Francis says!

“The world is tired of lying spellbinders and, allow me to say, ‘trendy’ priests or bishops. The people sniff them out – they have God’s sense of smell – and they walk away when they recognise narcissists, manipulators, defenders of their own causes, auctioneers of vain crusades.”

Psychological projectionPsychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.  For example, a person who is habitually rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.

Maybe he is getting the message after all.

Besides "projection," some might even say "diabolical narcissist!"

This quote from Dr Jeff Mirus may be interesting to some of your readers:

"My own prudential opinion of the Pope’s new pastoral approach is that, whatever its doctrinal and pastoral merits, it will lead inexorably to widespread and catastrophic abuses which are far worse than those we already experience as a result of our culture’s miserable handling of marriage."

What does Mark Thomas make of it?

Mark Thomas will quote Francis saying how much he wishes for peace and called us to pray for peace in Syria and that he loves everyone, and is grateful for criticism and that he's a bridge builder trying to bring the ungrateful trad group the SSPX in, and how so-and-so bishop said that Pope Francis is humble, orthodox and trustworthy, and that the words coming out of their mouths should offer significant proof that Mark Thomas is right and you are wrong and then link us to 10 things Jimmy Akin said about Pope Francis to reinforce it. And didn't Pope Francis speak out about abortion and mention the devil 6 times? Who else does that? Here's another quote... please don't mind that I've cut off the portion from the beginning and the portion from the end and given you an entirely different context the complete opposite of what it means. I'm Mark Thomas, now let's please talk about something different from the actual topic because that would be very convenient for me... P.S. allow me to falsely set up Chris Ferrara and the Remnant by falsely quoting them, so that I can slander them, because I'm a Catholic and Ferrara and the Remnant are rubbish, please don't read anything they say, only read what I quote for you, I'm Mark Thomas, and I need you to pay attention to me!

Vox - the overwhelming quantity of words on your comment pages are now

1. by,
2. in response to, or
3. about

"Mark Thomas". He has won. It has become a bad joke.

I offer no criticsm of those who attempt to take up the battle to this agitator - I appreciate the comments of Peter Lamb, Johnno, Dorota - but note that the situation created is entirely unedifying and no doubt even further demoralising for the battered Catholic passer-by who finds his way here, in need of some certainty, rather than further confusion and frustration.

Put simply, you are losing control of this blog, to the detriment of all who appreciate and benefit from your work. "Mark Thomas" is not one of these. He, like his hero, is here to destroy. And he's done his job.

I understand your open comment policy, but if the situation of the comment threads of the past few days continues, you will without doubt lose your readership - and none of us wants that.

Except perhaps "Mark Thomas".

I don't know, the world hasn't exactly walked away from Francis yet. I don't think they're really tired yet. Oh the irony...

I may be being judgmental here, but I think that "Mark Thomas" has migrated to aka catholic (Louie Verrechio's blog). The comments section after his latest blog post is riddled with long-winded defenses of PF.

Thank you Matthew, you spoke my thoughts exactly. We all value Vox's blog greatly, but it has been all but ruined at this point by Mark, someone I have wanted to give the benefit of the doubt to as well-meaning but is becoming increasingly clear is just an agitator causing confusion, which is evil and of the devil. Sorry to sound offensive, but he really is driving people away with his wicked nonsense covering for Francis and endless arguing and shifting blame. Allowing his comments here is causing far more harm to most readers, especially new ones who he may deceive, than it would for sake of "debate".

Need we be reminded that error has no rights? Giving it the right of debate and 'dialogue' is precisely how the Church got to the point it's at today. It did not happen overnight. It's a slippery slope.

And thanks to Johnno for a good laugh with your witty yet totally accurate comment, which is now the only relief from the combox B.S.

He said ‘trendy’ what does he mean by ‘trendy’ taking Selfies, being in with the new hip? hugging his homosexual Argentinian old friend, allowing the new trend living in serious sin to receive our most Holy Lord, being trendy enough to say there is no Catholic God, calling all sorts of wicked trendy names towards God's true disciples. This ungodly man would have to be the most trendiest monster of all times. He will go down in history in the eyes of the spirit of this world as the most trendiest *Pope* ever!!!!! On Ya Pope Trendy

When The Francis said "vain crusades", is he talking about Rosary crusades?
