Laudato si: One little drop

Pope Francis has issued his long-awaited Encyclical, Laudato si. Like a drop of poison in a glass of water, there is much in this document to be questioned and to be concerned about. From the ghostwriter to the presenters, as a Catholic, I find the lowering of the Church's standards to a PR campaign, deplorable.

In an effort to be charitable, we can only conclude that the Pope himself has been duped by evil men surrounding him.

Over a series of short-posts, it is my intent to highlight some of the most egregious statements in this document.

The world is aflame with terrorism and Christian slaughter. Our sister Asia Bibi still languishes in a jail awaiting her death sentence. Once rational nations are sanctioning marriage between those of the same sex and transgenderism and paedophilia are becoming more acceptable. The family is in crisis. The Catholic faith in the West is dying and this is what we get from the Church.

Two days ago I wrote about what is nothing more than a Masonic prayer written by or under the authority of Pope Francis. A prayer that could be recited in the Lodge, a Synagogue a Mosque or around Stonehenge that offers a generic god proven by its preamble and the "Christian" prayer that follows.
9. At the same time, Bartholomew has drawn attention to the ethical and spiritual roots of environmental problems, which require that we look for solutions not only in technology but in a change of humanity; otherwise we would be dealing merely with symptoms. He asks us to replace consumption with sacrifice, greed with generosity, wastefulness with a spirit of sharing, an asceticism which “entails learning to give, and not simply to give up. It is a way of loving, of moving gradually away from what I want to what God’s world needs. It is liberation from fear, greed and compulsion”.[17] As Christians, we are also called “to accept the world as a sacrament of communion, as a way of sharing with God and our neighbours on a global scale. It is our humble conviction that the divine and the human meet in the slightest detail in the seamless garment of God’s creation, in the last speck of dust of our planet”.[18]
[18] “Global Responsibility and Ecological Sustainability”, Closing Remarks, Halki Summit I, Istanbul (20 June 2012).

What are we to think when the Vicar of Christ issues an Encyclical that states that we should accept the world "as a sacrament of communion?" This is not his quote, it is a quote from the close of a an Istanbul meeting. Why would the Holy Catholic Church use such a description that is nothing more that a blasphemy to the true "Sacrament of Communion."

Only one drop friends.

Vox, the substance of your posts is usually spot on.

The prayer line from Istanbul could also be interpreted as 'Hey, we're all related and in this together folks. Let's not mess up." The sense of the word 's'acrament that means "a thing of mysterious and sacred significance." instead of one that blasphemes the Eucharist.

1) The church will not change it's teaching on the family, contraception, abortion, or any other issue that will be debated this fall. It can't and you have to know that to be the case. People can conspire and hold all the secret meetings at the Greg that they want. Have faith.

2) This encyclical needs to be read through the lens of all Catholic social teaching that came before it. Maybe watch Robert Barron's short video on his YouTube channel for some context?

3) LG 25 "... religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra; that is, it must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will."

We have to be careful as to what is and what is not the authentic Magisterium of the Pope. expressing an opinion of support for a scientific (?) position is not part of a Pope's Magisterium. Science by definition changes. The Magisterium does not. Pope John Paul II supported Polands entry into the UE. He was wrong then, and he is even more wrong now. I opposed his position from day one. Poland is now being destroyed by the EU. The Pope was wrong. But, his position was not on Faith or morals. I would recommend to you Anonymous 2:21, a viewing of Fr. Paul Nicholson's analysis of the encyclical.

Robert Barron? Are you serious?

Lumen Gentium? Seriously? Using Vatican II documents to support Vatican II ideology. Priceless! This circular firing squad just keeps getting better.

Lumen Gentium was a dogmatic constitution, no? How is that ideology?

What is wrong with Father Barron? He's an amazing communicator and rector of a major U.S. Seminary is he not?

In regard to the persecutions of Christians...

His Holiness Pope Francis has spoken time and again in loud and clear fashion on behalf of the world's persecuted Christians. Pope Francis has exhorted the United Nations to come to the aid of persecuted Christians.

Pope Francis' comments and exhortations in that regard have received tremendous international news media coverage.

Pope Francis has not hesitated to note that Islamic forces are behind much of the persecution directed at today's persecuted Christians.

Pope Francis even drew the ire of Moslems, which he knew that he would, when he called attention to the Armenian Genocide.

Let us note that Pope Francis has shouted from the rooftops that the persecutions of Christians must cease...that the world must rescue persecuted Christians.

And yet, the global organisations such as the United Nations that have acclaimed this Encyclical have refused to come together to destroy the Islamic hordes destroying the Christian and other peoples of these ancient lands and world historical and archaeological sites.

Fr. Barron has done some amazing things and is well thought of...however he things and says basically that everyone goes to heaven. That is not what Our Lord said.

This pope and this writing (by him and a number of other 'experts') is lauded by progressives, dissenters, heretics, atheists, the president of the US (who has overseen persecution of the Catholic Church), pagans, etc. And many faithful Catholics who do know the age old teachings of the Church are appalled. What does this tell you?

Luke 16: 15 And he said to them, You are always courting the approval of men, but God sees your hearts; what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in God’s sight.

Yes, Vox, to be charitable one would HOPE that he has been duped by, let's say, men with an evil agenda. That said, he did not read carefully what was written in one of his most important 'Encyclicals' even if by several different 'ghost writers'? Maybe ESPECIALLY if written by others? He put his seal on it, which indicates he OWNS it. If you read this thing carefully, it appears to be pagan earth worship. I really don't know how people can see 'Catholic social teaching' in this except for maybe a few scattered statements on abortion and population control of which you would have to scour the thing with a magnifying glass to find. Yes, we are to respect the environment, but not to the point of mystically uniting ourselves with birds, trees, etc. I don't know whether to be embarrassed or terrified.

The Pope doesn't even use the royal "We" or "Us" when speaking in the authority of his office. It is also telling that he had to literally tell us that his encyclical "is now added to the body of the Church’s social teaching," as if trying to mold his opinions into tradition.
What pope has ever had to say such a thing in an encyclical? It's comical.

The use of "I" instead of the royal "We" shows that this is his baby and his opinions. For those who blame the advisers instead of the man holding the office, shame on you.
