The distorted minds of Canadian politicians and worse, the collective group of Canadian bishops continues. Late yesterday and one post below, we reported that the Bishops of Quebec have determined that they will not permit people into Mass without a vaccine passport. They are refusing to stand up to the diktats of the fascist Premier Legault. Now, we have the homily from Edmonton's Archbishop Richard Smith (rumoured to be on the terna for Toronto along with at least, Calgary bishop William McGrattan ) wherein he actually puts forward the proposition that the commands of the Prime Minister and the Premiers are "divine directives."
Smith's homily can be found at this link. Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time – Year C - caedm

The Government issues divine commands? Is this guy channeling Henry VIII? This isn't a joke, we are in very dangerous territory and what is left of the visible Catholic Church has lost their minds.
Shame on him. How much longer O Lord?
At Catholic Insight, I believe, the editor has written a superb commentary about Canada, the bishops, and the people. In it he makes a stunning statement that is thought provoking. "If all of the bishops in Canada disappeared today, would it make any difference to the church." He posits that it might actually improve matters, because younger more faithful priests would have more influence.
Let me speak for myself, because I consider myself an average person. What I feel and think about bishops today, would have shocked me to the core 20 years ago. They are on a par with politicians, and I assure you, I have no love for them, and trust them even less. Both have earned contempt.
The faithful bishops, in the US there are a very few, are worth their weight in gold. But we have too many like this one, disgusting sellouts who have sold Christ, sold the church, sold the faith, sold the flock. There is not a thing this man has within himself, to offer you. If he is filled, it is with the spirit of the world and satan. No true bishop would do what these men are doing. But note, they don't care anymore, do they. They are no longer beholden to the people. They get money, but not the pittance from the offertory, and so they serve their employer now, government, China, but not you and not other Catholics. Note how there is no corrective course, no rolling back of vax mandates, no letting go of masks, and to their eternal shame, no defense of the men and women right now fighting for basic liberty in Canada, and the right to be HEARD.
Even for this, these worms cannot find a reason to do the right thing and defend the people. They have proven themselves. Why waste time with them ever again. These are the wolves in sheep's clothing, we were warned about.
Deliver us, O Lord, from these hirelings.
Studies are proving that prolonged mask wearing and elevated CO2 levels are leading to significant cognitive decline. Perhaps Joe Biden's advancing dementia is becoming the real new pandemic...especially among a certain cohort.

If this was the small pox pandemic the vax mandates would make more sense since small pox killed 1 out of three people infected with it. But 0-18 year olds have a greater chance of dying in a car accident on the way to school then they do the coof.
This is some bulls...stuff. Just saying.

Read this 3x, in the most charity I could rouse in myself, trying to make sense of it....
The only thing that kept popping into my brain was "We have no king but Caesar." (Jn19:15)
Terrifying.... these men need prayers

Their discernment is gone. It probably started with little compromises. No one saw, only God. But these men don't really believe in God. Gradually the compromises became bigger. Gradually the voice of conscience was not discernable anymore. A Trucker has more wisdom in his little finger than Canadian bishops collectively.
This is a silly comparison, especially if resistance to the vaccine is based on conscience.
About the Terna, though, his name practically has to be on it. It's a matter of logic. The new bishop will either be from a metropolitan see or a reasonably big one. The bishops of Hamilton, London, and Vancouver are all too old (didn't stop Cardinal Gregory though). That leaves just +Smith, +McGrattan, +Bolen, +Mulhall, or maybe an auxillary from Toronto. Interestingly, +Smith had hitherto been known as more orthodox than some, so this could have been good news, but we'll see I guess.
