Many see Beroglgio's betrayal of Christ and believe themselves virtuous for seeking to deny what they see. It is an insult to intelligence and denial of their God-given nature. We are equipped with reason and free will.
Bergoglio is not even attempting to hide his intentions any more. If he were proceeding cautiously in the beginning, he is openly pressing the gas pedal now. I believe it was in 2017 that he visited a Jesuit seminary and praised his favourite professor. That "old and wise" Jesuit who impressed Bergoglio has taught him to keep his real thoughts to himself, and share them only among like-minded people.
Over the years Bergoglio was very successful in legitimizing and praising sodomy and sodomites. Most Catholics have become like-minded regarding this degeneracy. They promote it. As taught by the old Jesuit, Bergoglio can now share his real thoughts openly.
