinal Muller if this is to be true, just excommunicated himself from the One True Catholic Church. He has sinned against the Holy Spirit, calling the Holy Spirit a liar.

I can't help wondering if they lose any sleep over considering how much suffering was endured by pious souls who did live by the teachings of the Church.

The aunt who divorced her husband after years of acoholic rages and beatings and who never remarried.

What about the whole Henry VIII thing?

Does anything bother their conscience?

The sooner these Modernists are ousted the better. They don't represent the CC. Praying that the formal correction will be issued 7 January. No more waiting.

In between my rosaries and devotions I ponder.... just exactly what will It take to awaken these VII delusional (albeit highly educated faithless men) to the realization that they have denied Our Divine Savior. Prehaps after the Mohamedans destroy The Vatican and Putin arrives and he takes over, will the Pope and whatever Cardinals are left from the carnage finally consecrate Russia to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart. This most humble and amazingly simple request by the Mother of God will work miracles for the world , sadly this is playing out in such a manner that disaster is more than likely the means by which they will be so rudely awakened from their sinfulness .

He may not know about that canon from the Council of Trent. Remember, the majority of clergy in the Church today have had a post-Vatican II formation, and even those who had pre-VII formation have been systematically conditioned to accept that VII supersedes Trent and almost all the pre-VII Councils.

He would have to undergo the same fraternal correction as PF. So calm down, pray for him and have a Merry Christmas.

With annulments being so easy and nearly automatic I can understand where Muller is coming from. Where he is coming from is a Church that, since Vatican II, has gone with the secular flow and has largely given up the authority that Christ vested in it. There is hardly an ounce of difference between the marriage stats of Catholics and the public at large. The Catholic Church for all intents and purposes acts like a Protestant denomination.

Muller's defection didn't surprise me in the least; the real shock came when he actually upheld Catholic Teaching and thought for a couple of years.

Hew has apparently just returned to his own vomit.

Worthy of a TV satire show!

This man is not Catholic, and he works very hard to bring in all under his New Age Humanist Atheist tent in order to be Supreme Ruler of all. When the masses cheer as his chariot passes by and he sees people genuflect to HIM, he will be satisfied. Only then will Freemasonic will be done, and he can rest in glory.

Bring the correction, good Cardinals. Please, we can hardly bear much more of this diabolical imposter, he insults Christ as he sits there squatting in Rome.

Dan, I have wondered the same thing. All those poor people who have endured such abuse or neglect from spouses, trusting that this was the particular cross Christ had sent them - who knew all this time they should have just dumped their spouses and given themselves a declaration of nullity!

Perhaps, Herr Rebner, you might provide an English translation and an intelligent comment.

These "pastoral annulments" were done in the late 60s, part of the fake fallout of Vatican 2. In fact, I know a couple who got one, then 10 years later during JAN reign, it was reversed. But, the annulment board declared that the husband was validly married to both wives, but the 1st wife was bound till death did they part, as was the 2nd wife. True story!

I'm not sure how a declaration of nullity could be justly had in the internal forum. It seems to me that would do violence to the public reality of marriage. However, I think it's worth noting that Trent's anathema, which must be strictly construed, does not foreclose this option. It's one thing to say "that matrimonial causes do not belong to ecclesiastical judges." It's another thing entirely to say such cases always belong to ecclesiastical judges.

In any case, a declaration of nullity is essentially a "judgment," which therefore cannot be given lawfully, nor would it be binding, unless declared by one with authority, namely, an ecclesiastical judge, such as a bishop.

So is marriage indissoluble or not? If the present pope things most marriages are invalid, is there even really such a thing or is it just an 'ideal'? Is there really grace in cohabitation? Is sin not sin any more? Does everyone go to heaven now? Are we just 'annihilated' when we die like the pope says? Was Christ joking when He said that if we love Him we would keep the commandments? Was He just joking when He spoke of the fires of hell? Or can we just all decide for ourselves what is 'true' for us, you know: using the 'internal forum'? The pope himself refuses to say yay or nay. I guess like luther everyone can 'love' and do what we will (sin) and have no eternal consequences...

No surprise to me.

And the beat goes on and on and on and on. . . . ad nauseam!
This is a sickening narrative - Cardinal Mueller should be ashamed of himself, I believe, since so many will see what he says and follow it!

Michael Dowd said...

Well said M. Prodigal. Pope Francis is on a heretical roll. Much worse is coming. And even worse than that is that only a few in the Church are concerned. In my opinion, nothing will come of the dubia controversy. Pope Francis will ignore the whole thing and move on to even greater corruption of Catholic beliefs. Divine intervention and lots of prayer and penance is the ONLY answer in my opinion.

Dan said...

Hey wait a minute. Most marriages are invalid because the couple didn't REALLY understand the whole business of the sacrament?

I don't remember being well versed in the meaning of baptism as a newborn. What does THAT mean?

It doesn't matter what they say in the internal forum, God knows the truth and will continually let them know that. They will never get away with falsehood. However it matters for the sake of every soul around them and for the correct teaching and formation through public witness. And, as a wife, it matters to me.

DonnaLiane said...

They will never evade the Truth of God, no matter what judgement is pronounced but yes, it matters, for the sake of every other soul
