LOVE Our Lady of the Atonement! My parents lived there and I would go to Mass at OLA. The Anglican Use is actually, I think, what the 'novus ordo' should have been! There is the retaining of sacred music, a communion rail, reverence, and beauty---things missing in many a novus ordo parish.
If there was an Anglican Use, Ordinariate parish near me, I would go there unless there was an FSSP parish in which case, I would go there.
The last ditch effort by the archbishop to take over and take down this thriving parish is a travesty. For once, Rome actually upheld a holy thing in rescuing OLA. Hopefully the parish is now safe from modernist interference.
The Ordinariate are vastly more Catholic than a great many Novus Ordo parishes. My diocesan bishop
closing churches appears not to seek the Ordinariate take one, as also the Traditional Orders. It is all to be lay orientation.
I'm sure the Anglican Use Mass is beautiful, because it uses KJV English, it draws from the Anglican musical tradition, and the people who made it had a proper sense of formality as opposed to the banality of the Novus Ordo. Aesthetics aside, however, how is it really that different from the Novus Ordo? While great effort was made to create a beautiful liturgy, the Anglican Use still seems like a rupture from tradition to me. Because many traditional, orthodox Catholics seem enthusiastic about it, I must be missing something. What am I missing?

It is essentially the 1570 Missal in regal English with the New Lectionary.
The Prayers at the Foot of the Altar are optional.
The Propers, Introit, etc., must be said/sung, and cannot be substituted with a hymn. They are also not the Novus Ordo propers but from 1570 as are the orations.
There are two options for Offertory with the first choice listed being the ancient as in the 1570 RM and then the Novus Ordo as an option.
There are two Canons, the Roman Canon and EPII. EPII cannot be used on Sunday.
These were politically necessary. Most will use the most traditional.
It points the way forward for a reformed English/vernacular liturgy.
The novus ordo offertory and EP2 were forced in by the Anglicanae Traditiones committee that put together the Missal- NO ONE from the Ordinariate side wanted them in, nor the interruption of the consecration with the "mysterium fidei" response. We have no choice but to use the mysterium Fidei, but as far as I know, none of the Ordinariate groups/parishes uses the novus ordo nonsense. In my parish people would have a conniption if we did. The bigges problem with the missal are the novus ordo options, BUT when there are options, the vast majority of parishes and priests go with the most traditional and pretend the others don't exist.
