Sisters, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters.

On a brighter note to what has been going on locally and in Rome, take a look at this magnificent picture. Sixteen, count'em! Sixteen new postulants this year alone for the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The community began with four from the Nashville Dominicans of St. Cecelia. They now have 115 and the average age of a nun is 28 years.

Here is a video of the production of their upcoming recording.

Of course, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto are more the norm; but ask yourself this?

Who will be left in twenty years?

Will the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto use their multi-million dollar nest egg from property sales to rebuild their Order by following their Rule and the true implementation of the Second Vatican Council as these Domincans have?

Or will they simply blow out the candles?

Due acknowledgement for the title to Irving Berlin.

My aunt got yelled at by a CSJ. She recognized a woman at St G's as a sister from Morrow Park and asked her how she liked the new convent. My aunt was told "it's NOT a convent! It's a long term care facility". (in an angry tone) My aunt was like "ok fine".
No idea why she was angry but her tone sure shocked my aunt who was schooled by the sisters and used to attend daily Mass at the (former) convent.

Well, either she was mad because your aunt called it a "convent" or she's mad because it isn't!

Probably the first. Not sure why. I also think this particular sister possibly lived in an apartment rather than at that new location. My aunt has also met sisters who (she felt) didn't like being made as sisters. (my aunt is pretty good at spotting the plain clothes ones! LOL)

Let them blow out the candles. The Catholic faithful are tired of fake nuns who don't believe in God and dress like men.

I was at a concert once and sitting in front of us were three or for women.

My date said, "they look like nuns."

One turned and said, "How did you know."

I responded, "Oh, come on Sister, you can take the nun out of the habit but you can't take the habit out of the nun."

I got a dirty look.
