Toronto Catholic Register trying to make Thomas J. Rosica relevant

Serial plagiarist and litigious priest Thomas J. Rosica of the Congregation of St. Basil continues to try to be relevant, this time with the aid of Toronto's Catholic Register.

https://www.catholicregister.org/item/36155-changing-journey-along-synodal-path

Rosica, who attempted to sue this blogger for publicly challenging his heterodoxy and scandalous comments, was first outed as plagiarist on this blog, and years later notably disgraced repeatedly in Catholic and secular media for his serial plagiarism dating back decades.

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/the-list-of-fr-rosicas-plagiarism-is-a-long-one-here-are-57-examples/

Rosica, an American from Rochester, is now a chaplain to retired Basilians at Presentation House in Toronto, a retirement home for various declining religious. As noted previously in comparing him to Michael Voris, hubris and narcissism are two things these disgraced men share.

As a reminder and as a revelation to more recent readers, here are some non-plagiarised quotes of Thomas J. Rosica from, "The Rosica Letters."

“How sorry I feel for you.  I know people who know you at the XXXX XXXX (my place of employment) and elsewhere.  They have also expressed the same thing.”

When challenged he responded.

“Say no more!  I don't speak to your co-workers.  They speak freely about you. Broadcast yourself.”

Note, he was talking about my employer, he was trying to undermine me and my career!

More can be read here.

Other emails, a dozen, have included such quotes from Tom Rosica directed to me:

"Something went wrong somewhere and I feel your sadness."

“May the Lord help you as you wallow in a vortex of sadness and negativity. “

“In addition to a good confessor, you should seriously consider a counselor of sorts to assist you..”

"I might make the suggestion the title of your blog be changed to "Vox Umbris" rather than Cantoris!"

"May the Lord grant you the peace you are seeking this Lent. No guarantees you will find it this side of the Resurrection but keep seeking."

"All it takes is a keyboard and screen to become an expert. Fr. Z is one of many. Why do you feel it necessary to follow the crowd? What is really eating away at you regarding the liturgy? It says much about you."

"Your keyboard and your monitor do not make you a bishop or liturgist."

"God bless you and grant you peace you are not finding in our Church! Amen."

"In "broadcasting" yourself, you actually set yourself further and further away from the Church. You are above any form of recommendation and suggestion and are part of a clericalism far worse than any cleric."

"How sorry I feel for you."

"The Father Corapis, Eutenauer and the Vorises (all gone now from the public square for the same reason as his own failure, except for his attempt to become relevant again, doomed to failure. Vox, 23.11.24.) of this life will not lead you into true life and authentic healing. I know you know that but will simply not admit it."

"I am sure you would have difficulty with her (Mary's) response to the angel, and her Son’s response to the sinners with whom he kept company."

"As the stories emerge from those who know you and from the pastors and parish communities whom you tried to assist with your "chant" and succeeding in causing such division, know that we keep you in our prayers. It is indeed a very sad story that hides itself behind Latin, chant, and a blog that is nothing more than a story of anger and sadness."

And then there was this. Rather than enjoy his time with Pope Benedict XVI in Madrid, he went there and found me living rent free in his brain.

Subject: Voris' TV exposed for what it is

Dear David,

For all your chant and rant, you obviously have very poor judgment in those you prop up as your gods... and those with whom you enjoy being photographed!

Read this story below which has broken in the news today as Mr. Voris is exposed for what he is... and isn't.

I beg he Holy Spirit to open your eyes, heart and mind to the Truth, not the myth you are pushing as the real Church, the "real" Catholic TV, the real nonsense.

God bless you... from Madrid .

Thomas Rosica - from Southdown to a Seniors Home for Priests - More on the Serial Plagiariser

Gee old Tommy Boy, it never stops, eh?

The plagiarism scandal of this petulant and arrogant fraud never ends. Now, it implicates Marc Cardinal Ouelett who hired the clown as a "ghost-writer." What a joke is Ouelett, a lazy, washed up Francis-toady, a Bergoglian too cowardly to confront the evil monster and too lazy to write his own homilies.

Let it be noted that this writer here on Vox Cantoris was the first to out Rosica as a plagiarist for consistently using this quote by Richard R. Gaillardetz as published in the National Catholic Reporter and which Rosica made his own.

"Will this Pope re-write controversial Church doctrines? No. But that isn't how doctrine changes. Doctrine changes when pastoral contexts shift and new insights emerge such that particularly doctrinal formulations no longer mediate the saving message of God's transforming love. Doctrine changes when the Church has leaders and teachers who are not afraid to take note of new contexts and emerging insights. It changes when the Church has pastors who do what Francis has been insisting: leave the securities of your chanceries, of your rectories, of your safe places, of your episcopal residences go set aside the small minded rules that often keep you locked up and shielded from the world."

Tell us Tommy, how was time in Southdown? Did you discuss your disgusting persecution of this writer and his family and your attempt to sue me into poverty for telling the truth? Did they recommend you apologise you filthy rat? Priest, my foot! You're a stinking fraud and a heretic as proven from your own words in this article in the Windsor Star when you were still a Deacon. You sniveling little man, you should never have been ordained. I am convinced you were never a priest. You were a heretic.

How could a heretic as proven by your own words as a Deacon, ever be validly ordained?

How far you have fallen, old man. Chaplain to retired Boyzillians in a retirement home for priests.

It all looks so good on you.

Rosica at Splashdown

An "inveterate alpha hotel" I've been called by a brave anonymous commentator for allegedly kicking this man whilst he is down. On the contrary, as written below, I hope he finds his priesthood and spends his life as a monk or hermit to save his soul. That is not a kick, it is a good hope.

Where is the apology from this Rosica for more than a dozen harassing emails?

Where is the apology from this Rosica for a slap-suit that took money out of my home to defend against?

Where is the apology from this Rosica for the gossip he undertook with certain other clerics to limit and undermine my work as a Cantor?

Where is the apology from Rosica for the malignant gossip to people at my employer?

Where is the apology from Rosica for the no less than two attempts to have me fired by using direct and indirect pressure on my employer. Confirmed by the way, by senior officers that he was trying to undermine my employment and thus, my security and pension?

Not from him.

But from the Rosica Family.

But from the other brother who apologised without reservation on "behalf of the Rosica family" and said, "you must do everything you can to keep my brother from ever becoming a bishop."

Turns out, Tom did himself in on that one.

Some day, I may forgive Tom, I hope to.

Today, is not that day.

Fr. Rosica's Bias: Are We Getting The Whole Synod Story ...
The party's over, Tom
Thomas J. Rosica is at Southdown. I've known this for two weeks. I did not publicly report on it as I did not feel it my place and to respect my sources.

However, someone has revealed it to Michael Voris, as reported here.

It is this writer who doggedly pursued this arrogant clericalist and it was this writer who was the first to out him for his plagiarsim. The price was a slap-suit that elevated this blog from 600,000 page views after a decade to what you see at the left today, all since March of 2015.

The price Rosica paid was great.

Suing this writer was the beginning of the end for this errant cleric. It focused others from Bloggers to LifeSiteNews to Breitbart, Catholic World Report, Renew America and the National Catholic Register on this nasty and despicable actions. It caused everyone to take a closer look.

He is a broken man. He was on the rise, no doubt lusting an episcopal appointment from Bergoglio. He is Bergoglio's type, to be sure.

It's over for him, brought down from heights by his own blind pride and arrogance. He is a sycophant and a sociopath, just like his Bergoglio.

Whatever has sent him to Southdown may it be a start of his healing. May he find his priesthood again, but may he live as a hermit and may no Catholic ever been on the receiving end again of this man's actions, nor ministry.

He is a bad man and a bad priest and as he wrote me many times, "a sad, sad man."

Rosica reportedly "lied" to the producers of "Bella." Was it an attempt to sink the movie?

Bella was a delightful film.

John Zmirak writes at The Stream about an incident relating to Rosica, Salt + Light and the producers of Bella and the Toronto International Film Festival.

"We were driving to his studios when I got a phone call out of the blue. On the line was a 20-something employee at Salt and Light. She was crying. She told us that Father Rosica’s motives weren’t pure. That he didn’t like us or our film, and he intended to air our interview that very week. That would have been during the Festival, which then we’d be sure to lose.
I got off the phone, kind of skeptical. Would a priest really do something like that? Would a journalist break an embargo he’d promised to respect? I talked the question over with the other producers. At last we agreed. To be on the safe side, we would cancel the interview.
We turned the car around and I called Father Rosica. I told him that our schedule wouldn’t permit an interview after all.
He got violently angry, and shouted that he’d been counting on the interview to fill air time that same week. We’d left a hole in his broadcast schedule.
I was taken aback. I said, “Father, you promised us this interview wouldn’t air until after the Festival. That’s why we agreed to do it.”
Rosica got silent. He said something condescending and hung up the phone.
I guess we were foolish to trust someone, just because he wore a Roman collar.
Rosica did want to politicize the film, in a way we’d warned him would sink it. And he was willing to lie in order to do that. His motives? I won’t speculate on those."

Just one more example of the character of this deceitful man. A man who put my wife and I under great distress. A man who on no less than two occasions tried to undermine my employment.

A most repugnant man.

Rosica blames his "interns" for his plagiarism - well, here is something written by him!

Congratulations to Dorothy Cummings McLean and all at LifeSiteNews who were able to humble this man enough. Yet, not enough. He blames his interns for his theft, his plagiarism. He apologises to the University of St. Michael and then states that the apology is that the matter become known.

Well, we'll see what the universities and his "teaching" Congregation do now.

While I hate to be a braggart, I was the first to report on Rosica's plagiarism. It was from an article in the National Catholic Reporter by the modernist "theologian" Richard R. Gaillardetz

"Will this Pope re-write controversial Church doctrines? No. But that isn't how doctrine changes. Doctrine changes when pastoral contexts shift and new insights emerge such that particularly doctrinal formulations no longer mediate the saving message of God's transforming love. Rosica frequently used it without accreditation.

How strange that this man should write me this from Madrid during that World Youth Daycare. Imagine, over there with Pope Benedict XVI and he thinks of me.

I must be pretty special.

My Tom, how far you've fallen.

What a "sad, sad man" who is "neither a bishop, nor a liturgist."

Those were, your words to me.

Suing innocent Catholics.

Stealing writing.

Brought down by his own hand.

Tom Rosica: "Remove the beam in your own eye, How can you live with yourself. How can you celebrate Mass?"

It seems that Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has some legal problems. Crux is reporting that a court in Milan has ordered him to make a financial settlement to his brother. When Viganò issued his Testimony, something learned about him was that he came from an old and wealthy aristocratic Italian family. This has enabled him to not rely on the Church for his retirement and given him the ability to protect himself from those who would seek to do him harm at this time.

Whether he acted inappropriately or not is not of any importance in the debate over McCarrick or those who supported his advancement and the advancement of others in the Church like him. He has rightly called out the homosexualist mafia in the Church and its destructiveness.

Yet, there are those who continue to try to discredit him because of what he has written but fail to address what he has written. This, in itself, is a testimony that what he has said is true.

Tom Rosica mocks the Viganò family writing, "What a beautiful Christian family."

One should be very careful about casting stones when one lives in a glass house because every family has its tragedies.

After dozens of mocking emails to me and an attempt to sue me and my family into poverty through a vexatious and frivolous lawsuit, I can ask the same question.

"Tom, how can you celebrate Mass?"

Jesuits want to talk about "bullying." Well, shall we?

Following up on the Reverend Father Dwight Longenecker's recent Crux screed, we now have the orthodox Jesuitical publication editors at America Magazine entering into the fray.

Let's give credit where it is due. Our Jesuitical Fathers have generously restrained themselves from the disgraceful direct hyperbole and insult more commonly associated with commentary on Bloggers from either from the Reverends Longenecker or Rosica. Kudos to our Jesuit friends at America, for their "charity," attempted, that is, until you get to the heart of the matter.

Near the end of the first paragraph, they use the word "bullying." An interesting word and one that has become popular in some circles.

Shall we talk about bullying?

Who paid his legal bill? I had to pay mine!

That was money that could have gone as extra mortgage payments or retirement savings or renovations or a trip with my wife. You bet I'm still peeved about that!

We can go on; I can go on. I have specific examples of other bullying and attempted intimidation even to the point of threatening my livelihood from an "unidentified cleric."

Another, was an attempt to intimidate priests to have me "fired" from Cantor positions by mounting a whisper campaign that I am "making the Pope look bad." One actually suggesting I shut the blog down as a sign of "good-will."

In January and February 2015, there were at least three occurrences by an anonymous person or persons to directly interfere with my livelihood and my work -- my career and my vocation in sacred music, and actual attempts to interfere in my employment on more than one occasion!

Yes, you read that correctly.

There have been attempts by some to silence me for years. They are not very smart, they have not figured out that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. They will not silence this blogger.

Bullying? Intimidation? Threatening? Coercion?

I have known it directly, including the physical battery, assault and mental abuse as a 13 year old boy from certain sons of St. Basil's and their "Congregation." I survived that, there is nothing they can throw at me now.

Bullying, you say?

You filthy Jesuit swine! You "whitewashed sepulchres" with your intellectual pride. You "brood of vipers" who have betrayed your holy founder and His Lord and ours!

You write of bullying?

Oh, there is plenty and it is all from within the Catholic Church and from men who have no business in the priesthood. Effeminates, leaches, malefactors, prideful, arrogant, and faithless, feckless men who have disgraced the Bride of Christ, men who hide behind their clerical garb as some great oracles of holy wisdom.

Bullies all right, but it's not the bloggers.

What these men are revealing is that blogs punch above their weight and these men are running scared. They are afraid because they know that we are on to them and that they can no longer do their work without it being called out into the light. They know that when this Pope is dead; they will be dead with him. They have no progeny. They have no growth. Their time is short and we all know it and so do they.

We're on to them and we're not letting them go.

In a recent talk in Rome given at the Voice of the Family conference, Raymond Cardinal Burke had this to say about the current situation in the Church:

“I think of so many faithful who express to me their profound concerns for the Church in the present time, when there seems to be so much confusion about fundamental dogmatic and moral truths. In responding to their concerns, I urge them to deepen their understanding of the constant teaching and discipline of the Church and to make their voices heard, so that the shepherds of the flock may understand the urgent need to announce again with clarity and courage the truths of the faith and to apply again with charity and firmness the discipline needed to safeguard the same truths.”

"Make their voices heard," said the Cardinal!

In a blog post on May 30, Father Hunwicke stated with clarity that:

"Vatican I made clear that ex cathedra pronouncements of the Roman Pontiff are infallible and irreformable ex sese, non autem ex consensu Ecclesiae. This implies that pronouncements not ex cathedra are or may be reformable by the reception or non-reception of the Church."

Read that again, "reformable by the reception or non-reception of the Church!"

Mark my words friends and enemies alike. This mockery, Amoris Laetitia and much more that may come from this papacy will all be undone. It will be undone and declared anathema by a future holy pope. He will correct the ambiguities in the documents of Vatican II, he will condemn the errors and heresies devised by those who manipulated it, he will restore the sacred liturgy and he will teach with clarity and truth. He will preach that mercy and justice are linked; that truth is not relative and that Christ never changes. That pope, I believe, is living today. I only pray that I may be granted the grace to see that papacy, and rejoice in it.

Catholics must stop ascribing to Francis, or any Pope for that matter, that which he does not have. Stop giving credence to Protestant bigotry about papal infallibility, that we worship the man and everything he says. Stop committing papolatry as if the passing of gas scented with frankincense somehow signifies new revelation.

Which magazine said just the other day in a Tweet, "The Church of Pope Francis"?

If you think this writer will ever bow to worship at the Church of Pope Francis, or the Church of Benedict or any other Pope for that matter, you can go straight to where that idolatry will get you. It is not the "Church of Pope Francis!" It is the Church of Jesus Christ, Catholic!
This Pope is His Vicar, His servant and ours. He is not a god. He is not infallible when he farts frankincense. He is not infallible with what he says in his daily homilies unless he states infallible teachings already revealed.

These priests who use such phrases as "radical traditionalist" whatever the heck that means are manipulating and insulting. As a convert, this next statement wouldn't apply to Longenecker, but it would certainly to Rosica; "What faith did his parents or grandparents practice?" Were they "radical traditionalists?"  or were they just, "Catholics!" If Fathers Rosica and Longenecker defend their remarks with some kind of historicism, then that is an admission that there is a pre and post Vatican II Church - that the old one is dead and this new one is better, more merciful, more just and that all that came before was wrong.

Bovine excrement!

There are only "Catholics."

The words of Robert DePlante come to mind:

What Catholics once were, we are. If we are wrong, then Catholics through the ages have been wrong. We are what you once were. We believe what you once believed. We worship as you once worshipped. If we are wrong now, you were wrong then. If you were right then, we are right now.

There are no Taliban Catholics, radical traditionalist, rad-trads, mad-trads and other such scandalous epithets used by Rosica, Longenecker, Shea, Armstrong and others. They sit there chastising bloggers and accuse us of doing exactly what they do. You are either a Catholic or you're a heretic. There is no grey.

Our parents and our grandparents did not have the knowledge and tools we have in order to stand up and protect the Faith and the Church. If they did, we would most certainly not be in the position we are in today. They did not read encyclicals or exhortations and they never thought to read the Council documents.

They trusted the priests and bishops, and what did it get them?

Their sons sodomised.

Their daughters molested.

The Holy Mass, debased and disgraced and often rendered illicit if not outright, invalid.

Our Lord insulted.

Altars smashed.

Communion rails broken up.

Artwork and their patrimony whitewashed.

Scandals.

The faith in ruins.

For fifty years, Catholics have been poked like a bear in a cage. What do you expect? That they are going to sit and take it? Poke someone long enough and you can be sure, the bear is going to bite back.

You can say turn the other cheek, but that is personal. We are fighting for Christ and His Church, our patrimony, our families and our culture and there will be no turning of any cheeks.

And don't think we're ever going away.

Basilian Father Thomas Rosica, CEO of Salt and Light Television Network in Canada and an English-language assistant to the Holy See Press Office, speaks May 11 during the 25th annual observance of World Communications Day in Brooklyn, N.Y. Father Rosica was presented the DeSales Media Group's St. Francis de Sales Communicator of the Year Award. (CNS photo/Robert M. Longo)
In recent years some Catholic watchdog groups have led campaigns against church institutions and individuals who work within them that have had the effect of ruining careers, disrupting lives and generating unjustified tension within the Catholic community. Catholic service entities have been the frequent but not the only targets of these critics. These efforts have been typified by extreme rhetoric and relentless bullying on social media—ignoring beams, compulsively seeking splinters—and church bureaucracies have in some cases acceded to their pressure tactics.
Thomas Rosica, C.S.B., founding chief executive officer of Canada’s Salt and Light Media Foundation, delivered the keynote address during the Brooklyn Diocese’s observance of World Communications Day on May 11. He pulled no punches in condemning this unfortunate phenomenon and the broader problem of a Catholic web of anger and accusation. “The character assassination on the Internet by those claiming to be Catholic and Christian has turned it into a graveyard of corpses strewn all around,” he said. Father Rosica deplored “the obsessed, scrupulous, self-appointed, nostalgia-hankering virtual guardians of faith” who “resort to the Internet and become trolling pontiffs and holy executioners.”
His words will no doubt only provoke those he is criticizing. He should not have to stand alone in doing so. In this Year of Mercy, Catholic communicators have a special responsibility to model the merciful relationships they seek to encourage in others. Debate, even fierce debate, in the church should not be unwelcome; but charity and esteem for the person—not rhetorical stratagems bent on personal destruction—should typify our dialogue.

Tom Rosica, James Martin and the real "theologians" against you and me

“There being an imminent danger for the Faith, prelates must be questioned, even publicly, by their subjects. Thus, St. Paul, who was a subject of St. Peter, questioned him publicly on account of an imminent danger of scandal in a matter of Faith. And, as the Glossa of St. Augustine puts it (Ad Galatas 2.14), ‘St. Peter himself gave the example to those who govern so that if sometimes they stray from the right way, they will not reject a correction as unworthy even if it comes from their subjects.” (SummaTheologiae, IIa IIae, Q. 33, A. 4)

If you've not heard about what happened to Ross Douthat of the New York Times, at the hands of Catholic so-called "theologians," it is time you did. On October 17, Douthat penned a column in the New York Times, The Plot to Change the Catholic Church wasting no time getting to the point in the very first paragraph of his op-ed column.
The Vatican always seems to have the secrets and intrigues of a Renaissance court — which, in a way, is what it still remains. The ostentatious humility of Pope Francis, his scoldings of high-ranking prelates, have changed this not at all; if anything, the pontiff’s ambitions have encouraged plotters and counterplotters to work with greater vigor.
And right now the chief plotter is the pope himself.

I read it the day it was published and was astonished that the secular media was coming to the same conclusions as many of us.

The push back against Douthat did not take long. James Martin. S.J. was first of the mark and has since used the word "hater" against those who question his Jesuitical arrogance. Then, a group of so-called "theologians" issued a public Letter to the Editor of the Times, chastising Douthat. Were they trying to get him fired?  Douthat is not the first to attacked by churchmen for stating his opinion, he will not be the last.

Douthat has responded again. Fundamentally, according to the "theologians," his crime is not being one, therefore, he is not part of the club and has no business commenting. These modern day no-nothings and their clericalist aides and abettors hate an educated laity.

Dorothy Cummings McLean picks up this matter in Catholic World Report
As the Affair Douthat unfolds, I keep attaching faces to the names I hadn't heard or seen for many years. One of them belongs to an active homosexual who brought his boyfriend along on the departmental retreat and shared a room with him. Another belongs to an active unmarried heterosexual who brought his girlfriend along on the departmental retreat and shared a room with her. They were both very pleasant and cheerful men. I liked them very much—which does not erase the facts that they did not believe the teaching of the Catholic Church concerning sexual morality and that today they are professional Catholic theologians.

Some Catholics these are, poisoning the minds of our youth not enough in touch with the Truth as Mrs. Cummings McLean was whilst a student there.

In the combox at CWR, a writer quotes the late Richard John Neuhaus writing in First Things in 2003.
It was at a conference in the mid eighties that I listened to Hans Küng hold forth in triumphalist tones on the victory of the progressives. “We” control, he announced, the seminaries, the academic departments of theology, the catechetical and liturgical institutions, the publishing houses, the magazines that matter, and the chanceries. Most of the bishops, he said, are now on “our” side, and those who aren’t have been neutralized. Anyone who wants a future in the hierarchy or the Catholic academy has no choice but to cooperate, he observed. It was a clean sweep; all that was left were a few details; the disgruntled band of risibly reactionary dissidents from the new order didn’t understand what had happened and couldn’t do much about it."
Douthat is right. These heretics, and that is what they are, hid underground as best they could under the last two papacies, They worked quietly, these malefactors did, to undermine and destroy the faith. Under Jorge Bergoglio, they have the confidence to come right out in the open, either because the Bishop of Rome is weak and ignorant to what is going on around him or because he endorses it and promotes. it

So what does this have about Thomas Rosica, CSB?

I have a collection of emailed letters from Rosica. Letters which insult and deride this writer and more. Cummings wrote about some of them previously at Catholic World Report following the farce of a vexatious lawsuit against this writer by Rosica. A poverty vowed Basilian the suit was undertaken, allegedly "pro bono," by Fogler Rubinoff, one of Toronto's largest and most expensive legal operations.

Below is one of the letters. I am making it public because it shows that this attempt to silence and berate lay men and women who have every right and duty to raise their concerns to the Church and Catholics in general is not new. These bishops, priests and theologians are the best examples of clericalism, something they apparently thought was wrong in the Church before the Council which they adore as if it is their god.

Tom Rosica, James Martin and the others cannot silence the Catholic faithful and the truth. They have played their hands and they have been exposed. They are not the President and Vice-President of the Internet

They cannot cope with the fact that we may not be "bishops or liturgists" but we do know what words mean and there are many we could use and Dorothy Cummings McLean knows it too.

"The brain-blowing combination of asserting that what is not Catholic teaching is somehow Catholic teaching and then shrieking like a frightened schoolgirl when the word "heresy" is uttered is what the American Catholic/Jesuit theological academy is all about."
