Jean Vanier: Stinking fraud, Pervert and Spiritual Guru - Anthing but a model Catholic

L'Arche International, founded by Jean Vanier has commissioned its own study on allegations of sexual and spiritual abuse against its lionised founder and the facts lay clear, the man was a stinking fraud.

Vanier was championed by the Catholic elite in Canada as being the perfect person. Schools were named after him, he was held up as an example of all that is good. Like Thomas Merton, he was an abusive pervert.

This abusive scumbag took advantage of women at their worst spiritual time, even comparing himself and declaring that he was one with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Well Rosica; Is he still? How's life at Southdown?

This writer wrote once about this stinking poseur, with his stinking corpse in the ground I never thought I would need to again.

How was Thomas Merton an abusive person? Are you speaking about his affair with the young nurse when Merton was about fifty years old? (By the way, I like your blog very much.)

Patti Chetwynd-Chatwin. I beg to differ, the description of Vanier, sums up the Roman Catholic church and many of its clerics to a T.

Yes. He abused his position. He abused the woman by leading her into sin. He abused his vocation.

Thanks for reading.

I wonder if this revelation is what will replace those ageing Grade 9 and 10 Religion textbooks in the Ontario Curriculum that hold up Vanier as a shining example to follow.

Inquiring minds would like to know.

Vanier another novus ordo V2 Saint just like Saint Maciel. Both long time pals of Mother Teresa. Both Vanier and Maciel were Big celebrities of the V2 church. Old saying Satan hates Latin and so does the V2 church.

Well...Vanier was a man who apparently liked women. The women he f***ed weren't babies or retarded. Everybody was a willing participant at the time. The claims of magic and mind games are retrospective after this guy has spent about a year(?) 6 feet under.

Me Too victimhood pays dividends and this is just the latest addition to that hullabaloo.

No one's perfect and neither are you.

God bless you Vox for not blaming the woman only in the Merton affair.

I would like to publicly apologise to the author of the blog for disparaging him and his blog, for comments which I made in the heat of the moment and which I did not really mean. I feel ashamed and embarrassed by my remarks.

I worked in L'Arche, Richmond Hill and saw Jean Vanier several times. Each time I saw him, I was impressed/touched/surprised by his totally untouchable and inaccessible radiance and maybe because of the voice of my intuition I did not feel attracted to his person and to meet him. Here and now, years after I left DAYBREAK in Richmond Hill, my intuition is confirmed. It is incredible how deep and sharp our spirit works once wo enter a life of prayer, yes a life of interiority. May God bless you all and accompany you in the coming Lenten Season. Father Peter de Jong

Speaking of Merton, I idolized him as an adolescent, and read everything I could by him. As I got older I became utterly disappointed in him and his years of whining about solitude - then sneaking visitors and his 'girlfriend' in for visits, when he finally got his 'hermitage.'

Basically, he's a perfect 'saint' for francis-church.

Excellent summary about T Merton and the evolution of your perspective toward Merton is similar to many of us who grew up in the spring time of the novus ordo.
