We are in meltdown, and to hear a voice of sanity is refreshing.

One of the main strong points in true Catholic music is the emphasis on the poly-rhythmic. Rhythm, by its nature, has an earthy and sensuous aspect. Sensuous, as in sense, is not of itself sinful - yet, within the context of Catholic, liturgical music the non-rhythmical is critical. Hence, the emphasis on the chant. Catholic music raises us to heaven, it speaks of heavenly things. To attempt to fuse the earthly, the sensuous with the heavenly is chasing after a chimera. What masquerades as "Christian" music, is in the main, a form of secular music, adapted to biblical themes by well-meaning protestants. Our protestant friends mean well, and we encourage them in the time being to explore the truth of Catholicism. However, it is a grave error for Catholics to indulge in this protestant musical undertaking. No good will come of it. Baronahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06265555388172261643noreply@blogger.com
