The late Very Reverend Jonathan Robinson, C.O. offers the Holy Mass at the Toronto Oratory Church of the Holy Family |
There has been no published announcement from the Archdiocese of Toronto in reaction to the repugnant motu proprio of Pope Francis against the Holy Mass in its traditional form. There is no need. The current status quo applies. "Qui tacet consentit" - silence gives consent! There will be no changes and for this, we can thank Thomas Cardinal Collins for his pastoral care and the announcements made last Sunday at all Masses that there will be "no changes."
What we must do, as faithful in Christ, is to not despair and not abandon Our Mother, the Church at this time of Her suffering from abuse and a hostile takeover by malefactors.
In Toronto and elsewhere, go to the Traditional Latin Mass. Go today and always. If you have never been, go anyway. Don't worry about not understanding or knowing what to do. Just go.

Thank you for giving Cardinal Collins credit when it is due :)
Of course, Robin. Fair and balanced - well, maybe not always so balanced! Regardless, you are correct. Thanks where it is due for this and the critique for the shutting down of churches. A sad time, to be sure. God bless you this Sunday.
Well done Vox.
As a result of the times we are in, I have made a resolution to invite all the young ones in my family to join us for the TLM we attend, one at a time. It is their Catholic heritage, and none of them were aware of the TLM. So their auntie and uncle will invite them, and a nice lunch after Mass.
There is nothing on this earth like the Roman Rite. We attended Novus Ordo Mass for virtually all of our lives, but once we experienced the Roman Rite, that was it. We have attended now for seven years. Friends, for an hour a week you can be transported to Calvary. You can be present at the sacrifice of Christ at the altar, you are there, at the foot of the cross, hearing it in the language that is ancient and unchanging. It does not matter how "High" or "Low" the Mass. Either way, you are there. No one is looking at you. There are very little vocal responses, this is about mental and spiritual "participation", not verbal or bodily participation. There are usually red missals to help you follow along, and you can if you like, purchase a Missal from 1962 or earlier, from Ebay for about 25 dollars. It should have Latin on one side and English on the other side. There is much repetition of vocabulary and you will pick it up, believe me. The only difference you should know is you kneel for Holy Communion, as is right and proper, and you do not say "Amen" when you receive, you say nothing. Going to Confession before you go to the Roman Rite, is also a good idea. When you kneel before God and wait to receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, you will want to make sure you are in a state of grace with no unconfessed sins on your conscience.
Go. Go at least once. Go once a month if it is very far. Go and spend an hour with God, in the rite that is what God intended, the one that comes closest on this earth to His proper worship that we poor mortals can conduct. Go and soak in an hour out of this world with all it's cares and troubles. He will see you sitting there, and you will see Him.
Like Vox Cantoris, we at Toronto Catholic Witness do, and we will continue to pray for Cardinal Collins as our bishop. In us he should see a true friend.
excuae the typos. my fingwrs are too fat for this device. So when will Sedes make their own seminaries that don't require prior 4 year degrees and churn out their own priests? Or will ypu rely on Anyichrist for your priests until Antichrist squashes you? lol. Protestant Reformayion was so right. Hahahaha.
Jorgen, I'm not a Sede, neither belong to the Ape of this church. But those who laugh last will always laugh the loudest and the laugh last is the sweetest laugh of all. You definitely need prayers an fasting to make your fingers thinner and learn to correlate your thoughts with typing. I'm sorry for you.
These sycophantic comments about the cardinal's goodwill are redolent of a Stockholm syndrome. This is the same prelate who still won't allow Communion on the tongue. Has it occurred to anyone that he may be waiting to see what the pope will do next? If the Roman fox allowed him to stay on for a little longer in exchange for a strict application of TC, things might well be different. Most bishops have their office because they played the game and were silent in the face of abuse after abuse. The cardinal's track record is not too good when it comes to correcting abuses. TC is abusive. Wake up, people!
