Thomas Christopher Cardinal Collins

May the LORD on this Epiphany pour out his abundant graces on our new Cardinal Archbishop.

“I am deeply honoured that the Holy Father has called me to be a member of the College of Cardinals. I am grateful for the trust he has placed in me, and recognize this honour as a sign of his esteem for the role of Canada and of the Archdiocese of Toronto in the universal Church. I ask the people of the Archdiocese, whom I am privileged to serve as bishop, and all people in the community, to pray for me and for all who serve Our Lord through ministry in the Church."

It is wonderful news. Archbishop Collins is both a gentleman and a gentle man. God bless him.

Our family is thrilled with this news!
We do hope that Vancouver and Ottawa may get the opportunity to have red hats as well sometime in the near future!

I'm sorry, but how can anyone be thrilled over these news?!! On a personal level yes, but on a spiritual level we should be trembling. This man is THE shepherd of this diocese and we only need to look at the state of Catholic education in Toronto to see that he has neglected his job of saving souls. Giving him a red hat is dangerous because it could very well confirm to him that being passive and not speaking out in a clear, unapologetic, authentic Catholic voice, is ok. Please take a look at the High School book on world religions that he Approved-- it borders on heresy, waters down the faith, places all religions on the same levels, gives examples of how "good Catholic" mix new age practices with Catholic "rituals", etc. All with his Imprimatur. Did he do something about the teacher's union funding the gay agenda, the gay alliances in schools, the Pro-life efforts?..and on and on. If this is the best Canada has to offer, we're in deep trouble. Our Caridal needs a lot of prayers.
