Good Cardinals, Bad Cardinals

The Radical Catholic has a good commentary today worth reading with regards to recent comments by Cardinals Müller, Sarah and Brandmüller who have all called Cardinal Walter Kasper's Synodal machinations, "heretical." Let us remember what Cardinal Müller said:

"Any separation of the theory and the practice of the faith would, in its formulation, represent a subtle christological heresy." 

Radical Catholic applies that statement to comments by Washington Cardinal Donald Wuerl:

"I think one of the reasons we're having this Synod, one of the reasons the Holy Father has asked for two Synods, is to reflect on the situation today. When we talk about doctrinal 'givens,' things that are 'fixed,' we're talking about something such as, in what marriage consists. The reception of Communion is not a doctrinal position; it's a pastoral application of the doctrine of the Church. And that involves a number of things: it involves the mercy of God, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the conscience of the individual person, the state of the soul of that individual person - all of those things are quite distinct from a statement in the doctrine of the Church concerning the nature of marriage. And I think we have to sort those things out. And that's probably what's going to go on in these two Synods. We're not in a position to say, "This is how this must be understood today," if all we intend to say is, "It must be repeated," i.e. what we said in the past. We have to repeat the doctrine, but the pastoral practice is what we're talking about. That's why we're having the Synod, and just to repeat the practice of the past, without any effort to see, "Is there some awareness, openness, influence of the Spirit, that might be helping us - in total continuity with our past practice - to find a new direction today?"

This same statement by the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith can be applied to this statement frequently uttered on video by Father Thomas J. Rosica, CSB at conferences apparently originated by Richard Gaillardetz Joseph Professor of Catholic Systematic Theology at Boston College as written in the September 25 2013 issue of the National Catholic Reporter:

Will this pope rewrite controversial church doctrines? No, but that isn't how doctrine changes. Doctrine changes when pastoral contexts shift and new insights emerge such that particular doctrinal formulations no longer mediate the saving message of God's transforming love. Doctrine changes when the church has leaders and teachers who are not afraid to take note of new contexts and emerging insights. It changes when the church has pastors who do what Francis has been insisting on for the last six months: Leave the security of your chanceries, rectories, parish offices and episcopal residences. Set aside the "small-minded rules" that keep you locked up and shielded from the world. Go meet the people where they are.

We have just six months until round two of the "battle" that Cardinal Kasper whined about recently. Yes indeed, it is a battle and we will not lay down and allow Cardinals and others with heretical ideas as confirmed by these three Cardinals run over the Church and the Catholic faithful.

Many have and will suffer for it as we have seen and I include myself in that with the imprudent and unjust actions against me by Father Thomas Rosica of the Congregation of St. Basil with his failed attempt to bankruptcy into silence. There can be no silence in the face of this potential heresy that some would perpetrate. We see the evil and confusion that is proffered by some Cardinals such as Kasper and Danneels, Marx and Wuerl and bishops with a homosexualist and homoheresy agenda such as Bonny, Currie and Lynch. Thank God that it is being balanced by voices of truth and clarity and filled with Christ such as Cardinal Burke and these three.

How many Cardinals does it take to condemn a heresy?

If I had been gifted with more wit by Almighty God, I'd be able to turn that into one heck of a joke. I'm sure there's at least a mediocre one in there somewhere.

As many of you know by now, Cardinal Walter Brandmüller, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Commission for Historical Sciences, has gone on record in condemnation of any proposal to change Catholic teaching on marriage as heresy. As reported on LifeSiteNews yesterday, when asked whether the Church can change its teaching on marriage without falling into grave error, the good Cardinal replied:

Raymond Cardinal Burke advises us to prepare for the worst in defense of marriage -martyrdom" if necessary. The Filipino Tagle speaks of the need to avoid "harsh" and "severe" language. For Cardinal Burke to make such a statement he must know those selected for the Synod are thinking. Dare we ask, is the Synod stacked? If it is, who would have done such a thing, and why?

This blog and its writer and spouse will stand with the unbroken Catholic faith from Our Lord Jesus Christ. We know that this is where Cardinal Burke stands. As for Tagle and the rest of these, where do they stand and with whom? 

I've said it before and I will say it again, no matter the price we must not concede.

These men, and you know their names; these men will try to change doctrine by stealth. They will put forward and try to ram through the Synod pastoral practices, initiatives and new ways of speaking that will change doctrine, regardless. This is not a false statement on my part, they have admitted it! It is also important to watch carefully who is supporting whom in this debate. If New Ways Ministry comes out supporting the statements made by a certain prelate, what does this tell us?

You know it. I know it. They know it and they know that we know it; and they will bear, oops, I mean "bare" their teeth because they are not bears but wolves! (shout out from the Vox to E.M. for catching that and adding to the sentence!)

We will stand up to them. We will not be silenced. We will not allow them to tear down the faith and doctrine. 

Further, as Mundabor writes; (admit it now, you read him!) "Whatever happens we will stay in the Church Christ founded;" and we will beat these pigs out of the Temple if it kills us!

In England, one cardinal says brace for martyrdom over marriage, while another denounces ‘harsh’ language

March 12, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Two cardinals active at October’s Extraordinary Synod on the Family offered strikingly contrasted messages on the hot-button issues from the Synod in talks to crowds in England on the weekend.

While American Cardinal Raymond Burke urged Christians to be prepared to face martyrdom if need be in defense of marriage, Filipino Cardinal Luis Tagle’s remarks on the issue focused on the need to avoid “harsh” and “severe” language about homosexuals and Catholics who ‘remarry’ without an annulment.

Rosica lectures: What really happened at the Synod

The Windsor Star has a fascination with Father Tom Rosica. Their first foray together was whilst Father was still a Deacon in Amherstburg, Ontario at the Parish of St. John the Baptist. Perusing that old article reveals much about this man and his heterodox Catholicism, contradicting even then the clear teaching on the Holy Eucharist. He criticized his local bishop and promoted a disordered ecumenism then and even recently with Anglicans in Toronto. It may come as a surprise to Father Rosica, but Pope Benedict XVI was the true ecumenist with Anglicanorum Coetibus. If Tom Rosica wants to present on Salt + Light anything to do with Anglicans in Canada and ecumenism it should be to preach to them that the door is open and the place for Anglicans who want the truth and who find themselves within the dying and heretical Anglican Church is in the Ordinariate. Instead, Rosica chooses to continue with the same error, the same useless "sharing" of his days at Amherstburg.


Last year, in November 2013 Rosica gave an interview to the same newspaper where he opined that the Church was entering a "radical" period, he in fact applauded it. He later spoke on this theme as part of the Christian Culture Series.

In November of this year, Father Tom Rosica appeared again at that same conference and gave a dissertation on the recent Synod on the Family. He again was interviewed by the same newspaper.

Let us remember the attempt by many to manipulate the synod in favour of an adulterist and homosexualist agenda undermining two millennia of Catholic teaching coming itself from Our Blessed Lord and the Holy Spirit.

Rosica tells the reporter that the recent Synod was perhaps the "most discussed in history," a short history I might add since it is a post Vatican II phenomena. Rosica indicates this in particular because of the impact it is "having on the world." 

The greatest problem in the world right now is Christian persecution and the beheadings and kidnapping of innocents by Islamist fascists. The Synod has had no impact on the world. Ninety nine point nine percent of people couldn't care less; others are simply trying to survive today. Even most Catholics did not know it happened but might have heard something about changing teaching. However, the changing of doctrine through pastoral stealth will have a deleterious affect on an already decaying and suffering world. As goes the Church, so goes the world.

"Having been the spokesperson (spokesman perhaps?) for the synod on the inside, this will be the first major public lecture in Canada to tell people what really happened at the synod, the implications for the Church and what is the process, the journey that we are on right now" said Rosica.

Priests and bishops conspired to distort Catholic teaching for their own ends, for their own visions. The Church and this Synod were infiltrated by modernists, heretics, adulterists and homosexuals with an agenda to change the doctrine of the Church through stealth, by changing pastoral practice. I do not believe that this was part of Father Rosica's revelation to the people of Windsor.

"Groups have it" I assume he means the final report to the bishops conferences, "and it is a really good rallying point to focus on important issues."

So what are these "important issues?"  

Are they the high rate of divorce and the abandonment of children by their fathers resulting from an incorrect understanding of Catholic matrimony because you and the bishops did not properly catechise? Is it perhaps the burdensome tax systems and urban expenses that cause mothers to leave the home to assist in the support of the family? Is it perhaps the homosexualist agenda of the corruption of our education system to take our children even further from our faith? Is it rampant contraception violating the sanctity of marriage or the use of abortion by Catholics? Is the problem in the Church really Holy Communion for the divorced and remarried or that we have no respect for individuals suffering from same-sex attraction? How about the affect of pornography upon the family?

Once again, Rosica's style is to issue little phrases and snippets of truth without explaining the reality and actuality of that truth. He goes on to say that "I feel that deep down something has to change here." 

I could care less about what this priest "feels." I care about doctrine and faith and what Our Lord expects of us and His Church. It is not about what Tom Rosica "feels" or anyone "feels." It is not up to him, it is not about what he feels!

"There should be a real dialogue, and that dialogue, that exchange was present in the early church, " says Roscia. Here we see again from that first article as a Deacon, he returns to that concept of "sharing." Where has the Church not had dialogue?: He speaks as if we've only now emerged from some dark age. What exactly is this dialogue that seems lacking? If Father Rosica or anyone else wants a synodal and democratic church then join the Church of England. How about a Romanuorum Coetibus from the Archlayman of Canterbury?

"A lot of people who were on the fringes have said, wow, there might be a place for me."..."I'm divorced and remarried and I felt disenfranchised and all of a sudden there's a place for me. Or somebody who's struggling with homosexuality and they realise that they have a certain dignity and value. The church is not saying anything goes by any means, it's saying every single person has an inherent dignity and value which cannot be underestimated."

This is poppycock!

Again, it is about "feelings." When did the Church "disenfranchise" anyone? People "disenfranchise themselves.

I was divorced, I was never "disenfranchised" for it. I followed Church teaching and when I failed, I had a remedy. I sought a decree of nullity and was granted it. I am now married to a beautiful and supportive Catholic woman. (As an aside, let me add something for my detractor who continues to express gossip and calumny in writing to others now even that my blogging means that I am "neglecting" my wife. I'm not good enough for his slander, he now belittles himself by going after my marriage and my wife. Well, her message to Barkin up the Wrong Tree is "if this is neglect, bring it on!")

Where is the lack of dignity for those suffering from same-sex attraction?

Has our good priest heard of Courage or what they thought of Archbishop Forte and his homosexualist shenanigans?

I have a friend who was a serious gay activist for many years. He came home to the Church and I was honoured to have been a lector at his marriage to a Catholic woman! He was always treated with dignity and respect by everyone in what some would consider to be an "extremely" orthodox Catholic community where both Forms of the Roman Rite are celebrated. I may be wrong but certainly, I know of nobody who ever chastised him or insulted him because of his former ways. As the Psalmist wrote, "my sins are always before me" and in reality, "who am I too judge?" as I have so many of my own of which I am not proud. This lie that the Church hates homosexuals must be put to rest. If a person truly repents and endevors to live a Christian life, even falls but gets back up through the sacraments, that is what we all strive for. This is not new, it is what the Church has always taught. For Rosica to suggest otherwise is a fallacy and an attempt at manipulation of the facts and is evident of the machinations in Rome.

At the conference, Rosica said "You may have heard or read that this Synod has been about changing the teaching of the Church on marriage family life or sexual morality. This is not true! It was about pastoral care that we try to offer to each other..."

It was exactly about changing the teaching through stealth by changing pastoral practice. 

How did belief in the Real Presence change? By changing the practice with communion in the hand and standing. How did belief in the Mass as a sacrifice change? By changing the practice so that it resembles a communion meal and is a commemoration of the Last Supper.

As I've written previously, those of us that see through what was happening at the Synod, through the manipulation and the spin, even from highly-placed clerics are not going to let this go unchallenged. Every article they write, every speech they give that we can find will be responded to publicly.

We are in a fight for the truth, there will be no let up from those who will seek to change doctrine and teaching through pastoral manipulations and there will be no let up from those of us who believe what our Lord taught and the Holy Spirit has revealed.

Cardinal urges Pope Francis to take hot-button issues off table for next family synod

Warning that Satan was sowing confusion and error about matrimony, the cardinal patron of the Knights of Malta said, “Even within the church there are those who would obscure the truth of the indissolubility of marriage in the name of mercy.”

The 66-year-old former archbishop of St Louis instead recommended that next year’s synod devote itself to promoting the church’s teaching on marriage.

Cardinal Burke also ruled out any easing of the restriction on Communion for those divorced and remarried without an annulment of their original marriage.

“I fail to be able to comprehend how — if marriage is indissoluble and someone is living in a state contradicting this indissolubility of marriage — the person can be admitted to holy Communion,” he said.

He urged the Catholic faithful to write to Pope Francis and Vatican and Irish church officials to make their views known.

Lashing out at the “so-called contraceptive mentality,” he warned it was “anti-life” and blamed it for “the devastation that is daily wrought in our world by the multi-million dollar industry of pornography” and the “incredibly aggressive homosexual agenda,” which he claimed could only result in “the profound unhappiness and even despair of those affected by it.”

Cardinal Burke said he was reduced to tears by attempts to introduce “so-called gender theory” into schools.

He warned that such theory was “iniquitous” and that exposing children to such “corrupt thinking” could not be permitted.

He said “society has gone even further in its affront to God and his law by claiming the name of marriage for liaisons between persons of the same sex.”

To applause, the cardinal said he refused to use the term traditional marriage for the marriage of a man and a woman.

“My response is — is there any other kind of marriage? I fear that by using that terminology that we give the impression that we think that there are other kinds of marriage; well, we don’t.”

Speaking ahead of the conference to RTE News, Cardinal Burke said he would refuse Communion to a Catholic politician who voted for same-sex marriage.

In his opening address to the conference, Bishop Brendan Leahy of Limerick said the family needs to be rediscovered as the essential agent of evangelization.However, he referred to the final message of October’s synod, to remind conference delegates that “people need to be accepted in the concrete circumstances of life.”

No let-up on exposing the adulterist/homosexualist heresy in the Catholic Church and the machinations of those at the Synod on the Family

The next year is going to be fierce. Lest anyone doubt the resolve of the manipulators to carry on they shall. Let they and their ilk not doubt the reality of the blogosphere and the resolve of faithful Catholics around the world to confront this evil, this heresy and expose it to the Light of Truth which comes from Jesus Christ for all to see.

It will not matter if the perpetrator of the adulterist and homosexualist heresy is a priest, a bishop an archbishop or a cardinal, the truth will not be obliterated.

The Eponymous Flower has an important article translated from the original German from Katholiches based on Father Dariusz Oko and his warnings against the homoheresy and homomafia running rampant in the Church today. He reminds us that it was Benedict XVI who established a clear ban on the ordination to the priesthood of anyone with deep-seated same-sex tendencies.

The second is from Toronto Catholic Witness quoting newly ordained Father Leo S. I. Mwenda, O.P., where he contradicts the octogenarian German Cardinal Walter Kasper that the resistance in Africa to the adulterist and the homosexualist heresy is not because of "taboo" but because they are opposed to "right reason and contrary to God's intention for human sexuality."

This Synod on the Family held in October in Rome has clearly defined the issues and the sides. You are either with the perennial Magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church or you are opposed to it.
