@VoxCantoris now on Parler

As some of you may know, Twitter has twice permanently suspended @VoxCantoris. The first time seemed to be a tweet to @pontifex and @fatherrosica - my old friend called in his friends to silence me. Well, who's silenced now?

https://twitter.com/voxcantoris

The second time is unknown.

https://twitter.com/realvoxcantoris

What Twitter does not realise is that I am back there, another email address, another cell phone number, it is just not under the @VoxCantoris handle. I am toying with the idea of changing the handle and if it results in the removal again, so be it. Make no mistake, it is a war on Catholics and Christians in general, and conservatives. At the time of my first suspension, there were nearly 4,000 followers of @VoxCantoris on Twitter.

It is a long haul to build a new platform such as Parler and to restore the reach that one had before.

See you there.

So what is the best procedure on the distribution of Holy Communion?

The posts below deal with the reaction of priest, bishops and cardinals to the current China Virus calamity and the government's emergency orders. Cardinal Collins and the bishops of Ontario have banned Holy Communion on the tongue - they hint that they have been bullied by public health officials but they don't come out and say it directly. They also have not fought back or come up with a strategy to work within the Law and provide for the faithful.

Yet, they are not being totally forthcoming. The Archdiocese of Kingston in eastern Ontario has not banned Holy Communion on the tongue. There may be others, please advise me. Kingston's request is simply to come at the end of you wish to receive on the tongue and to a priest not an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.

We know that the Society of St. Pius X in Toronto, New Hamburg, St. Catharines and Orillia and elsewhere in their missions are following the occupancy guidelines but are giving Holy Communion on the tongue. It is after Mass with the priest having washed and wearing a mask, distributes. I have today watched a video from St. Aloysius the FSSP parish in the Diocese of St. Catharines from the Nativity of St. John the Baptist and the priest distributes Holy Communion on the tongue.

So what is the deal here? Is it banned by the government or isn't it?

My view is simple.

If the China Virus is as bad and transmissible as we are led to believe than Holy Communion by either hand or tongue is a risk of transmission. As someone who is 63 and with some conditions such as asthma, I understand the matter quite directly. For me, I will not attempt to receive Holy Communion during Mass. That is my choice. My right to decide.

The problem here is the alleged and subtle diktat of the bureaucracy and the acquiescence of our spineless episcopal leaders. If they did this the bishops should have said either, "we will not comply" or "we will get back to you with a plan of how we are going to do this safely."

Holy Communion does not need to be received at Mass. The Mass is not dependent on the laity nor is Holy Communion to the laity necessary for the Mass. The Sacrifice is complete upon the consumption of the Elements by the priest - just as in the ancient Temple.

If this was the diktat, Holy Communion in general should have been suspended at Mass and an alternative implemented. The bishops should have simply told the Government how it was going to be, not the other way around and challenged them to a court battle.

Since I advised on this blog in the middle of March that Mass should continue with a limit on building capacity and a ticket system and that has not been accepted by My Eminence, then allow me to again place done my lay mitre.

No communion during Mass on hand or tongue. People are encouraged to make a spiritual communion which the Bishop shall order read by the priest after the Our Father in both forms, OF and EF. Holy Communion is distributed on hand or tongue in the OF (given current Church provision) and only tongue in the EF, after Mass using the following practice.

  1. The Priest or Deacon only, no EMHC, shall wash their hands using soap and water and put on a mask.
  2. They shall then wash their hands again.
  3. They return to the sanctuary with the Sacrament and beside them have two pedestals or tables. On the right to hold the ciborium and on the left, an ablution cup, linen towel and bottle of hand sanitizer.
  4. A family comes up together and individual alone with proper distancing.
  5. The priest uses sanitzer and then provides Holy Conmmunion to each family/individual.
  6. He then washes his fingers in the ablutions cup and dries them to protect the integrity of the Sacrament. Once done, he then uses hand sanitizer again and repeats the above.
  7. The ablutions cup is then dealt with in the normal manner.

If Father needs to stand there for three hours, so be it. If people need to wait, so be it.

There is the solution. This is what should be done and the government should be told to sue us.

The faithful have been abandoned by spineless men.

Is Cardinal Collins taking a knee to Caesar?

Update: June 26, 2020. 09:41 A.M.

Barona at Toronto Public Witness has done more research and not only extracted more quotes from Cardinal Collins but has found the posters from Toronto Public Health and Ontario Public Health. The latter admits that it's recommendation or regulations may actually conflict with the Law - "Any conflict between this document and the emergency orders ... the emergency order or directive prevails."

Here is the Emergency Order: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/200052

Toronto Public Health provides "General Guidance" to "suspend all communion related activities." Note, "General Guidance" because they are not higher than Ontario Public Health which freely acknowledges that if its regulation are in conflict with the Law, then they are moot - the Law Applies.

Now, the emergency order does state: “3. The persons conducting the wedding, funeral, service, rite or ceremony must ensure that it is conducted in compliance with the advice, recommendations and instructions of public health officials, including any advice, recommendations or instructions on physical distancing, cleaning or disinfecting.”

Holy Communion is not mentioned, but it is implied. However, the Cardinal and bishops could have come up with either solution or adamantly fought the dictats of the Government. They have done neither, they have acquiesced to Caesar. Cardinal Collins and most, not all, of Ontario's bishops have acquiesced to public health officials - un-elected bureaucrats, not the duly elected Government of Ontario. The bureaucrats have overstepped their authority and our emasculated episcopal "leaders" have shown themselves and who it is they serve.

Is Cardinal Collins taking a knee to Caesar?

In the video below you will hear Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto and Fr. Ivan Camilleri, Chancellor discussing Holy Communion. At the 37:00 mark, the Cardinal alludes to public officials and a poster with a loaf of bread and a chalice and red line through it - "No Communion."

The purpose of this post is not Holy Communion in the hand or the mouth. That is another post and another discussion and has already been addressed. While Holy Communion in the hand is an abomination, this issue is deeply odious.

The Premier of Ontario, Douglas Ford, has decreed, under his legitimate authority, that churches could open with a limit on capacity at 30%. In some parishes, it works out to a lot less because 30% occupancy does not always maintain a 6-foot distance.

The issue in this video of the Cardinal (which may be taken down as it is not on the public feed) and by a priest in the Diocese of Hamilton is allusion to government orders into how we worship. The Cardinal is not so discreetly attempting to put the responsibility for this on public health officials without coming out and saying it directly, or issuing a formal protest.

Our Lord said, "Let your yes be yes and your no be no." He also said to "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's." The occupancy numbers of a building, even a church, lit EXIT Signs, washrooms, parking requirements, are all under the legitimate authority of Caesar as expressed in fire Codes, building Codes, zoning by-laws or ordinances and in this case, emergency orders from an Act previously approved by the Legislature. The liturgy and the distribution of Holy Communion and singing at Mass is not the jurisdiction of Caesar. It is the jurisdiction of God as manifested through His Church.

If Ontario health officials threatened to prevent the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass from occurring over this matter, that is a violation of our God given rights under Common Law and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that itself recognizes "The Supremacy of God," and should be, must be, resisted in every way.

If on the other hand the bishops are acknowledging that the secular government has the right to regulate the liturgical practices of the Church then there is a deeper problem here that is far more significant than the manner in which Holy Communion is distributed. If the bishops have handed over the decisions that rightly belong only to them by virtue of their apostolic authority where does it end? If they acknowledge that the government can regulate specific aspects of our sacramental praxis then how can they not regulate any other aspect of the expression of the faith of the Church.

The bishops seem to think that they must comply with government diktats concerning the expression of our faith in the administration of the sacraments. Will it be inevitable that the government will regulate the expression of our faith in things that are non-sacramental, such as preaching?

Our human rights commissions already accept the idea that speech can be violence. What will the bishops do when these commissions decide to regulate preaching in order to protect the public from "violent words." Will a priest who preaches on the sanctity of life, on the family as created by God, on the inviolable dignity of the human person with respect to the Church's constant teaching on transgenderism and homosexuality be handed over to Pilate for judgement? For if the bishops accept that the State has the authority to regulate one area of the Church's expression of faith when it deems it to be a matter of public safety how can they deny the State's authority to regulate another aspect, another expression of faith when the State deems it to be a matter of public safety.

If the Province of Ontario has ordered this action, under threat, the Cardinal must reveal this to all Catholics. If on the other hand, he and the other bishops are acting on their own, then they must be honest before God and man and testify to the truth that this is their doing. The difference may end up akin to Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops becoming the Canadian Catholic Patriotic Association. If that is the case, we will see the emergence of an underground Church in Canada. There is a precedent.

Only a "tiny minority" upset about Communion in the hand - Thomas Cardinal Collins

In a webinar for priests held today in the Archdiocese of Toronto the matter of the illegal forbidding of Holy Communion on the tongue was again raised. Thomas Cardinal Collins was adamant that it is not to occur and said those upset were a "tiny minority."

In other news, ...

The analogy is apt.

Bishop Barron Blocked Me (And Here’s Why)

Tuesday, 23 June 2020

Accusations by the Cardinal, Bishops and priests that they were "ordered" to give Holy Communion in the hand is an outright lie. Here is the proof!

The post two below refers to the state of Holy Communion in the hand as ordered by the Ontario bishops.

A priest in the Diocese of Hamilton went so far as to state that the government would shut down the Latin Mass.

Liars, all of them. Tough word calling these men all liars. Well, the truth shall set you free.

Barona has it right here.

The Archdiocese of Kingston in eastern Ontario has provided a simple remedy for Holy Communion on the tongue.

One can only conclude that those who say that the Chief Medical Officer of Health has regulated Holy Communion - a perposterous suggestion - are liars.

As for the priest, Father Brendan McGrath the "Chaplain" for the Extraordinary Form in the Diocese of Hamilton who wrote this, well, you can draw your own conclusions. Your smart enough.

Today, we return - mind your paws!

If you are here in Ontario, you will be able to attend Sunday Mass for the first time in three months. Thanks be to God, not to our episcopal hirelings. What a disgrace as is this poster.

As important as we think we are, we are not necessary for the Mass. if that were the case, why was the Mass being offered if we were not there over the last three months? The Holy and Divine Sacrifice of the Mass is not dependent upon me or you, it is dependent on the priest. It is not anyone's Mass but Christ's! The ignorance and deception of those who put out this poster is astounding.

Initially, I supported the restriction of public Mass, but never the closure of churches for private prayer or private reception of the Sacraments - all of them! My wife and I are fortunate that we were never denied. I had Confession from the car, we attended three private Masses in a locked church and received Holy Communion. Thank you, God.

I supported the restrictions because at the time, Italy was our example of where the China-Wuhan Virus was going and not China which can never be trusted with the truth. We were heading for an overwhelmed heath care system. I believed that if we all stayed home for three weeks from about March 16, we would break the virus - because of its incubation period. Even choir practice became deadly. Something evil was going on.

I took an incredible amount of abuse over the matter. Almost as much as my defense of Michael Voris's actions against the alleged sexual abusers and the cover up in the Society of St. Pius X. (To my friends in the SSPX, especially in Toronto, you know this was not personal, only to get to the truth.)

Both resulted in the reduction on the blog roll and a loss of "friends" and followers. So be it. There loss.

I argued that Mass was still going on even though many insisted it was cancelled and suppressed. I went so far, and I still believe, that the Wuhan Virus was a chastisement from God for the betrayal of the Church in China and the worship of pagan idols by Bergoglio. I argued that it was and is your right to get the Virus by your carelessness, notwithstanding my taxes to make you better, but not to give it to me or anyone else just so you can go to Mass. Do you all remember this poor family

The Church should have been opened by Easter. That would have been nearly a month and would and would have allowed time to put safety protocols to be in place and a ticket system developed. On Tuesday, March 17, 2020 I wrote this:

At the time, I suggested reducing building occupancy and creating a ticket system.

I'm glad they finally listened.

My prediction is that this will be a turning point for the many dioceses. Some will go bankrupt and it will be well deserved.

Many people will not return. Some will be put off by these absurd restrictions, some will have found something else "better" to do on Sunday morning, some will figure that I can be "at" Mass and still fold the laundry (it is a devotion on TV or the computer at best - you are not at Mass). Some will go to the SSPX (I know this is happening in Toronto and bully for them!). This will hurt and it will hit the income line and I say, hurray!

In a few hours, my wife and I will drive two hours to where I chant the Mass in the Ancient Rite. We will not receive Holy Communion, the priest will not distribute. He will not disobey his bishop and he will not disobey the Church's rubrics on the Holy Mass. We and the people will pray and not receive in our hands. Are we better than those who do? No. We are just more aware of the abomination of the practice.

You will be forced today in the Modernist Rite (and the Toronto Oratorians will go along with the abomination in the traditional Mass, just as they did in 2009 when Cardinal Collins banned communion on the tongue (send pictures please) to receive Holy Communion in the hand.

I will tell you this. It is an abomination and I ask you to think twice before you do it. I understand the sacrifice you are making and have made. It is the sin of those who have denied you. It is the sin of Giovanni Montini who allowed it. Priests are compelled under obedience to follow it. It is a disgraceful tragedy in the life of the Church.

It is your decision friend.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

O HEART, Thou Ark of Law divine,
Not that of former slavery,
But mercy, grace, and clemency,
That now with justice do combine,

O Heart, Thou Sanctuary pure
Of new and lasting Covenant,
With fitter veil than that was rent,
A Fane more holy to endure,

Thy Charity was ever keen
For piercing by an open blow,
That, venerating, we might know
The wounds afflicting Love unseen.

Within this Icon of His Love,
A bloody, mystic Sacrifice,
To offer each did Christ suffice
As Priest and Victim from above.

And who would neither love requite,
Redeemed, the Lover yet reject,
Nor in that Sacred Heart select
Eternal dwellings filled with Light?

So honour in supernal strain
The Parent, Son, and Spirit sage,
To Whom belong in every age
Unbounded glory, might, and reign.
Amen.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

DOUBLE, FIRST CLASS / WHITE
The heart stands for love. The human heart of Jesus stands both for His human love and for the infinite love of His divine Person. His love was not just a shimmering, dreamy softness; it was wisely strong and true to its eternal purposes. Despite the anguish of Gethsemane, His love yielded His human life to crucifixion. His love had all the majesty and fullness of God, a height and a depth that make paltry the wisdom of men. Every mystery of His life, every miracle, sermon, and kindness, was a new revelation of divine love that enlightens and warms mankind.

INTROIT Ps. 32:11, 19
The thoughts of His heart stand through all generations, to deliver their souls from death, and keep them alive in spite of famine.
Ps. 32:1. Rejoice in the Lord, you just; praise befits the upright.
V. Glory be . . .

COLLECT
O God, through Your mercy we possess the treasures of Your love in the Sacred Heart of Your Son, the same Sacred Heart which we wounded by our sins. May our honor, devotion, and love make reparation to Him for our faults. Through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord . . .

EPISTLE Eph. 3:8-12, 14-19
Brethren: To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things, so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith--that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

GRADUAL Ps. 24:8-9
The Lord is kind and just, therefore He shows even the erring the way.
V. He guides the humble in justice, He teaches the meek His way.

Alleluia, alleluia! V. Matt. 11:29
Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls. Alleluia!

GOSPEL John 19:31-37
At that time, the Jews, since it was the day of Preparation, and so that the bodies would not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), asked Pilate that their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who had been crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. He who saw it has borne witness--his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth--that you also may believe. For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken." And again another Scripture says, "They will look on him whom they have pierced."

OFFERTORY ANTIPHON Ps. 68:21
My heart dreaded reproach and misery, and I looked for someone to sympathize with Me, but there was none. I sought for someone to comfort Me, and I found none.

SECRET
O Lord, behold the love in the heart of Your beloved Son, which no tongue can describe. Because of that love, accept our gift as an offering in atonement for our sins. Through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord . . .

COMMUNION ANTIPHON John 19:34
One of the soldiers opened His side with a lance, and immediately there came out blood and water.

POSTCOMMUNION
O Lord Jesus, let the Blessed Sacrament fire us with a holy fervor, that we may experience the sweetness of Your loving Heart and learn to prefer the things of Heaven to those of earth; who lives and reigns with God the Father . . .

How to receive Holy Communion with a face mask. Just say "No!"

Better titled, "How NOT to receive Holy Communion."

Better there be NO Holy Communion than to follow this ridiculous, preposterous and sacrilegious instruction. Have these people gone mad? How do you remove your mask with the Blessed Sacrament in your hand?

For those of us that attend the traditional Latin Mass, there will be no Holy Communion, it will not be given in the hand, nor will we accept it in the hand. Now, what about my good Oratorian friends at Holy Family? In 2009 during H1N1, they gave Holy Communion in the hand at the Latin Mass in the extraordinary form. Will they do this again?

What insanity!

Diocese of Hamilton Priest accuses Ontario Provincial Government under Doug Ford of threatening to prevent Mass if Holy Communion not given by hand - "Could lead to suspension of the Latin Mass."

Updated: June 16, 2020 5:20 P.M.

The current situation with the beginning of Mass in Ontario is one of great distress due to the orders that Holy Communion only be by the hand. This is not how Archbishop Michael Miller, CSB of Vancouver has handled this question stating, "The faithful have the right to receive Communion in the hand or on the tongue." The Ontario's bishops are a different lot - they are much wiser and much more health conscious and no doubt, have been whipped by lawyers!

On June 15, 2020, this was made public by Father Brendan McGrath a priest in the Diocese of Hamilton and a chaplain for the "extraordinary form" of the Roman Rite.

Image may contain: text

I want you to read that third paragraph again.

I have reached out to Father McGrath to explain this inflammatory and hyperbolic rhetoric and he has not responded. I have asked him to justify this quotation and provide evidence to its veracity. He has not.

If true, this statement represents an intervention unseen in the Church in Canada in her history. It is akin to the French Revolution and it is unconstitutional. As much of it pains me to state it, Father Brendan McGrath has committed a grievous act by this statement and he must either lay out proof for this or retract it.

Why do I say that?

Because last Sunday, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter parish in Thorold, Ontario and the Society of St. Pius X in Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario all had Mass, and all followed the Province of Ontario's emergency regulations and all distributed Holy Communion on the tongue, the SSPX, after Mass.

Further, I have for you to read now, below, the actual documentation from the province made available to Catholic and Protestant Ministers across Ontario and nowhere is this threat made.

The Government of Ontario under legitimate authority has reduced occupancy to 30%. That is it. They have mandated nothing else. Is Father McGrath suggesting that Douglas Ford, the Premier of Ontario made covert threats to the Cardinal and Bishops in Ontario? If so, this is global news. That is the potential of McGrath's statement. If anyone is responsible for this; if anyone has threatened the existence of the traditional Latin Mass in the Diocese of Hamilton and Ontario, it is Douglas Crosby, OMI, the Bishop of Hamilton, not the Premier of Ontario.

We have written to the Premier of Ontario, Douglas Ford and two of his communication staff and requested comment.

After reaching out today (June 16, 2020 to Mr. Neil MacCarthy, Director, Public Relations and Communications for the Archdiocese of Toronto, the following comment has been received:
"Quite simply, the advice regarding the distribution of communion is coming from medical experts (both those consulted by the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario and those in various municipal and provincial health jurisdictions) with extensive experience in pandemic containment, management and prevention."
"For this reason, acting responsibly for the common good, and conscious of Our Lord’s command to love our neighbour, Cardinal Collins and the other Ontario bishops have decided that on the basis of the best current medical information, and to protect other people, it is necessary to temporarily suspend the right to receive Holy Communion on the tongue at this time."
This is consistent with what I have been told from other Dioceses. Why is Father McGrath intimating the black hand of government when it is clear, the medical experts consulted, and no doubt the lawyers, made these recommendations - the government simply required thirty percent!

McGrath must reveal the truth and his source or he must retract this statement and be held to account for this and the blatant accusation of governmental overreach for which there is no evidence other than one man's unproven and inflammatory rhetoric of epic proportions in the history of Canada.

BREAKING NEWS: ARCHDIOCESE OF TORONTO HAS ORDERED PRIESTS TO REFUSE HOLY COMMUNION ON THE TONGUE!

BREAKING NEWS: The Archdiocese of Toronto is at this hour holding an online conference with its priests to plan the reopening of churches for public Mass.

Mass will not take place for the public this Sunday as after 12 weeks of lock-down, the plan to reopen could not be formulated well before now.

Without exception*, which means not even in the traditional Latin Mass, Holy Communion in the hand is mandated and priests are to refuse anyone who presents to receive Holy Communion by the tongue. (The SSPX Church of the Transfiguration remains an exception - you may register for Mass at https://sspx.ca/en/church-of-the-transfiguration and since you will be so thankful you were able to do so, you will be smart an go every week and take you money there too.)

See the source image* While it is not in writing, there was discussion that if a person insists on receiving Holy Communion on the tongue they will be able to come after Mass. Sounds like the old drinking fountain practice.

Segregation!

There is to be no kneeling for Holy Communion at any remaining communion rail (few and far between) or any prie-dieu because people touch it and it would need to be disinfected after each user. Fox (my wife) would like to add, that this would be a good job for Susan from the Parish Council or the numerous "Eucharistic Ministers" who shouldn't be touching It in the first place. This job is reserved for the priests.

It must be noted that the last time Cardinal Collins banned Holy Communion on the tongue during the H1N1 fraud, the Toronto Oratorian priests complied and distributed Holy Communion on the hand at the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite Masses in their churches.

In November 2009, Cardinal Collins banned Holy Communion on the tongue due to the perpetuated fraud and hysteria of H1N1. A few days later, I attended a funeral at St. Michael's Cathedral for the late Msgr. Barrett T. Armstrong of St. Michael's Choir School. As an obedient Catholic I went to Holy Communion and received in the hand (I was not fully woke and assured by the Oratorians that it would not be my "sin.") The Deacon to the right of the Cardinal provided me with Holy Communion in the hand. To my right a woman approached the Cardinal, opened her mouth and gave her Holy Communion on the tongue. I, who obeyed his edict watched him disobey his own edict.

At the time, I was the Schola Master of the 19 month joy of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter's apostolate in Toronto. They would not give Holy Communion in the hand. Father Howard Venette printed in the bulletin, "In accord with the Canon Law of the Universal Church, Holy Communion at this Mass is only received on the tongue." In March, they were gone after only two months earlier having the parish promised them revoked after a gang-up by the usual suspects outside the Cardinal's office. But I digress...

This writer will not be going to Holy Communion under any circumstances in public because I do believe that some priests just don't know how to do it and I've had more saliva in my mouth from other than I would like to recall. Neither myself nor my wife or myself will ever receive in the hand.

Now, speaking of Holy Communion.

A blessed Feast of Corpus Christi to you all.
