Irish Bishop of Limerck Brendan Leahy - a corrupted, episcopal promoter of sodomy

There once was a bishop from Limerick,
Whose faith was not apostolic.
He welcomed all gays
in so many ways
From Catholicism, he's really schismatic.

Gay couples must be made welcome at World Meeting of Families, insists bishop

Gay couples must be made welcome at next year's World Meeting of Families in Ireland, the Catholic Bishop of Limerick has said.

Bishop Brendan Leahy is the first Catholic bishop to publicly reach out to families of all hues, including those of same-sex couples.

The Catholic Church condemns homosexual acts as gravely immoral, but it also says LGBT people must be accepted with respect, compassion and sensitivity and that any discrimination must be condemned.

However, it teaches marriage can only be between a man and a woman and believes same-sex unions are an unfavourable environment for the bringing-up of children.
The Church argues the legalisation of such unions is harmful to society. In 2015, the Irish hierarchy opposed the referendum on the legalisation same-sex marriage.

However, speaking after his diocese launched its preparation programme for WMF2018, an international event which promotes traditional Catholic teaching on marriage, Dr. Leahy said the event in August 2018 in Dublin would be a missed opportunity if the Church did not embrace family in all its variety.

"We are living in changing times and family too is changing," he said.

"We've had the referendum in favour of same-sex marriage and a lot of people voted in that referendum and all are equally welcome to join in this celebration of family.

"Everyone must be made feel welcome next year. We all want to build a good family network of support in Ireland at all levels."

Describing the World Meeting of Families as the most important gathering in Ireland for decades, he said: "It's an international event but it will have special meaning for us as Irish people because family means so much here."

Stating that the family is at Irish people's very core, he added: "It anchors us in life, defines us. It's comfort when we are in difficulty and the first place to go to celebrate.
"The World Meeting of Family is a major celebration of this."

Bishop Leahy said he was delighted by "the coming together of the full diversity of family".

"My hope for next year's event is that it will be for all families; for the traditional family, single parents, people in second relationships, people divorced and remarried, people of great faith and no faith, people of other faiths, people who agree with the Church and those who disagree."

The World Meeting of Families is held every three years by the Catholic Church at different international locations and Dublin was specifically chosen by Pope Francis for the event from August 21-26 2018.

Thousands of families from all over the world are expected to descend on Ireland for the gathering, which has been themed 'The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World' and will focus on the Pope's document on family and marriage, 'Amoris Laetitia'.

WMF2018 will incorporate a three-day congress of keynote speakers and workshops on the challenges and contribution of families.

It will culminate in a Festival of Families on Saturday, August 25.

This is why the Church in Ireland is in such disastrous shape...

Wonder what he has to say about the push to remove the protection of the unborn from the Constitution ,and what impact that will have on the "family"

Dear oh dear oh dear! Ireland destroys the sacred concept of marriage; spits in the face of the Holy Family; opens the floodgates of LGBTIQ narratives and supports them, accepts the bribes and incentives of the Mammon god and now this ... A Bishop - no less- saying these terrible things! This is the middle of the Great Polarisation period IMO! So that when the Day of Judgement comes, there can be NO DOUBT in the minds of men, that Almighty God's Judgements vis a vis His Creation over the ages, are True, Just and Right! ("They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead." - 1 Peter 4:5)! And there will be no-one standing who can gainsay the Judgements of the Almighty!

Yes things are bad here in Ireland. We have an actively gay half-indian leader (complete with boyfriend), a lesbian pro-abortion government minister for children, who hails from Seattle, a totally pro-homosexual media, including newspapers and television stations. There is literally no opposition to the gay agenda being provided by anyone, especially not the church hierarchy, who are possibly mostly gay themselves. We have an endless parade of lefty progressive feminists / white knights on tv and radio. Anyone daring to challenge the consensus is immediately sacked / ostracized. The only glimmer of hope comes from some of the young pro-life people such as the Union of Students President Katie Ascough, who is under relentless attack from the left for removing pro-abortion ads from a college newspaper. She'll be a saint some day.

It appears to me, an Irish-American, that those constituencies in the world, in nations – even within the Church itself which were in times not so long past deeply Roman Catholic in faith and practice – have been mostly successfully targeted for a good dose of self-loathing.
These having established within themselves for centuries a capacity for self-examination once convinced that any theological concept is erroneous are fast to accommodate the new and improved” (and self-accommodating) perspective. The exposure to a corrupt academy and the anxiety to be perceived as “up to snuff” fuel the undermining of lived out faith. Its peer pressure. Converts to the zeitgeist are as most converts are – zealous.
What is manifest in once lowly Ireland has been achieved fifty-seven years ago among Irish-Americans in the US. They were avid to be subsumed into American protestant culture ala John Kennedy.
Then of course, in the Church by its own self, we witness the eradication of the Society of Jesus as an authentic Christian organ, let alone Catholic.
And of course the episcopate, even to the Chair of Saint Peter.
Lemmings. Poor insecure boys wanting to be “big” men.
Infants.

There is a proper name for such a blasphemous thing to be said, the man is an apostate from the faith. He is not Roman Catholic.

The people of Ireland must rise up and fight the evil culture, government, church. If they do not, it's on them.
My grandfather was born in Cork, we were always proud of our Irish connection. I'm ashamed.
I hope tourist dollars dry up as more and more people realize the Ireland we remember is gone, leaving just a shell of herself. It exists only in dreams. God will not be mocked and there is a price to pay for rejecting the faith.

@ Paul Morphy

The apostate Leahy's job to kill what remains of Jesus Church. He seeks to try to alienate those who remain Catholic.

Bulletins are agog with WMFs with "families", not THE FAMILY, in your face. Do these people think we're stupid and can't read between the lines when blathered out with such banalities: 'Come to such and such a parish gathering (visiting Jesuit priest or perhaps Dominican, a la Fr Radcliff presiding) and tell us about your your experience of the family - everyone belongs to a family.' No mention of the Holy Family - Mother, Father and Child, Jesus, Mary and Joseph - no fear. The post modern family is what you want it to be - two daddies, two mammies, how very progressive and joyful! We must adapt to change. Really, bishop? What's next on the changing fortunes of the family - polyamory, polygamy? Well, you can't discriminate, RTE and the BBC will be down on you like a ton of manure. Trouble is, + Leahy voices what is in the minds of many a bishop and priest in Ireland. ++Martin and +Leahy could form a troupe of monkeys performing to PF's organ grinding, theological cacophony.
