"But he chose the tribe of Judah, mount Sion which he loved."

Related imageI am of Lebanese Maronite ancestry from the region of the cedars. My ancestors left the region of Mount Lebanon between 1882 and 1912. The dreadful Ottoman's cared not about the Christian peoples and the continued persecution and attempted genocide at that time. My sister married a Melchite Catholic, born in Haifa after the end of that empire and under the British Mandate of the region of Palestine.

Let me also state that I understand full well that Rabbinical-Talmudic Judaism hates Our Lord Jesus Christ. I am not writing this from a religious perspective, only a political one. Reality is what it is. That being said, who are we to doubt the mysterious ways of God? Can we really think that he hates the Jewish people? Can we really believe that he wants them annihilated? Any people? No, he wants them brought to the fullness of the faith and redemption.

Notwithstanding the above, I believe in the right of the State of Israel to exist within secure and stable borders and in peace. One cannot rewrite history. The Balfour Declaration and the League of Nations and Sykes-Picot accord and later, the United Nations made this a reality. We govern ourselves by Laws, not by the rule of thugs and murderers such as the Black September or the PLO or Al Qaida or ISIS. The Arab nations rejected the UN partition which then gerrymandered around the population of Jewish and the ancient Philistine peoples. Had they accepted it, there would have been a viable nation-state of Palestine on more land today than it could ever hope to achieve now. The map above does not lie. The facts do not lie.

The Arabs continually attacked the "Zionist entity." Only now, do some see a better way.

Many believe that modern Israel's creation as a return for the Jewish people on their ancient land is in biblical prophecy. Yet, to believe that, one might claim that to be a Christian Zionist, is a heresy. I don't know about that.

What I know is this. The land was given by God to the Hebrew nation. The Psalms tell us that he "chose the tribe of Judah, mount Sion which he loved." Out of Judah came forth our redemption and those people of the Old Covenant have been brought together to a land where one day they will fully come into the New Covenant. If that makes me a Zionist, so be it.

Politically and militarily, both sides in this conflict have committed egregious acts. Yet, it is this tiny piece of land which the Jews have made bloom while the "Arabs," and the Palestinians are no more Arab than the Lebanese. Assyrians or Egyptians, the real Arabs have for decades and abused these people to keep the focus of their own peoples on the "Zionist entity" rather than their own shortcomings.

If Jerusalem is not the capital city of Israel than what city is? What city could possibly be? God established Jerusalem as Israel's capital. If one wishes to argue that this modern-state of Israel is not of God, that is a valid debate, but God permitted its creation and out of it, He will bring the full redemption of His Chosen People through His new Israel, the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

Under the UN partition plan, Jerusalem was to be a UN-administered city. That is of no consequence today. In two wars where Israel was attacked by the Arabs, 1948 and 1967, Jerusalem was captured first in part and then reunited. It was the Arabs that caused Jerusalem to be fully taken by Israel.

To the victor go the spoils.

Let's be clear. Palestine never existed as a nation-state. After the collapse of the Roman empire, it was a desolate land of a low population under the domination of the Mohammedan conquests. The Ottoman's dominated most of the region until they lost it after The Great War. The Palestinian claim to Jerusalem as a Capital City is bogus and fraudulent. It never was their capital, they never had a state. Most of what was their region is in what was Transjordan, now, the Kingdom of Jordan. Israel is never going to give up Jerusalem and the continued resistance to the recognition that it is and will always be undivided and Israel's capital prevents a viable peace agreement. The losers have always been those in the West Bank and Gaza strip but it is not Israel that has done it to them, it is their own filthy masters.

But the leaders of that Church, the new and true Israel have failed. For a thousand years, since the end of the Last Crusade, the Church has left billions of souls to perish in what can at best be described as the greatest Christian heresy, Mohammedanism. They have refused to call the Jewish people home. Five hundred years ago, these betrayers wrote of the Scandinavian countries and have since made no attempt to bring them back from the errors of Lutheranism. Since Vatican II, it has only gotten worse.

In 1980, Joseph Clark became Prime Minister of Canada and made a commitment, never realized, to recognize the reality of Israel's existence and determined to move Canada's embassy to the State of Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, he failed. Now, the President of the United States who promised this in the election campaign and has not decided to do it. The Arab world is self-destructing. They eat each other. They have destroyed the most beautiful lands of Chaldea and Assyria, Babylon, Egypt and Mount Lebanon. Arabs in Israel vote, hold passports, have all the civil rights as any Jewish citizen and own land and business.

Today, the Bishop of Rome issued a statement wading into the decision already taken by the President of the United States. It is a blatant and mischievous attempt to insert himself into something that is none of his business. He should spend his time preaching Jesus Christ and Him Crucified and Resurrected and leave the politics for the real politicians. CruxNow calls it a "crisis." The only crisis is the state of the Catholic Church.

Whatever this Bergoglio can do to deflect from his formal errors he will do. This is a diversion on his part to deflect attention away from his heretical promulgation of Holy Communion for those living in adultery.

The Cardinals have their job, it is far past time for the kittens to do it.

Just before I read this disappointing article I was watching a video of “Israeli” “Jews” dancing with glee on a hilltop overlooking Gaza where 100’s of Palestinian people were being reduced to charcoal by phosphorus bombs. The idea that God gave this land to a satanic Khazarian people with no relation whatsoever to the Hebrews of the OT is reprehensible. For further information, (although you probably won’t like it), I would refer you to “Adversus Judeos” by St. John Chrysostom.

JMoore,

Did I not write that there were evils on both sides? I have never said that Israel has always acted justly. However, who blew themselves up, killing hundreds of busses, pizzerias and other placed of gathering? Who killed the athletes at Munich? How many Palestinian have been murdered by their own evil corrupt rulers? How many Palestinian children are taught in kindergarten to hate Jews? Have you seen those videos?

Menachem Begin could also be described as a terrorist. Had he not been Prime Minister, Britain would have eventually arrested him for his part in the bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem.

You have missed my points in your hatred for the Jews, noted by your reference.

1. God permitted the creation of the State of Israel. All things are His will, active or permissive.

2. This land is the ancient land of the Jews before they were dispersed and attempt made to annihilate them through various pogroms and genocides.

3. Jerusalem always was the capital of the Kingdom of Israel. While this is not that Kingdom, the legal entity that is the State of Israel, has it as it's capital and it was one through two wars bent on its annihilation.

4. If Israel has no right to exist and choose its capital city, nor does the United States of America or Canada whom some would claim were stolen from the peoples here 500 years ago. Do you really want to go there?

5. If the Palestinians were not used for the purposes outlined above, and truly sought to live in peace with Israel they would have had it a generation ago

The fact is, they don't want it, the leaders don't want it and the people are too brainwashed to see the reality of things today.

The bottom line is the Pope had no business entering into this debate.

Perhaps you might wish to address that summary issue!

The Holy Land does not belong to the Jews. It belongs to the King of Israel, Jesus Christ, against whom the Jews are in rebellion. Therefore, the Jews have lost absolutely all divine right to the Holy Land, and Titus was carrying out the decree of the Lord when he flattened apostate Jerusalem and expelled the apostate Jews. The Church is the new Israel, and we are in the wilderness waiting to receive our kingdom, the New Jerusalem, in the world to come. If anyone has any divine right to the Holy Land it is the Vicar of Christ. Nevertheless, the Holy Land was desecrated by the crucifixion of God Incarnate, and so it may not be holy anymore; in any case, God's people are not bound to any particular land in the New Testament as they were in the Old. What is certain is that nobody has less right to that particular land than the Jews, who totally forfeited it by slaying its Messiah and King. They have regained it by political subterfuge and not by divine decree. They have no more priesthood anyway so they have no use for it as a holy place. It would be better if the Muslims had it, if only for the sake of keeping the Jews out. As the Jews are, as Jesus testifies, the foremost sons of the devil, any political power the Jews gain is the power of the devil; therefore, they should be kept out of power whenever and wherever possible. Their punishment lies in wandering the earth like Cain until they repent and enter the Catholic Church.

Vox Cantoris said...

Really, the Muslims? Yeah, that worked out well for Lebanon, Egypt, Assyria, Chaldea... what a ridiculous comment.

Again:

God permitted it.

It is a political reality.

The Pope needs to focus on the faith!

PF has stated it is not his place to judge homosexual behavior (a serious sin, particularly if persistent & not repented) but decides it is in his jurisdiction to judge on the question of Jerusalem.

The ongoing history of the Lost Tribes shows that Europe & the West have been peopled by the Lost Tribes. If one looks at the map showing where these Tribes eventually wound up & the historical evidence of their habitation, it would appear we are all connected to Israel by blood & will be brought back there at the End Times, including PF & his family.

God permitting apostate neo-Israel to exist (which has no religious or political connection to old Israel) does not mean than the apostate Jews have divine right to the Holy Land. It only means that He's permitting the rise of the antichrist as punishment for our own apostasy.
And yes, the Muslims are less infamous than the Jews. The Muslims have no right to the Holy Land either, but at least they did not murder its King. It is a great blasphemy for the Jews to enter the land again without having repented for the crime that merited their expulsion from it in the first place.

God allows/permits lots of things. That doesn't make them good things.

Just because something is a political reality doesn't make it moral or correct. Might doesn't make right.

The Jews were given 40 years to get with the program and acknowledge their Messiah. They didn't and Jerusalem was flattened and the twelve tribes were banished from Palestine and scattered around the world. Judaism of the OT died and the new, perfidious Talmudic religion was born shortly thereafter.

Notwithstanding any nefarious agreements between dying colonialist nations of the past, if the Palestinians have no claim to Palestine, then transplanted Polish, Russian etc. Zionists propped up by American hegemony have even less of a claim.

Wow let’s just get out the gas chambers and finish off what Hitler started, eh?

The Promised Land was symbolic of the real Promised Land Heaven ,which Christ was to open through His Death and Resurrection. The Jews have always held a materialistic view of God's promises ,which is why they rejected the Messiah ,who they expected to overthrow their enemies. There is no milk and honey flowing there, but plenty of blood and tears.

I agree with you Vox, the pope has absolutely no business putting his nose in this, and he is just doing what Communists do, demonstrating a knee-jerk negative reaction to Donald Trump to please his superiors. He has a bully pulpit and uses it. The Church is in virtual ruins, apostasy is tearing it apart, and not only does he not care, he rejoices in it.
As far as Israel and what it is, I have almost no idea what is truth and what is just one side anymore. It's too complicated for me to follow. What I am sure of is this will have big repercussions for somebody or many somebodies, please God, not innocent people.
I'm just waiting on the Lord. He must be coming back any day now, because this poor old world is imploding.

I dunno Vox...

It is true that deciding who gets 'ownership' of the Holy Land between the Muslims or the Jews is choosing between a rock and a hard place.

I'm of the opinion that much of the problems relating to the Middle East and the resurgence of Islamic Jihadists is due solely to the U.S. and Israel. After all, it was the U.S. funding and arming those killers, and it was Israel treating ISIS fighters in their own hospitals then sending them back out on the front to fight Assad.

Israel and the Jews also control much of U.S. politics. Instead of investigating Trump for non-existent involvement with Russian foreign powers, there's far mroe evidence to convict him and the majority of U.S. politicians for involvement with Israeli lobbies. But nobody wants to talk about that...

Frankly, I'd wished the Crusades had successfully taken back the Holy Land. Even our Popes wisely wanted no part in the formation of a new Israeli state, they were neither for nor against it, insisting that from the Church's point of view, the Catholic Church IS the New Israel, no longer founded from 12 tribes, but the 12 Apostles. Christ succeeded David and is its King and rules from the City of God, the Heavenly Jerusalem.

All this about the modern State is Israel is a sideshow, pushed into existence by the Talmudic Jews, the orthodox Jews who want the Temple rebuilt, and Protestant Evangelicals, who rejecting the Catholic Church and the Holy Eucharist, falsely read from Scriptures that the everlasting Sacrifice and events concerning the Return of Christ require the Jewish Temple and Mosaic animal sacrifices.

But Joshua already settled the matter when he told the Israelites that God had already fulfilled His promise. After that, whether they kept the land or not was down to their faithfulness to God. When they screwed that up the first time, the Temple was destroyed and they were sent into exile. Then the second time they screwed up was when they rejected Christ. For which... the Temple was destroyed and again, they were sent into exile. Attempts were made to wipe out the Christians and the apostate Emperor Julian tried to damage the Church's credibility by having the Jews rebuild the Temple... but they failed and fled in fear when various chastisements hit them and even fire came out of the ground. This is part of recorded history. Today the Temple Mount is occupied by the Muslim shrine, the Dome of the Rock.

contd.>

Even some anti-Zionist orthodox Jews will admit that in order to get Israel back, it needs to be a divine action of God's who must first be please by His people, and therefore they have been given no new mandate for reconquest. Some might see the UN steering this action as providential, and maybe it is... but as Catholics, can we logically accept that? Have they accepted Christ? What's different now than was different back then when God destroyed Jerusalem and Israel a second time?

I dunno... but I believe the conflict going on now is a calamity and tragedy and that both sides have their faults. But it was as David Ben-Gurion stated in 1956... “If I were an Arab leader, I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural, we have taken their country. Sure God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We came from Israel, it’s true, but that was two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come and stolen their country. Why should they accept that?”

Indeed this is a perspective that we miss, and ought to consider despite our misgivings about Islam. The Church and papacy back then was wiser for staying out of this affair. Recent events are only good for fanning the flames. And the ones doing so, U.S.A. and Israel, really don't have the moral standing to go around demanding anything. That's all anyone sees on display - hypocrisy. Sometimes it's better to just let the status quo be, in this case, with Jerusalem being international territory, as per the resolution of the same United Nations that gave Israeli territory back to the Jews. And the Jews ought to have respected that.

Tel Aviv is god enough for their capitol and they have enough land to be safe and no need to pursue a 'Greater Israel.' Even God set a boundary for them in Biblical times that was not to be crossed. If the UN was acting in God's providence in their eyes, they should obey the resolutions and Corpus separatum.

As far as Catholic are concerned, we pray for the Christians surviving there, and turn our eyes to the Heavenly Jerusalem.

But does no-one find it strange that the U.N. an entire body politic that largely rejects the authority of the Church and Scriptures veracity and the authority of Christ and His rule and His Vicar in our day and age, for some reason is eager to believe Israel's claims to the Holy Land, based on a Collection of Books and Religion they largely reject???

Jay Jay said...

I agree with and value your perspective VOX. For the time being, that is what it is and we need accept the reality. Truth be told, the Holy Land is the inheritance of the Catholic Church - lucky it's in the hands of the Israelis at this point. Word on the street is Pontifex Minimus be not happy with Trump. That's a good sign! God bless!

Jack said...

So anti-Zionists are equivalent to Nazis? How is acknowledging that they have no divine right to a land belonging to the King that they crucified the same as wanting to kill and exterminate them? We can't kill them anyway. God is saving them for their repentance and conversion, and they are like the murderer Cain who is cursed, but whoever kills him is cursed sevenfold.

God permitting evil to occur never ever means He approves it. As Christians we must cooperate with God's will. If we do not, and we test God's most merciful patience with obstinacy, we can expect a righteous punishment.

Christians have no business with anything pertaining to Israel, insofar as we need to protect Christians and spread the Christian message.

Anything that prolongs the delusional obstinacy of the unrepentant is wicked. Accept the Lord Jesus, or the lake of fire awaits.

Just a note: In 1995 the DNA surveys and discoveries revealed that the Maronite Lebaneses are Phoenicians and have no Arab blood. Just check in the DNA surveys, findings and files (something like 95% Phoenician, 2.5 percent Jewish and 2.5 percent Persian - very different from Muslim Lebaneses who are 95% Arabs. I found this on a Paper by the Lebanese University signed by a Jewish researcher and a Lebanese doctor whose first name was Slayman something, publisedh by National Geographic.
Yes, the Pope is wrong, but any communist would behave like him actually.

A number of popes including Pope St Pius X had very definite views on the Jewish state.

Early in the 20th century Theodor Herzl, a secularist Jew and "Father of Zionism", visited Pope Pius X to seek Vatican approval for the creation of a Jewish state, not necessarily in Palestine; Patagonia and Ghana had also been mooted. The Pope rejected his appeal, saying amongst other things: "The Jews have not recognized Our Lord; therefore, we cannot recognize the Jewish people."

One can read Herzl's own - sneering and supercilious - account of that meeting.

Despite continual coaxing by Jewish leaders and their friends, the Vatican refused to give official recognition to the Jewish state in Palestine - that is until Pope John II.

Since the creation of the Jewish state its Christian minority has decreased from 12% (1948) to 1.9% (2014). There have been many reports of Catholics harassed and discriminated against by the Jewish government - resulting in them being gradually forced out, wreckage and desecration of Catholic shrines and institutions by the Jewish army, the number of Catholic priests being drastically reduced through the impositions of the Jewish government, leaving numerous parishes untended.

The Jewish state has other significant ramifications for Christians. In 2004 the Sanhedrin (Jewish high court like the one that condemned Jesus to death) was re-established after 1600 years. One of its objectives was the construction of a Jewish temple in Jerusalem. And so in November of 2016 the Sanhedrin asked Trump and Putin, both supporters of the Jewish right to Jerusalem, to build the Third Temple.

To quote Rabbi Weiss: "The leaders of Russia and America can lead the nations pf the world to global peace through building the Temple, the source of peace. Supporting the Jewish claim to Jerusalem would bring benefit to Russia and America, as well as the entire world."

This is totally contrary to Catholic teaching that only Jesus Christ and His Church can bring true peace to the world.
(To be continued)

The Church, comprised as it is of human members, has had certain individuals ascribe to and uphold anti-Semitic views. That is, a view which treats everything Jewish with suspicion and a host of other emotions. That is inevitable given our fallen nature.

Even though the Jews did put our Lord to death, the Church has generally made it a practice from its earliest times to pray for the Jews, for them to come out of the darkness and see the light of Christ. This is especially prominent in the Solemn Prayers (1945) and the Great Intercessions (1962) we hear sung on Good Friday.

It is also good to remember that Our Lord, Our Lady, the 13 Apostles and much of the early Church were born Jews. Christ and His Mother were dutiful Jews who observed the Jewish rules.

Salvation came from the Jews. There is no reason to doubt they can be converted, also.

Another thing that the Sanhedrin does is to preside over Noahide Law issues. Accordingly, soon after it was established, it selected and ordained a council of non-Jewish observers of the "Seven Laws of Noah". To quote Rabbi Toledano, the prime mover behind this council: "The goal is to unify, serve and organize all kosher B'nei Noach [Noahide] communities of the world under a single body that can operate under the direct authority and supervision of the Sanhedrin. To form a vessel through which the Torah, from Zion (via the Sanhedrin) cam effectively serve non-Jewish communities around the world."

The Israel National News tells us that the Sanhedrin wishes to "transform the Noahide movement from a religious phenomenon into a powerful international movement that can successfully compete with, and with G-d's help bring about the fall of, any religious movement but the pure authentic faith that was given to humanity through Noach, the father of us all." And further, that "although Judaism does not require or encourage non-Jews to become Jewish, the observance of the Seven Laws of Noah is incumbent upon humanity and widespread observance is to be worked toward."

How does that square with the mission of the One, True Church? And how can Catholics regard their "elder brothers in faith" with equanimity if a significant portion of the latter are working - even as we speak - to bring about the fall of their Church?

There is also a U.S. connection. The Noahide Laws were passed and signed by U.S. Senators and Congressmen on march 5, 1991, in the House of Representatives, and march 7, 1991, in the U.S. Senate - without any knowledge of, or input by, the people of the United States. Approval was granted on march 20, 1991 by the POTUS, George Bush Sr.

Vox, you speak ironically about gas chambers and Hitler, but there may be more to this than meets the eye. And Catholics need to be aware of certain matters in order to stay faithful to their Church and defend it from attack, wherever it may come from.

@ Paul Morphy.

If I can offer you some advice, Vox, this article is an error of judgement on your part.

You should stay out of politics and cease supporting the jews.

There was a very good and rational basis for quarantinning the jew in their ghetto.
This sensible decision to clearly demarcate the jew within society, needs to be re-implemented by society.
No good can ever come from consorting with the jew, Vox.

I'm not calling for the persecution of the jew.
