Prayers please - update

Thank you for your prayers and kind wishes. Pericarditis is nothing to ever ignore friends. It can happen without warning and unless it is from one of the more obvious causes, heart attack or surgery and such things, it can be from viral or bacterial chest infection that migrates to the pericardial sack as in my case. It's not nice and don't delay ever being treated.

It's not gone but under control enough that I can be home with medication because as nice as the nurses and staff were, who the heck wants to be in the hospital.

Thank you all.

Friends,

On this evening of the slap heard around the world, may I request prayers as I will be in hospital for treatment and observation for 48 hours. It seems that the wretched bug that deep-sixed my singing at Midnight Mass and St Stephen’s has invaded the area around my heart causing fluid and pressure.

The option of not attending to this does not exist because it would mean sticking me with a needle and tube (think here of the dropsy scene from Downton Abbey) or worse - like no room for heart to beat and, well, I am into singing Requiems for others, not having it done for me, not for decades yet, please God. But worry not, improvement is occurring.

I will be out of commission tomorrow as well and blogging will be pretty light if any.

And don’t slap any women!

Here is to Anno Domini 2020!

Te Deum Laudamus.

We will pray a rosary for you Fr. Z. Please do rest and do whatever they tell you to do. You are going to get lots of prayers, that's for sure.
Jesus is very close to us when we are sick. Angels will be fluttering around your bed. God bless you.

The strongest thing I had last night was a champagne cupcake, but somehow I read this as Fr. Z was ill. That Rosary will be for you dear. God bless you and be with you.

Just saw this, prayers for you! I hope you are on the road to recovery and our Blessed Mother's Mantle has enveloped you. I know full well how quickly these malady's can occur; I was struck down in October with diverticulosis and sepsis that just came out of the blue. Hospitalized for 5 days, sick for 55 days. We just never know! Get well soon, and may the Great Physician keep watch over you.
