A reader in Australia, which is undergoing a debate and plebiscite on so-called "marriage" between people of the same sex, has advised of scandalous "pastoral letter" by Vincent Long, OFM, the Bishop of Parramatta. In his letter, Long, a Franciscan, writes about now each should vote according to their feelings and not by being a properly formed Catholic.

He actually blasphemes the Holy Spirit when he suggests, that the "Spirit" is saying something through the "signs of the times" that would test the truth of Holy Scripture and Catholic doctrine.

The Holy Spirit is not guiding this debate in Australia for Catholics to suddenly accept marriage within the same sex. The Holy Spirit is not a liar, but this Bishop, Vincent Long Van Nguyen is a liar, a deceiver and no doubt, a homosexualist.

What does this stupid man think that two men do together in bed? Just as with James Martin, they set up "straw men" and want you to believe it is all about love. It is not about which tea-cup and what colour the his and his towels are or the draperies, it is about felching and rimming and fisting and sodomy and oral copulation and slurp ramps and glory holes and coprophilia (as Bergoglio would know about). This is what two men do together. This so-called Bishop cares not about the poor souls, but instead, does not warn the person who will fall in to this deep sin which will take them to Hell.

It is not about love. No faithful Catholic hates anyone suffering with same-sex attraction. But we hate the sin in them as much as any in ourselves. That, is love.

The vote in Australia will no doubt fall in favour of those seeking this change in the definition of marriage.

Pastoral letter on the same-sex marriage postal survey

Dear sisters and brothers,

As I write to you, the national debate on same-sex civil marriage is in full swing. It is an issue that many feel passionate about and hence, it has potential to polarise the community. I appeal to all Catholics in the Diocese of Parramatta to conduct this dialogue with a deep sense of respect for all concerned, and for the opinion and decision that each person is free to make.

It is important to remember from the very outset that the postal survey is about whether or not Australians want the legal definition of civil marriage changed to include same-sex couples. It is not a referendum on sacramental marriage as understood by the Catholic Church.

Many years ago, divorce was legalised in Australia; but this change did not alter the law of the Church. Therefore, whatever the outcome of the survey or the eventual legislation by the government, the Church will continue to hold that marriage is a natural institution established by God to be a permanent union between one man and one woman, directed both to mutual companionship and to the formation of a family in which children are born and nurtured.

For many Catholics, the issue of same-sex marriage is not simply theoretical but deeply personal. These may be same-sex attracted people themselves or that may be the case with their relatives and friends. In such cases, they are torn between their love for the Church and their love for their same-sex attracted child, grandchild, sibling, cousin, friend or neighbour.

As your bishop, I wish to reiterate the commitment I made at my installation: “I am committed to make the church in Parramatta the house for all peoples, a church where there is less an experience of exclusion but more an encounter of radical love, inclusiveness and solidarity.” As a community of disciples, we seek to accommodate, accompany and care for one another irrespective of sexual orientation, marital status and situation.

I invite all Catholics in our Diocese to exercise our responsibility as citizens to engage in this community discernment. It should not be a matter of a simple answer Yes or No to the postal survey. It should be an opportunity for us to witness to our deep commitment to the ideal of Christian marriage. But it should also be an opportunity for us to listen to what the Spirit is saying through the signs of the times.

Throughout much of history, our gay and lesbian (or LGBTI) brothers and sisters have often not been treated with respect, sensitivity and compassion. Regrettably, the Church has not always been a place where they have felt welcomed, accepted and loved. Thus, regardless of the outcome of the survey, we must commit ourselves to the task of reaching out to our LGBTI brothers and sisters, affirming their dignity and accompanying them on our common journey towards the fullness of life and love in God.

Let us pray, discern and act with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. Catholics, in keeping with the tradition of the Church, are asked to exercise their consciences, ensuring that they are informed as they come to exercise their democratic rights in the coming postal survey.

James Martin, S.J. - a man crying out in desperation for attention and secretly for help

One could blog nearly daily on the ravaged mind of James Martin, S.J., and the perverse, corrupted doctrine he bleats on Twitter, Facebook and in various media publications. Martin has been covered numerous times on this blog. Lately, I've avoided writing and instead, just end up shaking my head in disgust and in sadness for what this poor sick man has become.

Given his volume of activity on social media, one could rightly ask, "Does this priest ever pray his Office, or Rosary, does he spend an hour in adoration?" I think the answer must be, "no." How can it be otherwise? If a priest was rising early to read his Office and praying, and ministering to souls, and offering Mass well and hearing confessions, how could he have time to be as active on social media as Martin? How could he write that which he does in what can only be described as a pathological, deranged and obsessive promotion of homosexualism and an outright rejection of the Church's teaching on the grotesque sin of sodomy, effeminacy and same-sex behaviour.

In a recent interview at Fordham University, Martin has gone perhaps further to reveal the severely deranged and poisoned mind to the point where it can only be concluded that James Martin of the Society of Jesus must be possessed by the Devil, Satan himself. No Catholic priest, servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ could every state that which this wretched man does without being possessed by the Evil One. 

Martin and his cronies who leave comments here will no doubt call me a "hater." 

The truth is this; the real "hater" is James Martin. Martin hates himself, he hates Christ and His Church and the truth. He hates the men trapped in a sorrowful and suffering life of homosexuality. These men deserve our love because they are children of the same God. They deserve the truth, that the God who loves them does not expect them to live as they do. They were not born this way. Those who believe, this, who promote this, are liars.

In the Fordham interview, with Patrick Hornbeck, the Chairman of the Department of Theology, Hornbeck makes it clear that he is "married" to his "husband." How has Timothy Dolan, Cardinal Archbishop of New York not removed this man from his position? Let him sue. Take the lawsuit, pay him if you have to, but get him out.

In the interview, Martin states:

“He (a former Religious and friend of Martin) came out and has been with his partner for 20 years. His partner has a fairly serious illness that is at times extremely serious and requires a lot of attention. Mark has cared for him for, I think, 15–20 years now. And one of the questions I would like the institutional Church to reflect on is: 'Is this not love?'

"I have a hard time imagining how even the most traditionalist, homophobic, closed-minded Catholic cannot look at my (active homosexual) friend and say, 'That is a loving act, and that is a form of love that I don't understand but I have to reverence."

Martin dares to use the word "reverence" which has as a synonym, "adoration," something due only to Almighty God and states that we need to use this proper reverence to the people who practice acts of depravity. 

Let us be clear, Martin has set up a "straw-man." He wants you to believe it is all about "love." Of course, one friend should care for another in his sickness, that is what we should all do. But notice how this deceitful priest blends that idea of fraternal love with sodomitical debauchery. What does he think these two men do? It is not about "love."

Where are his Superiors?

James Martin is on his way to Hell. He must repent publicly of his grievous error and do penance. He must live a life of quiet reparation for what he has done to so many souls. Objectively speaking, if James Martin dies tonight, he will end up in Hell. He will be greeted there by those whom he deceived and joined sooner or later by those who failed to correct him.

Martin may interpret this as hate. The truth is, it is out of love for him and his priesthood that this is written.

ROME - Pope Francis has quietly reduced sanctions against a handful of pedophile priests, applying his vision of a merciful church even to its worst offenders in ways that survivors of abuse and the pope’s own advisers question.

One case has come back to haunt him: An Italian priest who received the pope’s clemency was later convicted by an Italian criminal court for his sex crimes against children as young as 12. Father Mauro Inzoli is now facing a second church trial after new evidence emerged against him, The Associated Press has learned.

The Inzoli case is one of several in which Francis overruled the advice of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and reduced a sentence that called for the priest to be defrocked, two canon lawyers and a church official told AP. Instead, the priests were sentenced to penalties including a lifetime of penance and prayer and removal from public ministry.

In some cases, the priests or their high-ranking friends appealed to Francis for clemency by citing the pope’s own words about mercy in their petitions, the church official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the proceedings are confidential. 

“With all this emphasis on mercy … he is creating the environment for such initiatives,” the church official said, adding that clemency petitions were rarely granted by Pope Benedict XVI, who launched a tough crackdown during his 2005-2013 papacy and defrocked some 800 priests who raped and molested children.

At the same time, Francis also ordered three longtime staffers at the congregation dismissed, two of whom worked for the discipline section that handles sex abuse cases, the lawyers and church official said.

One is the head of the section and will be replaced before leaving March 31. Vatican spokesman Greg Burke said the others too will be replaced and that staffing in the office, which has a years long backlog of cases, would be strengthened after Francis recently approved hiring more officials.

“The speed with which cases are handled is a serious matter and the Holy Father continues to encourage improvements in this area,” Burke told AP.

He also dispelled rumors that sex-abuse cases would no longer be handled by the congregation, saying the strengthened office would handle all cases submitted.
Burke said Francis’s emphasis on mercy applied to “even those who are guilty of heinous crimes.” He said priests who abuse are permanently removed from ministry, but are not necessarily dismissed from the clerical state, the church term for laicization or defrocking.

“The Holy Father understands that many victims and survivors can find any sign of mercy in this area difficult,” Burke said. “But he knows that the Gospel message of mercy is ultimately a source of powerful healing and of grace.”

St. John Paul II was long criticized for failing to respond to the abuse crisis, but ultimately he said in 2002 that “there is no place in the priesthood or religious life” for anyone who would harm the young. Francis has repeatedly proclaimed “zero tolerance” for abusive priests and in December wrote to the world’s bishops committing to take “all necessary measures” to protect them.

But he also recently said he believed sex abusers suffer from a “disease” - a medical term used by defense lawyers to seek mitigating factors in canonical sentences.

Marie Collins, an Irish abuse survivor and founding member of Francis’s sex-abuse advisory commission, expressed dismay that the congregation’s recommended penalties were being weakened and said abusers are never so sick that they don’t know what they’re doing.

“All who abuse have made a conscious decision to do so,” Collins told AP. “Even those who are pedophiles, experts will tell you, are still responsible for their actions. They can resist their inclinations.”

Victim advocates have long questioned Francis’s commitment to continuing Benedict’s tough line, given he had no experience dealing with abusive priests or their victims in his native Argentina. While Francis counts Boston’s Cardinal Sean O’Malley as his top adviser on abuse, he has also surrounded himself with cardinal advisers who botched handling abuse cases in their archdioceses.

“They are not having zero tolerance,” said Rocio Figueroa, a former Vatican official and ex-member of the Peru-based Sodalitium Christianae Vitae, a conservative Catholic lay society rocked by sex scandals.

The Vatican recently handed down sanctions against the group’s founder after determining that he sexually, psychologically and physically abused his recruits. His victims, however, are enraged that it took the Vatican six years to decide that the founder should be isolated, but not expelled, from the community.

The church official stressed that to his knowledge, none of Francis’s reduced sentences had put children at risk.

Many canon lawyers and church authorities argue that defrocking pedophiles can put society at greater risk because the church no longer exerts any control over them. They argue that keeping the men in restricted ministry, away from children, at least enables superiors to exert some degree of supervision.

But Collins said the church must also take into account the message that reduced canonical sentences sends to both survivors and abusers.

“While mercy is important, justice for all parties is equally important,” Collins said in an email. “If there is seen to be any weakness about proper penalties, then it might well send the wrong message to those who would abuse.”

It can also come back to embarrass the church. Take for example the case of Inzoli, a well-connected Italian priest who was found guilty by the Vatican in 2012 of abusing young boys and ordered defrocked.

Inzoli appealed and in 2014 Francis reduced the penalty to a lifetime of prayer, prohibiting him from celebrating Mass in public or being near children, barring him from his diocese and ordering five years of psychotherapy.

In a statement announcing Francis’s decision to reduce the sentence, Crema Bishop Oscar Cantoni said “no misery is so profound, no sin so terrible that mercy cannot be applied.”

In November, an Italian criminal judge showed little mercy in convicting Inzoli of abusing five children, aged 12-16, and sentencing him to four years, nine months in prison. The judge said Inzoli had a number of other victims but their cases fell outside the statute of limitations.

Burke disclosed to AP that the Vatican recently initiated a new canonical trial against Inzoli based on “new elements” that had come to light. He declined to elaborate.
Amid questions about how the battle against abuse was faring, Francis recently named O’Malley, who heads his sex-abuse advisory commission, as a member of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. But it’s not clear what influence he can wield from his home base in Boston.

Francis scrapped the commission’s proposed tribunal for bishops who botch abuse cases following legal objections from the congregation. The commission’s other major initiative - a guideline template to help dioceses develop policies to fight abuse and safeguard children - is gathering dust. The Vatican never sent the template to bishops’ conferences, as the commission had sought, or even linked it to its main abuse-resource website.

These people are now owed affirmation, they are owed the truth. They are not owed radical surgery and chemical alterations, they are owed love, compassion an spiritual and psychiatric therapy.

More Bergoglian hypocrisy.  Vatican Radio reports that the Pope has written a preface to a book written by a victim of sexual abuse by a pervert priest, a homosexual.

The facts are nearly all cases of pervert attacks by priests have been on post-pubescent boys between 11 and 17, not little children and not girls, thus proving that the problem is one of admitting to and covering up of sodomites -- homosexuals into the priesthood. Now sodomite should ever be ordained, those that are now priests, should be under strict observation or removed from active ministry. (Yes, this means you dear friend, and you friend, and the other one).

The bishop of the Catholic diocese of Parramatta has called on the church to accept homosexuality, lamenting that the faith is not a “trailblazer” against inequality. Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen has gone further than the Pope, who has said God loves and accepts gay people. 

Bishop Long said it was not good enough to treat gay people with compassion and then define their lifestyle as “intrinsically disordered”.

The comments, del­ivered in a speech in western Sydney last month, are likely to cause consternation in the church hierarchy, which is against same-sex marriage. 

“We cannot talk about the ­integrity of creation, the universal and inclusive love of God, while at the same time colluding with the forces of oppression in the ill-treatment of racial minorities, women and homosexual persons,” Bishop Long said. “It won’t wash with young people, especially when we purport to treat gay people with love and compassion and yet define their sexuality as ‘intrinsically disordered’.

This is particularly true when the church has not been a shining beacon and a trailblazer in the fight against inequality and ­intolerance.” 

Bishop Long was appointed by Pope Francis in May to lead one of Australia’s largest dioceses. The speech is in direct contrast to the views of his predecessor at the diocese, Anthony Fisher, who is now the most senior Catholic in NSW as Archbishop of Sydney. 

The Australian reported in May that Archbishop Fisher condemned the anti-bullying Safe Schools program as even more radical and dangerous social engin­eering than same-sex marriage, to which he is also vehement­ly opposed. Bishop

Long fled Vietnam on a boat in 1979, eventually making it to Australia as a refugee. In his speech, he said the gospel showed that it was the holders of tradition who were often guilty of “prejudice, discrimination and oppressive stereotype”. 

“That is what Jesus consistently does. He has a habit of challenging ingrained stereotyped attitudes, subverting the tyranny of the majority, breaking social ­taboos, pushing the boundaries of love and redefining its meaning,” Bishop Long said. “He questioned the prevailing assumptions and stereotyped attitudes. He turned the presumed order of moral goodness upside down.”
