STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA CONDEMNING RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN IRAQ

STATEMENT BY THE PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA CONDEMNING RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN IRAQ

Ottawa, Ontario
22 July 2014
Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement condemning the recent campaign of religious persecution in Iraq:

“Canada condemns the systematic campaign of persecution that is being perpetrated in the city of Mosul, Iraq, by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Its ultimatum – pay the jizya (tax on non-Muslims), convert, leave the city, or be killed – is the most recent measure aimed at forcing hundreds of thousands of Christians to convert to ISIS’ nefarious brand of Islam.

“Forced conversions, by threat of death, are an egregious violation of the fundamental human right to the freedom of religion.

“The very notion of religious freedom is what ISIS is working to eradicate and what the Iraqi people and the international community cannot surrender.

“Canada calls on the Iraqi Government to govern for all Iraqis, regardless of ethnic origin or religious belief, and to take immediate, effective measures against ISIS and the terrorists that it supports. ISIS’ ever-increasing campaign of violence endangers all individuals who do not share its beliefs, and threatens the very foundations of Iraq’s future as a secure, democratic and prosperous country.”

The West Runs for "Gay Rights" and Stammers at the Islamic Terror of Boko Haram

ABIJA, Nigeria -- Ignatius Kaigama, the Archbishop of Jos and President of the Nigerian Bishops' Conference responded to the European criticism of Nigeria and defended the support for the new federal law against "gay marriage." Last January, the Bishops thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for the new law for the protection of marriage and against “gay marriage". Since then, the Church of Nigeria has been in the crossfire of criticism. And for many a western Church leader, it is embarrassing to have to defend it.

Values of the Bible Can Never be Discrimination

Archbishop Kaigama stressed that the position of the Church in Nigeria corresponds exactly to the teaching of the Catholic Church.  He said, "We defend the moral values of the Bible, the tradition of the Nigerian people."  "The defense of the moral value of the Bible can never be discrimination," said the chairman of the Bishops' Conference of the most populous African country.

The archbishop also criticized the one-sidedness of the West, "though always with you when it comes to the so-called gay rights in Nigeria you run, but to the ongoing terror attacks by the Islamic militia Boko Haram you only stammer”. He went on to say that "Constantly new violence, burned and mutilated bodies, women and children who are killed in a terrible rhythm: this is the emergency afflicting our country, but nothing from Europe on this. But for “gay rights” the EU, the European Parliament and other international institutions will mobilize.”

"Even women Who Cannot Read, Use the Morning after Pill from the West"

"In all the villages of Nigeria, there are women who have no education and girls who do not attend school. They cannot read or write, but they have the morning after pill. When they are questioned, they know which pill they have when to take abort. How can that be? Who tells them that and gives them the morning after pill, pushing it into her hand? It is the western governmental and non-governmental organizations that impose their ideas on us. And these 'values' mean birth control. This is worth much money and effort from the West. And why do they do that? To ensure that our government gets international economic aid, they must accept this Western policy. But that is called coercion. A culture and a mentality are imposed that is not ours, for us Nigerians not despise life." They attempt this by way of an ideological indoctrination but specifically from the outside to manipulate the minds of the people in Nigeria.

"We won’t give in to the West   just because it has Money to Blackmail Us"

To the law against "gay marriage" said Archbishop Kaigama: "We say very clearly: We don't hate anybody. We respect homosexuals as people, and we support them when their rights are violated as human beings. The Church has there then and defends them. But we also say quite clearly that homosexual acts are contrary to nature. They flatly contradict what we defend. Powerful organizations who blackmail our government would like us to legalize gay marriage.  And when they say that there are occasional homosexual tendencies in Africa, we say quite clearly that they are aberrations. We respect the dignity of marriage between a man and a woman. We will not give in to the West, just because it has money with which it can put pressure on us,” said Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama of Jos.

Patriarch of Antioch Refuses to Leave Syria

Patriarch of Antioch Refuses to Leave Syria

Zakka I Iwas rejects speculation about internal church dispute over abducted bishops of Aleppo Vatican City (kath.net / KAP) The Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch, Mar Ignatius Zakka Iwas, does not want to leave his headquarters in Damascus. He made it clear to his office, reported the press service Vatican Fides on Monday. In a statement, the to Fides, it has denied rumors that Zakka I Iwas wanted to move the seat of the Patriarchate because of the Syrian civil war to Turkey. Such a move only magnify the risk that the Syrian Orthodox Church would be "wiped out".

Since the beginning of the fighting there were multiple bombs detonated in the Christian Quarter of Damascus and dozens of people were killed. Radical Islamic fighters among the ranks of the rebels are allegedly suspected to be behind the attacks.

"We don't want only the survival of the See of Antioch in Syria, but also that all people across the country to stay here," he says in the letter. This applies to "our Muslim brothers" just as we hope for the other Christian communities in Syria. The 80 year old Patriarch further informed the office he is in good health. Speculations were rejected with indignation, according to which there has been an intra-church dispute over the abduction of the two Archbishops of Aleppo. There is no sign that bishops Mar Gregorios Yohanna Ibrahim (Syrian Orthodox) and Boulos al-Yazigi (Greek Orthodox) missing since since the 22nd of April re still alive. Rape and atrocities on a young Christian in Qusair

2013-07-02

ASIA/SYRIA - Rape and atrocities on a young Christian in Qusair

Qusair (Agenzia Fides) - Mariam was a 15-year-old Christian from Qusair, a city of the governorate in Homs, 35 km south of the capital. The city, which had become a stronghold of the Syrian rebels, was reconquered by the troops of the regular army at the beginning of June. Mariam’s story - sent to Fides thanks to the report of two Catholic priests - is a sign of the brutality of the conflict and the extreme vulnerability of religious minorities. Mariam's family was in town when militants linked to the jihadist group "Jabhat al-Nusra" conquered and occupied it.
While her family was able to escape, Mariam was taken and forced into an Islamic marriage.
Fides sources point out that, through social networks, the fatwa was widespread in Syria produced by Yasir al-Ajlawni - A Salafi sheikh of Jordanian origin, resident in Damascus - who declared lawful, for opponents of the regime of Bashar al-Assad, rape committed against "any non-Sunni Syrian woman." According to the fatwa to capture and rape Alawi or Christian women is not contrary to the precepts of Islam.
The commander of the battalion "Jabhat al-Nusra" in Qusair took Mariam, married and raped her. Then he repudiated her. The next day the young woman was forced to marry another Islamic militant. He also raped her and then repudiated her. The same trend was repeated for 15 days, and Mariam was raped by 15 different men. This psychologically destabilized her and made her insane. Mariam, became mentally unstable and was eventually killed.
"These atrocities are not told by any International Commission" say to Fides two Greek-Catholic priests, Fr. Issam and Fr. Elias who have just returned to town. The two are collecting the cry's and complaints of many families. "Who will do something to protect civilians, the most vulnerable?" they ask. As reported to Fides, the two have just celebrated a Mass to consecrate again the Catholic church of St. Elias in Qusair.
The church was ransacked and desecrated by the guerrillas, and had become a logistic and residential base for rebel groups. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 02/07/2013)

Pray for the people of Egypt - CAUTION DISTURBING IMAGE

Oh, Family Most Holy; Jesus, Mary and Joseph, who fled to this ancient land where you were provided safety and refuge and from where God would call out His Son,
intercede for this ancient people that they may find peace and security within their land;
grant mercy and eternal rest we beseech you O Lord, to those Christian martyrs and bring your justice to those who would commit such acts; we ask this in the name of the same Jesus. Amen.

The picture is extremely disturbing, it must be shown, the world must awake to this evil. May God grant our Christian brother, Magdy Lamaey, eternal rest; may his martyrdom be the seed of conversion of those who would commit such evil.

Syrian Jihadists behead Catholic Priest

My ancestors are Maronite from Mount Lebanon; this is so very sad. The Maronite Rite grew from the Syriac at Antioch. The Rite is older than that of Rome. Syria and Egypt were Christian lands before Rome, the world is ignoring this slaughter. America, Britain, the European Union are supporting these Islamic Jihadist murderous terrorists; arming them, supporting them and giving them licenses. They are responsible. The Jews are not the problem. May Our Lord shield our Catholic brothers and sisters in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, Gaza and throughout the Middle East.

May the soul of Father Francois Murad and all Syrian Martyrs rest in the eternal peace of the Lord, our God.

VATICAN CITY (Catholic Online) - The Vatican is confirming the death by beheading of Franciscan Father, Francois Murad, who was martyred by Syrian jihadists on June 23.

Below is the news release from the Vatican, via news.va.

On Sunday, June 23 the Syrian priest François Murad was killed in Gassanieh, in northern Syria, in the convent of the Custody of the Holy Land where he had taken refuge. This is confirmed by a statement of the Custos of the Holy Land sent to Fides Agency. The circumstances of the death are not fully understood. According to local sources, the monastery where Fr. Murad was staying was attacked by militants linked to the jihadi group Jabhat al-Nusra.

Father François, 49, had taken the first steps in the religious life with the Franciscan Friars of the Custody of the Holy Land, and with them he continued to share close bonds of spiritual friendship. After being ordained a priest he had started the construction of a coenobitic monastery dedicated to St. Simon Stylites in the village of Gassanieh. After the start of the Civil War, the monastery of St. Simon had been bombed and Fr. Murad had moved to the convent of the Custody for safety reasons and to give support to the remaining few, along with another religious and nuns of the Rosary.

"Let us pray," writes the Custos of the Holy Land Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM " so that this absurd and shameful war ends soon and that the people of Syria can go back to living a normal life." Archbishop Jacques Behnan Hindo, titular of the Syrian Catholic archeparchy in Hassaké-Nisibis reports to Fides: "The whole story of Christians in the Middle East is marked and made fruitful by the blood of the martyrs of many persecutions. Lately, father Murad sent me some messages that clearly showed how conscious he was of living in a dangerous situation, and offered his life for peace in Syria and around the world. "

**

This should make it clear to Christians around the world what jihadists are about. Make no mistake. Catholics and Christians around the globe are under dire threat, particularly from the spread of militant Islam. Until the threat is recognized and taken seriously, martyrdoms like this will continue.

We have a link to video provided via LiveLeak. We must warn you, the video is extremely graphic. We believe the first victim is Father Francois, and the second victim that is depicted is another person said to be a collaborator with the Assad regime.

The video CLEARLY depicts the beheadings of these victims. DO NOT follow the link unless you are over the age of 18, and are prepared to view content of this nature.

Catholic Online believes it is very important the world knows that Christians are being murdered for their faith, and that martyrdom isn't an ancient phenomenon.

Prayer and dignity in the face of evil

While one Archbishop (Piero Marini) speaks about same-sex civil unions as a good thing another speaks the truth and is mocked as was Our Lord. God bless Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard of Mechelen-Brussels.

Photos from De Standaard:

Bishop Léonard was targeted specifically because of his views. In an April 2007 interview for the weekly Télé Moustique, he was asked about his position on homosexuality and described homosexual behaviour as “abnormal”: "The same as Freud: it is an imperfectly developed stage of human sexuality which contradicts its inner logic. Homosexuals have encountered a blockage in their normal psychological development, rendering them abnormal. I know that in a few years, I will risk prison by saying this, but that could offer me a vacation." Scantily clad activists of feminist group Femen invaded a conference at a university in Brussels. During the act, demonstrators threw water on the Archbishop of Mechelen-Brussels, Andre-Joseph Leonard. The priest did not react and avoided looking at the activists. The protest was against homophobia, according to international agencies. At the end of the demonstration, the archbishop kissed a picture of the Virgin Mary to leave the room. Born in Ukraine and with subsidiaries in several countries (including Brazil and nations with a Muslim majority), the Femen often campaigning for the rights of women and minorities. One of their banners is the defense of gay marriage.

At the end of it, the Archbishop kissed a statue of Our Blessed Mother!

"In the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph!"

An Open Letter to the Prime Minister of Canada

First Asia Bibi in Pakistan and now Said Musa in Afghanistan:
'pm@pm.gc.ca'; 'Cannon.L@parl.gc.ca'

Dear Prime Minister Harper and Minister of Foreign Affairs Cannon,

I am sure by now you are aware of the story in the National Post originating from the National Catholic Register of Mr. Said Musa, a Christian, persecuted and sentenced to death in Afghanistan. As Canadians, I am sure that you share my outrage over this injustice, particularly given the loss of life of Canadian troops and those of other NATO countries fighting for the Afghan people.

How can this be allowed to continue?
I urge you in every possible way to express to President Karzai of the need to personally intervene and have this man pardoned. Further, this continual persecution of Christians due to a flawed constitution must be prevented from happening again.

Your urgent action is required.

Yours truly,
