Beneficiaries and Instruments of Divine Mercy

Dear Muslim brothers and sisters,

1. The month of Ramadan and ‘Id al-Fitr is an important religious event for Muslims around the world, focused on fasting, prayer and good deeds, and is esteemed by Christians, your friends and neighbours. On behalf of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue and Christians all over the world, we extend best wishes for a spiritually rewarding fast, supported by good deeds, and for a joyful feast.

As is our cherished custom, we wish to share with you on this occasion some reflections in the hope of strengthening the spiritual bonds we share.

2. A theme that is close to the hearts of Muslims and Christians alike is mercy.

We know that Christianity and Islam both believe in a merciful God, who shows his mercy and compassion towards all his creatures, in particular the human family. He created us out of an immense love. He is merciful in caring for each of us, bestowing upon us the gifts we need for our daily life, such as food, shelter and security. God’s mercy is manifested in a particular way, however, through the pardon of our faults; hence he is the one who pardons (al-Ghâfir), but the one who pardons much and always (al-Ghafour).

3. To underscore the importance of mercy, His Holiness Pope Francis declared a Jubilee Year of Mercy to be celebrated from 8 December 2015 to 20 November 2016. In this regard he said: “Here… is the reason for the Jubilee: because this is the time for mercy. It is the favorable time to heal wounds, a time not to be weary of meeting all those who are waiting to see and to touch with their hands the signs of the closeness of God, a time to offer everyone, everyone, the way of forgiveness and reconciliation” (“Homily”, 11 April 2015).

Your pilgrimage (hajj) to the Holy places, mainly Mecca and Medina, is surely a special time for you to experience God’s mercy. In fact, among the well-known aspirations addressed to Muslim pilgrims is: “I wish you a blessed pilgrimage, praiseworthy efforts and the pardon of your sins”. Making a pilgrimage to obtain God’s pardon for sins, both for the living and dead, is truly a salient custom practice among believers.

4. We, Christians and Muslims, are called to do our best to imitate God. He, the Merciful, asks us to be merciful and compassionate towards others, especially those who are in any kind of need. So too he calls us to be forgiving of one another.

When we gaze upon humanity today, we are saddened to see so many victims of conflicts and violence – here we think in particular of the elderly, and children and women, especially those who fall prey to human trafficking and the many people who suffer from poverty, illness, natural disasters and unemployment.

5. We cannot close our eyes to these realities, or turn away from these sufferings. It is true that situation are often very complex and that their solution exceeds our capacities. It is vital, therefore, that all work together in assisting those in need. It is a source of great hope when we experience or hear of Muslims and Christians joining hands to help the needy. When we do join hands, we heed an important command in our respective religions and show forth God’s mercy, thus offering a more credible witness, individually and communally, to our beliefs.

May the Merciful and Almighty God help us to walk always along the path of goodness and compassion!

6. We join our prayerful good wishes to those of Pope Francis for abundant blessings during Ramadan and for a lasting joy of ‘Id al-Fitr.

Following the deaths of 49 Americans at a club in Orlando, murders caused by a Mohammedan terrorist, James Martin, S.J., produced a video which he released on line. As with others, of his ilk, including Edward Beck, of the Passionist Order and known as "Father CNN", and the heresiarchs in Chicago, San Diego, and St. Petersburg, the real fault here is the hatred and intolerance of Catholics for persons with same-sex attraction.

This is where Fr. Martin’s skewed understanding of faith is so dangerous. You see, by justifying, rationalizing or even ignoring the sinful acts of homosexuality, we are, in essence, saying, “Come home and bring the prostitutes with you.” What are you saying, Fr. Martin? In opposition with very clear biblical and Church teachings that homosexual acts are gravely sinful, are you saying that is no longer true? Or, are you saying, “Come home and bring the prostitutes with you?” Maybe the whole idea of being separated from God when we engage in mortal sin is a “hateful concept” for you?

These men are liars and deceivers.

Mohammedans want to send "gay" persons to Hell. Catholics want them saved from it.


James Martin, Edward Beck and others of their ilk are liars. They wish to not only meet people where they are but keep them there. Instead of bringing them out of the mire, they only sink into it with them.

True respect and love for "Gay" men and women is found in pointing out the error of their ways and calling them to repentance in Jesus Christ and His Sacraments. Leaving them in their sin is to hate them.

These men will spend in eternity in Hell looking into the faces of those whom they deceived.

We must hope that some of those murdered by the Mohammedan, asked God for mercy before they died. We must pray that those who survived, may see it as a gift and repent of the lifestyle of sin that they have trapped themselves in.

These priests and bishops are amongst the worst enemies of people locked in their sins.

Robert Lynch - another episcopal liar and deceiver

The Sunday  morning attack on a night club in Orlando was an attack on Americans. It was also, no doubt, targeted by the Mohammedan murderer because the club was full of people attending who were "gay" and "lesbian" and "transgendered," which their unholy book orders to be killed. He was simply following his creed.

This was another case of terrorism inspired by Mohammed. This is how Islam spread across the Middle East and North Africa and into parts of southern Europe. By murder, mayhem and butchery. Those who refuse to see history repeating itself will eventually be victims of this same evil. 

Robert Lynch is the Bishop of St. Petersburg. He has just tendered his resignation to Pope Francis, having turned 75.

Jesuits declare Church rebranding spoken of by Rosica complete - The Church of Pope Francis!

As part of the ongoing "rebranding" of the Catholic Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ as announced recently by Father Thomas J. Rosica of the Congregation of St. Basil and Canada's ever growing and relevant, Salt + Light Television, America Magazine, that Jesuitical periodical of Catholic tradition and orthodoxy, has today declared the next stage of the Rosica rebranding as the "Church of Pope Francis."

It seems that these Jesuits have determined that the Society of Jesus is no longer relevant to the preaching of the Gospel and the conversion of pagans, as they once were. Rumour has it, that the Society founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola will soon be renamed the Society of Francis in keeping with the global Catholic rebranding and the Francis Effect.

In other news, Asia Bibi still languishes in a prison in the Islamic State of Pakistan awaiting her death. When asked to comment on her continue imprisonment, America Magazine editor-at-largesse James Martin EssJay, stated, "Ah, Asia, I've been there once, but isn't Bibi the Israeli Prime Minister?"

Pope Francis dreams of the end of the Europe

Look at these two. Take a good look. They laugh and joke with each other and plot the destruction of European civilisation, or what is left of it.

The one on the left is an old East German communist. She hates her German past.  The one on the right? He is a Peronist; an economic Marxist. He is incompetent in regard to what is happening; at best he is ill-informed, at worst, he is a party to it. 

The two of these are plotting the end of Europe. The crisis which we saw last summer is coming again. It is a plot being managed by a great unseen hand to undermine the last remaining vestiges of a Christian culture in Europe. How evil is it that the Vicar of Christ on Earth is part of this evil machination to undermine Europe's past and future. The problem of the "migrants" must be solved. It must be solved by utterly destroying the evil force which caused it and then send them back to rebuilt their own nation states.

If, Europe was strongly Christian. If Jorge Bergoglio was not a purveyor of false ecumenism and religious indifferentism then maybe Europe might have something to gain by accepting these people. Since neither are the case, it is Europe's death knell.

What is happening is a plan to destroy Europe and bring it into chaos. That's right, "order out of chaos." This great, unseen, manipulative, and demonic hand that is causing this is full supported by these two. Merkel, I can understand, but the Vicar of Christ on Earth?

Do I have no sympathy? Yes, I surely do. The blood in my veins is from Mount Lebanon. The Syrians are my cousins. The issue is similar to that of Donald Trump and the "wall." Nations have a right and a duty to protect themselves from invasion. What we are seeing in both examples is an invasion. The solution is the opposite of Bergoglio's "dream," it is in fact, a wall! The other part is to stop the reason for it.

The plan is simple; undermine European culture and threaten its very existence, riots and civil unrest, even civil war will erupt as Europeans fight back; the Mohammedan migrants will create chaos, rapes, murder, terror, and mayhem. Europe will enforce martial law and the erasing of all borders in order to make it happen across the continent. The realisation that Islam is a problem will be solved. A new religion, a new dynamic of dialogue will emerge. There will be one religion for all Europeans. They will buy into it for the sake of peace and security. They will sell their very souls for it. It will start there and it will come here. It will be secularist, universalist. it will be the cosmic "christ" and "christ" consciousness. I am christ, you are christ, we are christ. I am mahomet, you are mahomet. we are all one. 

It's all been written down in a book on the Island of Patmos.

POPE FRANCIS TELLS EU TO TEAR DOWN MIGRANT WALLS

Vatican City (AFP) - Pope Francis said Friday he dreamed of a Europe in which "being a migrant is not a crime", as he urged EU leaders to "tear down the walls" and build a fairer society.

Invoking the memory of the EU founding fathers' pursuit of integration in the aftermath of World War II, the pontiff said they inspired because they had "dared to change radically the models" that had led to war.

"Today more than ever, their vision inspires us to build bridges and tear down walls," he told a Vatican audience including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has been at the centre of the EU's attempts to resolve its biggest refugee crisis since the war ended in 1945.

And in a rhetorical flourish with echoes of Martin Luther-King's legendary 'I have a dream' speech, the pope said he dreamed of a new European humanism that embraced the poor, the elderly, the young and the sick.

"I dream of a Europe where being a migrant is not a crime but a summons to greater commitment on behalf of the dignity of every human being," he said.

Francis's comments came in a speech as the 79-year-old pontiff was presented with the EU's Charlemagne Prize for his contribution to European unification.

Having unexpectedly decided to accept the award, Francis delivered a typically hard-hitting message to listeners that also included the heads of the EU's main institutions, the Council, the Commission, the Parliament and its central bank.

"What has happened to you, the Europe of humanism, the champion of human rights, democracy and freedom?" he asked. "What has happened to you, Europe, the home of poets, philosophers, artists, musicians, and men and women of letters?"

Francis has made the cause of migrants trying to reach Europe one of the defining themes of his papacy.

He has regularly railed against the "indifference" of western societies to their plight and last month he made a high-profile visit to Lesbos, the Greek island on the frontline of the crisis, returning to the Vatican with three Syrian families seeking asylum from the civil war ravaging their homeland.

- A memory transfusion needed -

He has also attacked what he says is an arbitrary division being made between asylum seekers and so-called economic migrants -- a distinction at the heart of Merkel and other EU leaders' vision of how to resolve the crisis.

Borrowing a phrase from writer and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, the Argentinian pontiff said Friday that Europe needed a "memory transfusion" to free itself from the temptation of "quick and easy short-term political gains."

And after that reference to the migrant crisis, Francis went on to say Europe had to fundamentally change its economic model to give the continent's youth the security they needed to build a new world.

"If we want to rethink our society, we need to create dignified and well-paying jobs, especially for our young people," he said.

"To do so requires coming up with new, more inclusive and equitable economic models, aimed not at serving the few, but at benefiting ordinary people and society as a whole.

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Parliament President Martin Schulz explained the decision to give the award to such a regular and prominent critic of the EU in a column for France's Le Monde.

"Some will joke that the European Union must be in a bad way if it is in need of papal assistance," they wrote.

"We are convinced that Pope Francis deserves this prize, however, simply because he has sent Europe a message of hope.

"Perhaps we needed an Argentinian to turn his outsider's gaze on the innermost values which bind us Europeans together, to remind us of our strengths.

"After all, at times when the words 'Europe' and 'crisis' are often uttered in the same breath it is easy to forget what Europe has achieved and what it is capable of."

Isis 'bans all Christians from leaving Raqqa' as military operations against group intensify in Syria

There was no explanation for the reported decree, which came after the group was driven out of Palmyra

Isis has reportedly forbidden all Christian and Armenian families from leaving its Syrian stronghold of Raqqa "under any circumstances" as military operations intensify.

The so-called Islamic State released a decree effectively keeping all members of the minorities under house arrest, Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS) said.

"We don't know the real reason but we think Isis want them as human shields or hostages," a spokesperson added.

Activists with the group, which documents atrocities in the Syrian city, counted 43 Christian families remaining on Thursday.

One of its members writing under the alias Abu Mohammed said the ban was implemented without any explanation at Easter, which they have been unable to celebrate for the past three years under the terrorist group's rule.

He wrote that most of the trapped families are poor workers who could not afford to move elsewhere even when they had the chance.

"They suffer from the decisions and practices of the organisation (Isis), which has occupied their places of worship while forcing them to pay tribute, although they are deprived from practicing their rituals and religious practices," Mr Mohammed said, saying they are also subject to regular harassment.

Rami Abdulrahman, from the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights cast doubt on the new order, saying Raqqa's entire population was already confined to the city.

“Isis stopped everybody leaving Raqqa. Muslims, not only Christians,” 

Most of Raqqa's former Christian and Armenian residents fled alongside other civilians and minorities when the city was seized from the Syrian regime by allied Islamist and opposition rebels in 2013.

Isis consolidated its hold the following year, sparking another wave of migration as its fighter executed Alawites and laid waste to Shia mosques and Christian and Armenian churches.

As with its other strongholds across Syria and Iraq, the group orders non-Sunni Muslims to convert, leave or remain on the condition they give up their property, pay special taxes (jizya) and sign a "dhimma" contact agreeing to abide by Sharia law.

Those who stay face increased scrutiny and surveillance, with accusations of public worship, attempting to convert others and other contraventions punishable by death.

This week's reported crackdown came amid a series of reported measures by Isis, which appears to be suffering the consequences of efforts by the US-led coalition to choke its revenue streams and infrastructure.

It has also been shaken by one of its biggest military defeats in Palmyra, which has been seized by regime forces and death of one of its top commanders.

RBSS said the group was making courses in taxi driving, medical care, engineering and other roles mandatory for all citizens in a suspected move to recruit more civilians.

Militants are also reportedly forcing more people to undergo courses in its ideology and jihad, while rationing electricity and temporarily cutting off water supplies as the humanitarian situation in the city deteriorates further.

Fighters' salaries were cut according to a decree issued earlier this year and the group is said to have become increasingly reliant on the US dollar after a failed attempt to start its own currency.

The US-led coalition said it conducted 27 strikes against Isis on Wednesday, mostly against tactical units and fighting positions in Iraq.

The group is not part of the current Syrian ceasfire, which does not apply to Jabhat al-Nusra, an al-Qaeda affiliate, and other internationally recognised terrorist groups.

Isis has been dealt a series of blows in recent weeks, which have seen the death of one of its top commanders and the seizure of Palmyra by Syrian forces backed by Russian air strikes.

The ancient city lies more than 100 miles to the south-west of Raqqa but Russian state media said its capture could mark the start of a campaign to drive miltiants out of their de-facto capital.

It sits along a key motorway that links the two cities with Deir Ezzor, which is also seeing fierce fighting to dislodge Isis.

Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil - no evidence he has been murdered

Notwithstanding media and blog reports, there is no official confirmation of the murder of Father Tom Uzhunnalil. All we have is an alleged statement by Cardinal Schoenborn. There is no video or recording of him saying it, and if he did, this writer would not believe anything out of the mouth of Schoenborn even if he said the sky was blue.

If Father was murdered - crucified, then the news should be coming to us from his Order, the Salesians, or his family.

Continue to pray that God will soften the hearts of the Muslims who hold him prisoner.

Several blogs and media outlets are reporting that Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil was crucified by ISIS on Good Friday.

There has been no confirmation of the event by friends, family or Fr. Uzhunnalil’s community. The original reports were based on a statement Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna allegedly made during Easter vigil services.

Bishop Paul Hinder of Southern Arabia (a region in Saudi Arabia, the country just north of Yemen where Fr. Uzhunnalil was kidnapped), told CNA on Monday that he has “strong indications that Fr. Tom is still alive in the hands of the kidnappers,” but could not give further information in order to protect the life of the priest. Bishop Hinder added that Cardinal Schönborn has since corrected his alleged statement, which was made on the basis of an incorrect statement from Archbishop Moras in Bangalore.

“Cardinal Schönborn has already corrected his statement which he had made on the basis of the wrong statement of Archbishop Moras in Bangalore. Certain media in India are too nervous and curious and not aware that they are playing with the life of Fr. Tom. I cannot say more for the reason I gave in my first sentence (to protect the life of Fr. Tom),” Bishop Hinder told CNA.

Rumors of a possible impending crucifixion spread last week on the basis of an unconfirmed e-mail and were dismissed by Fr. Uzhunnalil’s Salesian community as hearsay.

“We have absolutely no information” on Fr. Uzhunnalil, said Father Mathew Valarkot, spokesman for the Salesians’ Bangalore province to which the kidnapped priest belongs. His comments were reported last week by both by ANS news, a Salesian news agency, and UCA News, an independent Catholic news source in Asia.

Correction (3/28 11:02 a.m.): A previous version of this story said Bishop Hinder was from Southern Arabia, the country just north of Yemen where Fr. Tom was kidnapped. Southern Arabia is a region in Saudi Arabia, the country just north of Yemen. The story has been changed to reflect this correction.

For the first time since 1558, Mawlid—the Muslim celebration of Muhammad’s birth—will fall this year on December 24 and 25.

Christians and Muslims “should give thanks to God, each in his own tradition, for the good news that is the birth of Jesus or Muhammad,” Father Vincent Feroldi wrote on the French episcopate’s website.

Cautioning against “syncretism in comparing Jesus and Muhammad,” the priest, who directs the National Service for Relations with Muslims, said that it is a fitting time for Christians and Muslims to meet in “fraternity and amity” and in “mutual respect and recognition.”

It is also an apt time for Christians “to discover the place given to Jesus and Mary in the Qur’an,” he added.

En 2015, la célébration de la naissance de Jésus, le Verbe fait chair, coïncide avec celle du Prophète Mohammed. Le Mawlid aura lieu le 24 décembre pour la totalité du monde arabe et le 25 décembre pour le reste de la planète. Eclairage du Père Vincent Feroldi, Directeur du Service National pour les Relations avec les Musulmans (SNRM) avant l’émission Islam, sur France 2, le 27 décembre.

Depuis plusieurs jours, les médias algériens et marocains en parlent. L’émission Islam de France 2 du 27 décembre 2015 (8h45-9h15) en fera son thème. Des diocèses (Metz, Angers, Lille…) se sont mobilisés autour de l’événement. Chrétiens et musulmans s’en réjouissent en Belgique, en France, au Maghreb…

Cette année, la célébration de la naissance de Jésus, le Verbe fait chair, coïncide avec celle du Prophète Mohammed. Le Mawlid aura lieu le 24 décembre pour la totalité du monde arabe et le 25 décembre pour le reste de la planète. Cette fête permet aux musulmans d’exprimer leur reconnaissance au Prophète, de se rappeler ses vertus, de prier et de vivre un heureux temps familial.

Communautés chrétienne et musulmanes auront ainsi le cœur en fête. Elles rendront grâce à Dieu, chacune dans sa tradition, pour cette bonne nouvelle qu’est la naissance de Jésus ou de Mohammed, naissances qui vont être source d’une rencontre entre des hommes et femmes croyants et Celui qui Source de vie, source de la Vie.

Dans cette unité de date rarissime, beaucoup veulent y voir un signe de Dieu, en ces temps difficiles où la paix annoncée par les anges, la nuit de Noël, est malmenée par la folie des hommes.

Mawlid et Noël 2015 : Fêtons ce qui nous unit sans ignorer ce qui nous différencie

C’est en effet la première fois depuis 457 années que ces fêtes de Mawlid – ou Mouloud – et de Noël seront célébrées au même moment. Il faut en effet remonter à l’année 1558 pour trouver une configuration comparable (c’était le 12 Rabiaa Al-Awal de l’an 966 de l’Hégire), alors qu’en 1852, le Mawlid coïncidait avec le 25 (c’était l’an 1269 de l’Hégire).

Pour tous, il ne s’agit pas de verser dans un quelconque syncrétisme, en comparant Jésus et Mohammed. Nous sommes conscients de ce qui nous unit et de ce qui nous différencie. Mais cette simultanéité des fêtes est une très belle opportunité de rencontres et d’échanges. Elle offre la possibilité de se dire que nous sommes heureux d’être ensemble, croyants, dans une même attitude spirituelle et humaine où, d’une part, nous nous tournons vers Dieu dans la prière et, d’autre part, nous vivons des temps de fraternité et d’amitié, en famille et avec nos proches voisins et amis.

Heureux sommes-nous donc de pouvoir nous accueillir mutuellement entre chrétiens et musulmans en cette période de Noël !

Heureux sommes-nous de pouvoir exprimer en cette fin d’année, par la parole, par un vœu, par des gâteaux offerts, le respect et la reconnaissance mutuels des deux traditions religieuses.

Heureux sommes-nous de pouvoir donner à nos contemporains un signal majeur sur le « vivre ensemble » en cette époque où, au nom de la religion et de Dieu, certains prêchent la haine ou commettent des attentats.

Profitons aussi de ce moment, pour nous chrétiens, de découvrir la place donnée à Jésus et Marie dans le Coran ! Une sourate entière – la sourate 19 Maryam – est dédiée à la Vierge Marie. Nous y lisons au verset 16 : « Mentionne dans le Livre (le Coran), Marie, quand elle se retira de sa famille dans un lieu vers l’Orient ». Et le verset 21 parle de son fils : « Nous ferons de lui un signe pour les gens, et une miséricorde de notre part. C’est une affaire déjà décidée ».

Oui ! En 2015, Jésus le Sauveur est bien signe, grâce et miséricorde pour tous les hommes ! Il est le Prince de la Paix !

Former Muslim "Christians" terrorise Catholics at Mass!

There is a disturbing report from a television station, KTNV in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

Parishioners are terrified after protesters have disturbed Mass at several Catholic churches across the valley.

 

The group, Koosha Las Vegas, includes members who clearly identify themselves as former Muslims turned Christians. They’ve been entering churches during services, shouting at Catholics that they need to repent now or else, and filming the acts and posting them on the internet.

 

The videos make clear the group has been active on the Las Vegas Strip and several other places around the valley; they’re often seen with large signs and megaphones. The difference now is that they’re going into houses of worship and causing disturbances. Parishioners tell Action News it’s made them fear for their lives.

 

“Repent, and turn to Jesus Christ. Pope is a Satan! Pope is a Satan! Mary statue is a Satan!” the man behind the camera can be heard shouting.

 

The videos are taken by the very people passing out the pamphlets and shouting during mass in at least 3 incidents confirmed by police. The Catholic Diocese of Las Vegas confirmed to Action News “multiple disturbances at several of their properties”.

First, it is great that these Muslims have determined that they've been following a false religion. The fact is, they are still not following the true Religion and have not been baptised and are still in the clutches of Satan.

Catholicism is the only choice for conversion, redemption and salvation.

The bigger question is this. What is it in the mind of these young men beyond the still spiritual darkness that causes this kind of anti-social behaviour? 

My Muslim brothers and sisters. You cannot stay within the death cult of Islam and find salvation. You will go to Hell. Come to Christ, come to Jesus, Son of God, Son of Man. He is the only Way. Come to Him, but come to Him in the fullness of the Truth, the Catholic faith.

Pope visits mosque, bows before the Mihrab

I AM the LORD thy GOD, which have brought thee out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

In the Central African Republic as in most of Africa, Asia and the Middle East, Christians both Catholic and non-Catholic have been slaughtered by Muslims.

In a visit to a mosque there, the Pope said.

"Christians and Muslims and members of traditional religions have lived peacefully for many years," the pontiff said. "Together, we say 'no' to hatred, to vengeance and violence, especially that committed in the name of a religion or God."

It is reported that the Pope turned to face the mihrab, bowed his head and prayed. The mihrab is an architectural feature of a mosque. It is a shell shape and richly decorated. It is where the Imam gives his talk and it is where all Muslim bow because it points them to the Kabaa, in Mecca.

The Pope of Rome bowed to the Kabaa and the false god of Mahomet and he bows at Mass after the elevation but he does not genuflect. I imagine that that the inference that Catholics can draw from this is that Jorge Bergoglio believes that there is no difference between bowing to the god of Mecca and bowing to the God of the Universe in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Yet, the Mass requires the priest to genuflect, which he does not do, yet he follows the Muslim command to bow before Mecca.

The mosque's chief imam, Tidiani Moussa Naibi, thanked Francis for his visit, calling it "a symbol which we all understand."

Yeah, I bet they "understand" more than we think.

What did St. Thomas Aquinas say about the god of Mecca and its founder?

"He (Mohammed) seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh urges us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected; he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. 

He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth. On the Contrary, Mohammed said that he was sent in the power of his arms - which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants. What is more, no wise men, men trained in things divine and human, believed in him from the beginning (1). Those who believed in him were brutal men and desert wanderers, utterly ignorant of all divine teaching, through whose numbers Mohammed forced others to become his follower's by the violence of his arms. Nor do divine pronouncements on part of preceding prophets offer him any witness. On the contrary, he perverts almost all the testimony of the Old and the New Testaments by making them into a fabrication of his own, as can be seen by anyone who examines his law. It was, therefore, a shrewd decision on his part to forbid his followers to read the Old and New Testaments, lest these books convict him of falsity. It is thus clear that those who place faith in his words believe foolishly."
