I confess: I am a "rebel" and an "idolater" and I am "obstinate," but I'll never be a Papolater!

Once again, Francis has managed to lecture and insult faithful Catholics. It is really quite possible that he is losing his mind or he is suffering from some form of dementia; at least, that would be a charitable thought and one in which we could pity him for his mocking of those who hold fast to the Truth.

On the other hand, as I've said before, he is "setting us up."

No Pope has behaved in the manner of this man.

Cardinals, Bishops - when will you rise up?

Pope Francis: obstinate Christians are rebels and idolaters

(Vatican Radio) Christians who stop at “it’s always been done that way” have hearts closed to the surprises of the Holy Spirit. They are idolaters and rebels will never arrive at the fullness of the truth. That was the message of Pope Francis at Mass on Monday morning at the chapel in the Casa Santa Marta.
In the first reading, Saul was rejected by God as King of Israel because he disobeyed, preferring to listen to the people rather than the will of God. The people, after a victory in battle, wanted to offer a sacrifice of the best animals to God, because, he said, “it’s always been done that way.” But God, this time, did not want that. The prophet Samuel rebuked Saul: “Does the Lord so delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obedience to the command of the Lord?” Jesus teaches us the same thing in the Gospel, the Pope explained. When the doctors of the law criticized Him because His disciples did not fast “as had always been done,” Jesus responded with these examples from daily life: “No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins.”
“What does this mean? That He changes the law? No! That the law is at the service of man, who is at the service of God – and so man ought to have an open heart. ‘It’s always been done this way’ is a closed heart, and Jesus tells us, ‘I will send you the Holy Spirit and He will lead you into the fullness of truth.’ If you have a heart closed to the newness of the Spirit, you will never reach the full truth. And your Christian life will be a half-and-half life, a patched life, mended with new things, but on a structure that is not open to the voice of the Lord—a closed heart, so that you are not able to change others.”
This, the Pope emphasized, was the sin of Saul, for which he was rejected. “It is the sin of so many Christians who cling to what has always been done and who do not allow others to change. And they end up with half a life, [a life that is] patched, mended, meaningless.” The sin, he said, “is a closed heart,” that “does not hear the voice of the Lord, that is not open to the newness of the Lord, to the Spirit that always surprises us.” This rebellion, says Samuel, is “the sin of divination,” and obstinacy is the sin of idolatry:
“Christians who obstinately maintain ‘it’s always been done this way,' this is the path, this is the street—they sin: the sin of divination. It’s as if they went about by guessing: ‘What has been said and what doesn’t change is what’s important; what I hear—from myself and my closed heart—more than the Word of the Lord.’ Obstinacy is also the sin of idolatry: the Christian who is obstinate sins! The sin of idolatry. ‘And what is the way, Father?’ Open the heart to the Holy Spirit, discern what is the will of God.”
Pope Francis noted that in Jesus’ time, good Israelites were in the habit of fasting. “But there is another reality,” he said. “There is the Holy Spirit who leads us into the full truth. And for this reason he needs an open heart, a heart that will not stubbornly remain in the sin of idolatry of oneself,” imagining that my own opinion is more important than the surprise of the Holy Spirit.
“This is the message the Church gives us today. This is what Jesus says so forcefully: ‘New wine in new wineskins.’ Habits must be renewed in the newness of the Spirit, in the surprises of God. May the Lord grant us the grace of an open heart, of a heart open to the voice of the Spirit, which knows how to discern what should not change, because it is fundamental, from what should change in order to be able to receive the newness of the Spirit.”

Good grief. He talks like a communist party boss who's always haranguing the little people for not being revolutionary enough. You're an enemy of the revolution and all that garbage. He definitely doesn't sound like a pope. We all must be evil kulacks.

This is so heretical that it defies comment beyond saying it comes straight from lucifer.

Haha! Having you confessed, who is the sad, sad man now?

Bergoglio is clearly asking you to quit the Church.

On behalf of all my family i only have three words to say regarding Cardinal Jorge! *What A Nut*!

Incoherent blather comes from our Pope's mouth. Breathtaking in its idiocy, really. I believe I'm paraphrasing Johnny English here: "take him away, and lock that man up!"

This papacy is the abomination of desolation, what with message that Jesus is not the Messiah the Jews have been awaiting.

Isn't it time we just ignore him? Trad bloggers are giving him too much attention.

Bergoglio is clearly a "Catholiphobe". I wonder, does he, or one of his yes men, write this Neo Modernist pus? Jorge clearly enjoys reading it. He delights, time and time again, spraying this venom, onto the faces of those whom he despises. He promotes a lex orandi/lex credendi of pure becoming. He is everything Pope Pius X condemned. Don't ignore him. He needs to be called out 24/7. Maybe, fianlly, a group of bishops will gather up some courage, from their pusillanimous souls, to actually call for Bergoglio's abdication.

The laity, together with some true priests, have been holding their breath for too long in regard to this Papacy. It's time to let go and call them out. The Cardinals that voted against PF don't probably have the numbers to call for a Council to censure him so it is really up to us, as Archbishop Schneider has already said.

Far from ignoring this Pope and his coterie we must support all Traditional bloggers in their efforts to tell us what the Vatican doesn't want us to hear. Their dedicated work has already been felt where it matters in the Vatican, but more has to be done. A concerted effort should be made to get the consecrations of Russia & France carried out, as we know that no improvement will be possible without this being done. This is so vital to the restoration of the CC that a worldwide online petition would seem to be very necessary to organise. Many NO people would sign it as they also believe that Our Lady's wishes have not been met and with the threat of IS and Modernism it would garner a good response.

It would appear that the man's only concern when preparing his homily is how to twist the day's reading - whatever it might be - to read as an exhortation to abandon traditional Catholicism and embrace the 'God of Surprises.' The parable of the Wheat and the Tares? Obviously, a call to abandon tradition and embrace change. The parable of the Good Samaritan? Why, that's just a roundabout way of saying 'Abandon the safety of your traditions and embrace the newness of the Spirit, you idolatrous bigots.'

Notice how he yet again lays into the much feared "doctors of the law" - those very same doctors amidst whom Our Lord sat in the temple (Luke 2:46) - when Mark 2:18 says it was simply "people" and Matthew 9:14 specifies by saying it was actually the disciples of John the Baptist who asked the question about fasting. I suppose that makes St. John a "Doctor of the Law." Welcome to the New Gospel, you idolatrous bigots!

Can anyone say with certainty they know to whom he's referring to? He could be referring to reforms he's trying to make in the Curia. Then again, he could be talking about the sacrament of marriage. Who really knows?

This Pope Of Insults seems to wake up with a mad on about somebody or something and then goes on a rant in his daily homily. It's confusing, demoralizing, and disappointing.

It would be good if he'd stop talking so much and actually do something like reform the Curia, his Jesuit order, the Lavender Mafia, etc. At this point his legacy will be a version of WTF?

So worn out and tired of the Pope Bergoglio Show. All he does is complain and put people down. Never says anything spiritual. Horribly arrogant.

The sin of Saul is disobedience, period. Whether it's from the assumption of something thats always been done or from something new - is irrelevant.

Ignore him? How is it possible for any real Catholic to ignore him? In the past there were no social network and international communications, so Catholics generally speaking didn't know what was going on to a large extent in the Vatican and with the Pope. That's what happened after the Reformation. The laity went along in their ignorance, and slowly slowly the Catholic faith was lost in the UK and everywhere else outside the Latin counries. Besides we need to keep tabs on this Pope to know what WE have to do and how to defend the Catholic truth that this he wouldn't know even if he fell over it.

What a monstrous papacy. It's patently obvious he's getting at traditional Catholics. What madness truly. All Catholics were traditional before Vatican II. Oh no, we should be shirking our duty and actual RIGHTS to ignore him, and for this we are responsible , at least this is what I think. Yes, just like the Reformation gang of leaders, these modernist prelates are betting on the ignorance of most of the laity, then they can infiltrate their heretical ideas without too much bother....and without promulgating any of them officially They don't care about us. They are the slyest people....and certainly not Catholic bent on a truly wicked alteration of the truth.

I quite frankly don't understand what their real motive is. I mean, why go to this great length to destroy Catholicism if they don't beleive in anything? They must beleive in something or they wouldn't be so determined about the destruction they are about. So is it the devil they serve? That's the only answer I can come up with, but then my understanding of their mindset is very limited.. Can anyone else come up with a plausible motive for their actions? I'm at a loss...

The proper term for what Frances is doing is "scapegoating." He's projecting the community's problems on a small group, blaming them for his own failures. Classic example. He would do well to read the work of Rene Girard, the recently deceased member of the French Academy, professor emeritus of Stanford U, devout Catholic,
who devoted his life to studying the scapegoating phenomenon.

Excellent comments. I think serious Catholics, though a small number, cause the Pope pangs of guilt when they criticize him. Having narcissistic personality disorder he needs constant admiration and when not received, lashes out.

Another example is his year of Mercy. There is something terribly fatuous about this Mercy business. The target audience for this spiritual largess by Pope Francis' would appear to be folks who think what we (orthodox Catholics aka The Rigid) regard as sinning is perfectly OK. And where did they get this idea? Well, one way is the tacit approval of sinning since Vatican II. And the Mercy door? Nearly comical. How about tying in Mercy with Confession? This has not been done in any meaningful way. The Mercy door would now appear to replace the Confessional door. To me there is something artificial, presumptuous and contemptible about the whole thing. God have Mercy on us all by giving us the grace to confess our sins and amend our lives.

His articulation of the homily in which he browbeats Catholics for resisting his heterodoxy is quite clear for someone who would be suffering from dementia. I highly doubt this is the case.

He's building a new, strange church.

As I mentioned on Twitter, there are many people who said that the current Vatican and Bergoglio would do this -- the rebels calling us rebels.

We cannot give them the high ground. They are the rebels and we have to keep at it that they are betraying the Lord, the Church and the Magisterium.

The minute we give up the high ground, we will delay the fixing of the Church by centuries.

Many have said that Bergoglio will change a bunch of things and then divest all power to the Episcopal Conferences so that no future Pope will ever be able to unify the Church again under one banner, one teaching, one Faith.

We cannot allow that to happen. Storm heaven with prayers and storm your parishes with actions and deeds. Take back your parishes, Catholics!

It's almost as though only Christians are sinners in the mind of this pope.
Whenever he speaks with venom about sin it seems to always be to orthodox Christians.

God help us to discern the Truth with humility! Lord, protect us from spiritual pride! These times are so confusing and we have no hope without Your light of wisdom.

Dorota said...

Tell me if my reading of what he is saying is incorrect.
1. Jesus Christ came and put His Father's Law in the context of His sacrificial Love.
2. Jorge Bergoglio came and replaced Jesus's sacrifice and love with the "holy spirit" (his words, not mine) of Bergoglio and his doors of mercy without repentance.

With God the Father one had to offer sacrifices.
With the Son of God one had to repent and accept His sacrifice.
With the unholy spirit of Bergoglio one has to enjoy oneself according to one's own law (sadness and belief in the Absolute Truth are grave sins now) and walk through a magical door on church property.

I cannot wait for the day when he is no longer pope. He is so protestant in his thinking and continues to make up his own religion and twist all we were taught as Catholics. Lord free us from this man.

This from a man who states you do not even have to believe in God to be saved . but you'll be dammed for not been open to the new. The Law is of service to the man ?,sounds like those Masses where the laity worship themselves ,in the New Church of Man all things serve man who serves God only in what suits him.Either we must change our ways ,or God must change His , nothing new there .

"Saul, Saul, Why do you persecute Me?" Acts 9:4
I believe the sin of Saul was that he was persecuting the First Catholics.
He did not understand that He (JC) was the Messiah.
He was struck blind but his sight was restored.
Let us pray that P,F. sight will be restored so that he may stop persecuting the present day Catholics.

Can we give bergoglio to the protestants? Do they need a leader? He sounds more heretical than luther!I, and my family, are done with this man. We await a true Pope.

Well Jorge and his pals are making history!
Vatican I concluded that there had never been a heretical Pope in the history of the Church up until their time and declared:
“this See of St. Peter always remains unimpaired by any error.”
The fathers of the council made this statement after finding forty historical papal errors, meaning that popes can err, but not against the Faith as it’s defined.
Archbishop John Baptist Purcell of Cincinnati related the following:
"The question was also raised by a Cardinal, “What is to be done with the Pope if he becomes a heretic?” It was answered that there has never been such a case; the Council of Bishops could depose him for heresy, for from the moment he becomes a heretic he is not the head or even a member of the Church. The Church would not be, for a moment, obliged to listen to him when he begins to teach a doctrine the Church knows to be a false doctrine, and he would cease to be Pope, being deposed by God Himself. If the Pope, for instance, were to say that the belief in God is false, you would not be obliged to believe him, or if he were to deny the rest of the creed, “I believe in Christ,” etc. The supposition is injurious to the Holy Father in the very idea, but serves to show you the fullness with which the subject has been considered and the ample thought given to every possibility. If he denies any dogma of the Church held by every true believer, he is no more Pope than either you or I; and so in this respect the dogma of infallibility amounts to nothing as an article of temporal government or cover for heresy."
(Abp. John B. Purcell, quoted in Rev. James J. McGovern, Life and Life Work of Pope Leo XIII [Chicago, IL: Allied Printing, 1903], p. 241; imprimatur by Abp. James Quigley of Chicago.

There was some talk about this on Church Militant yesterday under the title:

"Establishment media is failing the faithful. A truly objective Catholic media can't be beholden to the hierarchy."

We said the little prayer request video was troubling, and the discovery of the special status of Jews as not needing Jesus Christ was contradicting 2000 years of Church teaching.

I say with sadness - All our comments are gone. I am banned. It is called controlled opposition.

Peter Lamb said...

Dorota, I sympathize. "Controlled opposition," aka censorship, is getting more and more blatant and intolerant. They say they are Catholics and that they seek the truth, yet they will only permit one-sided debate. Are they scared that the opposition may speak the truth, or do they protect their vested interests above all else?

Anonymous said...

I just want to say that allegedly traditional Catholic media organizations such as Church Militant have been utterly derelict in their reporting duties.

I have constantly pegged CM with questions about their revealing dearth of reporting on Pope Francis's scandalous words. They have ignored the following recent developments:

1. The Vatican's repudiation of the Church's Great Commission toward the Jews.

2. The potentially heretical interfaith Pope Video.

3. The interfaith prayer service developed for Catholics and Lutherans to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. This horrid document, called the "Common Prayer," was approved by the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, a Vatican organ.

I have a litany of posts that have been removed by CM Moderators. They have not returned my e-mails.

I will not donate one dang cent to Church Militant or other media that claim to be orthodox news sites, especially if they blatantly ignore the Pope's disreputable actions. Are they under the influence of some bizarre modern neo-Ultramontanism? Was CM compromised by big money donors who will withdraw their funds if the Pope is targeted for his shocking words? What is their excuse?

If Pope Francis was still Archbishop Bergoglio, they would have put him on the hot seat, like they have done to Cardinal Dolan and other wayward clerics. Even St. Paul opposed St. Peter to his face when the latter erred.

Church Militant needs to answer for this glaring discrepancy.

Dorota said...

People talk about the change at CM after the big donation for the new studio.

What saddens me is that the uncompromising stance of Mr Voris on selected issues, the tireless work he does for the Church, is in the end misleading, when Church teaching denying "innovations" you list are completely ignored. Many people have never been exposed to such straight talk, and may be misled into thinking that CM reports comprehensively and truthfully. We know CM leaves out crucial elements of the story of our Church today.

People who are misled into trusting the current pope today may be farther misled into embracing the beast system tomorrow, unless they already have, as it may be happening imperceptibly. Satan is clever and not straightforward. Masonry has always used deception under the cover of charitable work, peace and justice. Mr Voris knows this.

Like Mr Voris says himself, in the end it is all about helping souls to be saved.

So, I was banned from Church Militant. Apparently the modern neo-Ultramontanists can't countenance constructive criticism in any form of Pope Francis.
