Reverend Father Dwight Longenecker |
What does Father Longenecker do all day?
Does he not have a family as a married priest? What about his parish? How is he able to visit the sick, bury the dead, give spiritual direction, offer the Divine Sacrifice, and otherwise manage a parish, when he writes all day about those nasty radical traditionalists that were once just known as faithful Catholics. So who changed?
I wish to address both of these priests directly.
We did not ask for this. It was thrust upon us. How do you know that our blogging is not a result of prayer and discernment? Have you considered that it is our role as Catholic men and women to stand up and fight for Holy Mother Church as she is attacked from all sides and even from within? Do you think it is possible that the Holy Spirit has called us at our Confirmations decades ago for this moment? What happened to the "god of surprises?" Who are you to judge our motivations?
How do you know that we do not have encouragement from some of your very colleagues?
Monsignors and bishops, priests and religious, heck, even a few Jesuits write me and encourage me in this work. I can write this paragraph because if it is true for me and this rather obscure blog, it follows then it must be surely true for Steve Skojec and Ann Barnhardt and poor Louie Verrecchio and Hilary White whom you forgot to chastise in your screed. What would you think if these priests actually offered the Holy Mass for us, as many of them do, as we engage in this battle?
People have set out to manipulate a Council that in a half-century would lead to a near collapse of the Faith in the West. We have sold out to a culture that is evil and dedicated to the destruction of the Church Herself because she is all that stands between Truth and the world of evil.
Some of those are indeed within Her and you think we should sit by and just let it happen?
Oh, sorry, it is all about tone and feelings, (strike your chest here and sigh, "pastoral")
Yet, you; Father Longenecker, chose to write a column using our names that is dripping in the very venom that we bloggers are accused of undertaking. Tom Rosica has done the same thing numerous times.
What is it with you guys?
Is it classical narcissism?
Is it psychological projection?
Is it sociopathy?
It surely says much about you and your priesthoods when you consistently lead with your chins then recoil in horror that you've been called out by those who will not stand for it.
You think your priesthoods give you the right to publicly rail against the laity, send nasty emails and worse, which I won't publicly state here.
This is the height of clericalism!
You label people, such as us, as part of a "brood of vipers" or "whitewashed sepulchres" and dare to quote Our Blessed Lord. But in my reading of Holy Writ, Our Lord was speaking of the ruling and the priestly classes, not Joachim and Miriam Hebrew.
What would you say about St. John the Baptist?
Did he not have the blog of his day on the shores of the Jordan? Would you both not call him with his feet in the River Jordan as one with in a "cesspool of hatred, venom and vitriol" as he railed against Herod and the corrupt priests, pharisees and sadducees and scribes of his day? He had his head chopped off to shut him up. I suppose we should have the same done to us or have our tongues cut out or our fingers sliced off to shut us down.
Would that you make you happy?
When was the last time either of you wrote of Asia Bibi?
Yes, please, pray for me and Ann and Hilary and Steve and Mundabor and the rest of us, we all need prayer and daily conversion.
Just like the two of you.
Oh, and thanks for the publicity!
Sorry, no direct link, I won't feed the bear!
You can read it at Southern Orders, who has copied it and added his own typical humour.
Earlier this month, Basilian Father Thomas Rosica, who serves as an English-language aide to the Vatican Press Office, launched a fierce attack on radical traditionalists in the Catholic blogosphere.
As reported by the Catholic News Service, Rosica stated, “Many of my non-Christian and non-believing friends have remarked to me that we ‘Catholics’ have turned the Internet into a cesspool of hatred, venom and vitriol, all in the name of defending the faith!”

We all know where the cesspool lies - in the heart of the Vatican. Why would Fr. Amorth say that it reeks of Satan if this was not so? We are in the 100th year of Our Lady's apparitions at Fatima and the Chastisement is near to hand. These priests defy, by their disobedience, Our Lady's warnings at their peril.
Keep up your great apostolate Vox and those other Traditional Catholic bloggers also. We can only support you by our prayers and postings, but when you are upholding the faith of our fathers passed on from the First Apostles then you have nothing to fear. These gremlins who try and change the Ten Commandments to suit themselves (whoever heard of adultery & sodomy being virtuous?) and invent an extended Papacy so merciful that sin is no longer a problem in gaining salvation, neither baptism, and evangelisation is a no no, will be the ultimate losers. They, like us, have free will. Pity they are prepared to squander it!
So Father Longenecker is a Crud (no, that's not a typo!) contributor. Figures! Keep up the good work!
From one "cesspool of hate" to another!
There is no need to fear these vipers. As Father Faber says:
“The crowning disloyalty to God is heresy. It is the sin of sins, the
very loathsomest of things which God looks down upon in this malignant world. Yet how little do we understand of its excessive hatefulness!… “We look at it, and are calm. We touch it and do not shudder. We mix with it, and have no fear. We see it touch holy things, and we have no
sense of sacrilege… “Our charity is untruthful because it is not severe; and it is unpersuasive, because it is not truthful … Where
there is no hatred of heresy, there is no holiness."
Peter, what an absolutely brilliant quote from Fr. Faber. Hadn't heard that one before. That needs to be shouted out to the entire Church.
Thank you, thank you!
Time for Rosica and Longenecker to stop blogging and focus on their priesthood. They are doing a damn poor job. (If they can't wake up and smell the heresy they are trying to convince us to swallow, they don't deserve the title, "Father.")
Vox, I am unsure as to the point that Father Longenecker made about you. He identified you as "Canadian blogger David Domet...a member of a clan of traditionalist bloggers who trade in sensational accusations about the Catholic Church, of which they claim to be faithful defenders."
Father Longenecker continued: "A quick click through David Domet’s Vox Cantoris blog reveals a few common themes. The Holy Father is consistently disrespected, referring to him as "Jorge Bergoglio." Father Longenecker then asked, "Does this qualify as a “cesspool of venom and vitriol”? Maybe not."
What is Father Longenecker's point about you? He then added the following: "But dig a bit deeper into radical traditionalist sites such as Michael Matt’s The Remnant, Steve Skojec’s 1Peter5, or Anne Barnhardt’s blog, and Rosica’s words will not seem like an exaggeration."
I don't understand the purpose behind Father Longenecker's comments about you.
Anyway, it is obvious that you love Jesus Christ and His Holy Catholic Church. You have holy passion for God and His True Church. It is a shame that Father Longenecker doesn't understand or simply failed to have noted that about you.
Pax.
Mark Thomas
Father Longenecker then referenced such additional Traditional bloggers as "the shadowy TradCatKnight deals not only in conspiracy theories about the apostasy of “Pope Bergoglio,” but also warns of chem trails, the nefarious Jews, global government conspiracies, the skull and bones club and various other ominously apocalyptic stories."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Vox, based upon Father Longenecker's comments that I referenced as 1. and 2., I interpreted Father's remarks as having identified you as a "radical traditionalist".
However, Father Longenecker's first two sentences following that comment said of you: "Does this qualify as a “cesspool of venom and vitriol”? Maybe not."
Based upon those two sentences, Father Longenecker does not include you necessarily among bloggers who are mired in a "cesspool of venom and vitrol".
Vox, again, with my limited intelligence, I am unable to decipher Father Longenecker's attitude toward you.
That said, I truly don't understand the point of Father Longenecker's column as he noted the following toward the end of his comments: "What can be done? Alas, not much."
Then, Father Longenecker, what is the point of your column?
Finally, Father Longenecker declared that "...one must shrug, get on with the difficult calling of following Christ the Lord, and remember Rosica’s final comment: “We must pray for them, for their healing and conversion!"
As he reads Vox's blog, I urge Father Longenecker to read the following interview with Vox. Father, are you unable to discern that Vox is a holy man of God as well as a humble family man?
https://fromrome.wordpress.com/2015/03/05/an-interview-with-david-domet-the-vox-cantoris-blogger-who-stood-up-to-fr-rosica/
I also urge Father Longenecker to watch please the following 2015 A.D. video of Vox discussing the role of music in the Liturgy. Father, please note the obvious love that Vox has for God, His True Church, and Sacred Liturgy. Father, please note also that Vox is obviously a holy man of intelligence and refinement. He is not a man who should ever be included in an article about people who wallow supposedly in "cesspools".
Pax.
Mark Thomas
Vox, keep up the good work, where would I be without you and the other bloggers in my corner. How abandoned I would feel out here in the lone prairie of Saskatchewan. Thank You, God, for these Catholic bloggers whose confirmation grace is bringing forth good fruit. Keep up the good work.
You see, Vox - Turtlenecker the Neo-Catholic is aligning up with Rosica the neo-Modernist - teaming up against Traditional Catholics (that is, just Catholics), to vilify, condemn, disqualify. This is why that blasphemous Argenentian buffoon is of great benefit to the Church - he is clearing the air after 50+ years of decline and exhaustion. No more middle ground. Yes or no, Christ or Anti-Christ.
Why does Father L use such insulting and foul language to describe other Catholics?
Simple. It's the Francis effect!
I know Fr. Longenecker to be a good and holy priest and an excellent pastor. He is faithful to the magisterium and to traditional, orthodox Catholicism, and he attentively cares for his flock. Moreover, he has the courage to blog and post comments under his own name, not a pseudonym or anonymously like the author of this blog. It is scurrilous for you to be so highly disrespectful to a priest of the Church. You should be ashamed of yourself and go to Confession.
This is typical of liberals, like Fr Rosica and Fr Longenecker, who try to shut down valid and justified criticism of the evils going on in the Church. Yes, having read some of Fr Longenecker's posts I put him in the liberal camp as well - he hasn't converted from a lot of his Anglican ways - and I normally don't read any of his posts and Fr Rosica is a complete out and out liberal, so I totally ignore anything he has to say.
Keep up the good work, Vox. It is bloggers like you that Cardinal Burke and Bishop Schneider have publicly thanked as Catholic bloggers who are upholding Catholic truth.
Love it! The clericalism among the NO priests is rampant, Fr. Longenecker being Exhibit A. Of course his blindness won't allow him to learn from your pointed rebuke, but one must perform acts of mercy nonetheless.
".....because she is all that stands between us and the world of evil"
The likes of 'fathers' Rosica and Longenecker are part of the problem.
The cant see their tactics are the very things they accuse others of doing.
Any vitriol or venom is directed at the Heresy and lies and must be so, to defend the Church and the Truth
Reverend Mister Ballard,
Showing you the respect you deserve, I am hardly anonymous since the Reverend Father Longenecker used my name in the Crud column.
I am happy to know from one who knows him that he is a faithful priest.
Nowhere in my column did I say he was not. I certainly questioned the amount of time he spends slapping down "radical traditionalists" but that does not mean he is not a "good priest."
Please take your own advice, Reverend Mister Ballard, and before you attend the Vigil Mass, this evening, go to Confession for your own sins, but thank you so much for publicly calling out mine.
Deacon Richard Ballard,
I just now noticed that you're cross posting this comment to multiple blogs. Are there really so many that you can't find the time to write an original response for each? If so, what does that tell you?
As I responded to you elsewhere, we've tried the charitable approach with Fr. Longenecker, but to no avail:

Perhaps the wonderful Vox is merely imitating Pope John II, our 56th Pope, who was the first Pope not to use his real name.
"Modern Liberalism [modernism] ... imposes a false notion of charity: our neighbor first, and, if at all, God afterwards. By its reiterated and trite accusations toward us of intolerance, it has succeeded in disconcerting even some staunch Catholics. But our rule is too plain and too concrete to admit of misconception. It is this: Sovereign Catholic inflexibility is sovereign Catholic charity. This charity is practiced in relation to our neighbor when, in his own interest, he is crossed, humiliated, and chastised. It is practiced in relation to a third party when he is defended from the unjust aggression of another, as when he is protected from the contagion of error by unmasking its authors and abettors and showing them in their true light as iniquitous and pervert, by holding them up to the contempt, horror, and execration of all. It is practiced in relation to God when, for His glory and in His service, it becomes necessary to silence all human considerations, to trample under foot all human respect, to sacrifice all human interests--and even life itself--to attain this highest of all ends. All this is Catholic inflexibility and inflexible Catholicity in the practice of that pure love which constitutes sovereign charity. The Saints are the types of this unswerving and sovereign fidelity to God, the heroes of charity and religion. Because in our times there are so few true inflexibles in the love of God, so also are there few uncompromisers in the order of charity. Liberal charity is condescending, affectionate, even tender in appearance, but at bottom it is an essential contempt for the true good of men, of the supreme interests of truth and [ultimately] of God. It is human selflove, usurping the throne of the Most High and demanding that worship which belongs to God alone."
(Fr. Felix Sarda y Salvany, Liberalism is a Sin, translated by Conde B. Pallen, 1899.)
Longenecker and Rosica:
Blasphemers against the Holy Ghost.
Will not be forgiven.
Vox, keep up the sterling (aka Catholic) blogging. Greetings to you and Mrs Vox from New Zealand. Please dismiss this hot air from Brooce Wurliss (not!). Keep it up mate.
Dear Vox. During Vatican Two, the excellent American Theologian, Fr. Joseph Fenton, observed: If, as is usual in our own country, the name of integralism is applied to this specifically anti-modernist teaching, then integralism is nothing more than a statement of Catholic truth, implied in a denial of errors which are incompatible with the divine message of the Catholic Church.
See page 64, The Second Vatican Council (an unwritten story) by Roberto de Mattei.
Most integralists (like your own self) are entirely Catholic men who do their level best to defend the Faith in extra and ad extra against those they perceive as opposing the Faith once delivered and it is a bit much that those who hold official professional positions are at such pain to traduce traditionalists.
It seems extreme overkill to make of integralists benighted blackguards who are possessed of a malign mind and who seek only to destroy.
There is not one - NOT ONE - of those men attacked from on high who ever asked that their spiritual heritage be so completely sacked within less than one-half century but they who succor revolutionaries know on which side the butter is to be spread on the bagel.
We have been forbidden to worship as our Fathers did and WE are the problem?
No, we are part of the solution, and not only that, we are the voice of conscience in the heads of those seeking to paint us as blackguards and in trying to silence us, they are trying to quiet their guilty consciences.
It is my personal belief the Longenecker purposely says things for the $$$ it will bring him. He rarely seems to do any research into the subject he is ranting about and instead prefers to toss out names that will bring traffic to his Patheos blog- again for more $$$$.
For example, he was dead wrong about Church Militant's Michael Voris a few years ago when he falsely accused Voris of going after Catholic Answers ( http://connecticutcatholiccorner.blogspot.com/2013/08/frlongnecker-vs-michael-voris.html ), to my knowledge he never apologized for his claims, but I'd bet he kept the $$$$ he got for what he wrote.
:(
Just another disappointment in the Church.
In Christ,
Julie @ Connecticut Catholic Corner
“Cet animal est tres mechant
Quand on l'attaque il se defend!"
"This animal is very wicked
When attacked it defends"
Thank you for your defense of the Catholic Faith!!
He may well blog and post comments in his own name but he does not allow comments on what he himself blogs and comments since he has closed his combox
citing lack of time to read and moderate. No right of reply to that little black duck ! He and Rosica deserve each other!
I wonder how many 'rad trads' the two revs know anyway. If they know so many 'disturbed' and 'angry' people then shouldn't they be reaching out and ministering to them rather then spending time writing attack columns?
