Never give up!

Our ingenious checks and balances allowed a Supreme Court to legalize abortion. As far as I’m concerned, that is when the “constitutional” republic dropped dead and we’ve been living in its decaying corpse ever since. Ann Barnhardt recommends reading A History of Venice by Norwhich. That being said, evidently this government was ruined by special people as well, so any Catholic monarchy would do well to keep that in mind for more than a couple generations. The I’m so much nicer that last guy routine is a pattern we seem doomed to repeat over and over and over. In fact, it’s making me sick of reading Hx so I leave that book suggestion for the rest of you.

Melanie, I have had the argument with Catholics about Catholic monarchy. If it were so good, why did it collapse in blood and terror or rendered as nothing more than figureheads? In 1500 years of European history, how many Kings became saints? Two, though I am open to being corrected. Edward the Confessor England and King Louis of France.

Perhaps the other Vox might have it, a Christian state, yes, but I'm not sure as a monarchy. Not read the book recommended. Hereditary monarchy is not the answer.

Well, apparently the Venetian Republic was an elected monarchy and they lasted for 1,100 years, which is better than we did and I’m not sure any better can really be expected here in this fallen world. Regardless, lacking a Pope, any governmental exploits I’m sure will be horrifying to behold, so there is that.
