Completely lame, completely bizarre, for a church with a dodgy history with male children, and what on earth is the kid (no sex identifiable) doing with a witch's stang? I also just noticed, the child is not smiling. Most representations of children are smiling, this one has an odd melancholy aspect. Perhaps it has just been told it is neither boy nor girl.
Very sad.
You know, every time I see this image, I find it impossible to believe the image of a priest reaching for a "small child" is an intentional image they want to hit us over the head with. They enjoy rubbing our noses in things.
