Polish Bishop defends Mary Wagner

"Her voice is just a sign of freedom. She harms no one, only demonstrating her belief; drawing attention to the value of human life".

Where are our bishops?

A very, very good question, that demands an answer.

For an interesting and scholarly look at the relationship between the Archdiocese of Toronto and the Toronto pro-life movement, I highly recommend "Catholics Against the Church: Anti-abortion protest in Toronto 1969-1985" by Michael W. Cuneo. It outlines how the Toronto pro-life movement lost credibility not only with Catholic intelligentsia but with many priests and bishops. Nevertheless, I remember the late Archbishop Ambrozic saying Mass on the Feast of Holy Innocents for pro-lifers and Protestants telling us they admired the Catholic Church for its commitment to the unborn. Working WITH bishops always works better than denouncing them in print.

...they are likely of the view that this is a settled issue and that the Church just needs to move on.
